US plot to overthrow elected Palestinian government exposed

The United States plotted the armed overthrow of the Hamas government elected by the Palestinian people in January 2006, according to "The Gaza Bombshell", an article based on leaked documents and interviews with key players in the Bush administration that was published in the latest edition of the US magazine Vanity Fair.

The US supports democratic elections only when the "right" candidates win!

The maps tell the story of just who is the aggressor and who is the victim.

Genetics paper erased from journal over political content

The publisher of Human Immunology, Elsevier Science, has removed all electronic versions of the article and has sent a letter to individual subscribers and librarians advising them to ignore the article "or, preferably, to physically remove the relevant pages".

Palestinians and Sephardic Jews share common genetic ancestry.

The checkpoint generation

The crime of being born Palestinian

At 1:05am, six-month-old Khalid Dawud Fakaah died at Atara Checkpoint. As the soldier checked the car, he shined his flashlight on the dead child's face and, realizing what had happened, finally returned the three ID cards and allowed the grieving family to pass.

Just imagine, for one brief moment, this had been your child.

PRESS VIEWS ON THE EVENTS IN GAZA YESTERDAY

This is a brief comparison of how different news outlets covered the recent violence in Gaza.

David Chater on Israel's Gaza incursion - 15 Jan 08

Hamas to Hosny Mubarak - Open the Rafah Crossing!

Tens of thousands of Palestinians participated in a demonstration in the southern Gaza Strip on Saturday against the closure of Rafah crossing, between the border of Egypt and the Gaza Strip.

The outcome of a joint cynical political international (&) domestic game with the precious lives of the Palestinian people, is the strangling of the Gaza Strip, the life nerve and the exit door to the outside world, the Rafah border crossing to Egypt. Hundreds of thousands of Palestinians are suffering from these inhuman and illegal methods.- Over hundred Palestinians have died since the closer of the Rafah crossing, three months ago.A scandalous and incomprehensible criminal act of cruelty, which has caused the death to the many, and also has posed the substantial threat of personal injuries - to the all ready great suffering on both sides of the border.

It is obvious that Egypt has closed the Rafah crossing in anticipation of an Israeli strike against Gaza.

One of Israel's legacies in the history of this world will be the absolute new heights to which it has taken the concept of collective punishment.

PA sources: Israel tells Abbas about its intentions to invade Gaza

Palestinian sources in Ramallah confirmed on Monday that the Israeli government handed two days ago the PA chief, Mahmoud Abbas, and Egypt a detailed report on its intention to carry out a large-scale incursion into the southern Gaza Strip, including the borderline with Egypt at the pretext of destroying tunnels allegedly used to smuggle large quantities of arms into the Strip.

The Gazans had to know this was coming: it's just a question of when.

It appears that the Israeli armed forces and Olmert need to "look butch" to Israelis by striking against an impoverished people who can barely function, due to all the boycotts of aid and restriction of movement.

House Demolitions in the West Bank

Hamas warns of catastrophic Gaza medicine shortage

Hamas warned on Thursday of a humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip which it has run for more than three months due to a dire shortage of basic medical supplies.

Gaza health authorities are suffering from a shortage of essential medicines, especially cancer and nephrotic drugs, Naim said.

This is precisely where Israel wants Gaza.

And this is ethnic cleansing by withholding medication, one Gazan Palestinian at a time.

Please remember: Hamas was elected as the leadership of the Palestinian people in an election verified as mostly "free and fair" by international observers.

The reason Hamas got elected was that Palestinians were absolutely sick and tired of the corruption of Fatah.

But in Israel's world view, Palestinians are never to elect anyone not to Israel's liking, or they will be punished even more severely than they are already punished on a daily basis.

Unmasking of Abbas gives Bush final shot at imposing Bantustan

Where does he hide now? Mahmoud Abbas, de facto dictator of the Occupied Territories is in hiding from his own people! Unlike his predecessor Yasser Arafat, who was incarcerated in his Ramallah HQ – under siege from Israel; Abbas is an esteemed guest in Jerusalem.

His limited movement within the West Bank and zero presence in the Gaza is in sharp contrast to the way he is feted by the Israelis. While he does Israel’s bidding by outlawing the elected government led by Hamas, Abbas has foolishly painted himself into a corner.

PA Health: Decay of vaccines would spread diseases, epidemics

The health ministry in the PA caretaker government in Gaza has warned of a serious human and health disaster in the Gaza Strip as a result of the decay of vaccines in hospital fridges due to repeated power failures.

This is precisely one of the outcomes Israeli officials hope will happen as a result of this siege.

Israeli city demands that Google Earth erase Palestinian claim -- Google says no

Israeli town sues Google over claim it was built on Arab village

"Jewish villages were built in the place of Arab villages. You do not even know the names of these Arab villages, and I do not blame you because geography books no longer exist. Not only do the books not exist, the Arab villages are not there either. Nahlal arose in the place of Mahlul; Kibbutz Gvat in the place of Jibta; Kibbutz Sarid in the place of Huneifis; and Kefar Yehushua in the place of Tal al-Shuman. There is not a single place built in this country that did not have a former Arab population." Moshe Dayan, address to the Technion, Haifa, reported in Haaretz, April 4, 1969.

Gaza Outages Expand After Fuel Cutbacks

"The Israeli policy is not against Hamas, it is against us, the ordinary people," said Hassan Akram, owner of a grocery in Gaza City. "We are the only losers. Now it’s cold and there’s no electricity."

Reem Abu Ali, a teacher and 38-year-old mother of four, stopped by the grocery to buy candles.

"My children have exams. How will they study? How are we going to warm our houses? If the border opens, I might leave Gaza forever. This is no place to live," she said.

Among the nations on this planet, the nation of Israel really has collective punishment down to an obscenely precise science.

Gaza Diary: Sewage on our doorstep

Last summer, the station could not cope with the high volume of sewage, which was ultimately diverted to a nearby grove where the community had planted their olive trees and other crops. If you have seen an olive tree you will know that it is a hardy plant which can bear fruit even in the desert.

But since the diversion, all of the crops in that grove - including some 100 olive trees - died as a result of the toxic waste that was being pumped into the land.

Raw sewage leads to water-borne illnesses like diarrhea and cholera.

Of course, Israel understands this.

“What is the lesson to be learned from the Holocaust?”

While on the plane, still full of rage, I wrote on every page in the magazines provided by the airline “I am a Holocaust survivor and I will ‘never again’ return to Israel.”

Power supply to Gaza cut as fuel runs low

Israel claims that, with other military and political steps, fuel and electricity cuts are "legitimate self-defence" in the face of continued rocket firing from the Strip into southern Israel.

"Self defense", right?!?

Tell that to a person on a respirator in a Gazan hospital where the generator has broken down, and cannot be repaired.

Tell that to a mom and dad with a critically fragile newborn in an incubator which can't function because the hospital generator is broken.

When the ultimate history of Israel is written, the most major accomplishment of this country will be that of the perfection of collective punishment to a depth and height of darkness and inhumanity never to have been accomplished before.

A daily exercise in humiliation

Under the supervision of an Israeli soldier clutching an M-16 assault rifle, Qassem Saleh begins his daily disrobing.

First, he lifts his bright orange shirt so the soldier can see there's no bomb strapped to his torso. Then, after passing through a metal floor-to-ceiling turnstile, he undoes his belt and hands it over for examination to a second soldier, along with his wallet, mobile phone and cigarettes.

The second soldier peruses his documents and asks his reason for travel. The answer is a simple one: Mr. Saleh goes through all this, not to board a plane or visit a prison, but so that he can go home to his family after a day's studies at An-Najah University in Nablus. It's a process Israel says is necessary for security, but one that hundreds of thousands of Palestinians consider their daily humiliation.

Blackouts.

A boy not older than 12, paralyzed and totally dependent on a breathing machine. The machine has stopped. No electricity. A total blackout. The whole family takes turns pumping air manually to keep him alive. A vigil of artificial air.

And you paid to make this happen, to the tune of $30 billion a year.

Think about that tomorrow as the stock market starts dancing.

Israel raids Nablus, imposes curfew.

At one point, nervous soldiers forced a Palestinian youth to lead a small group of soldiers up some stairs and into a home ahead of the forces.

Israel's Supreme Court in 2005 banned the practice of using Palestinian civilians as ``human shields,'' though the army challenged the decision. The army had no immediate comment on Sunday's incident, which was filmed by AP Television News.

Israel seizes West Bank land for illegal barrier

Jordan, Egypt demand end to Gaza siege

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and Jordan’s King Abdullah met Saturday at Sharm el-Sheik, condemning the Israeli “siege on the Gaza Strip” and calling for “an end to the blockade on the Palestinian people, which causes them much suffering.”

AF discovers mass graves in Um Al-Rashrash; affirms they were for Muslims

According to the foundation, the unearthed remains may suggest the presence of a mass grave of Muslim soldiers who have been executed there, but there are no indications as to identity of the soldiers or to when this event took place.

Hence, the foundation urged Arab and Muslim countries and parties to furnish it with any information that could shed a light on the identities of those buried in the mass grave and what has happened in that place.

A few months ago, Egyptian daily newspapers accused former Israeli war minister Binyamin Ben Alizer of deliberately executing Egyptian prisoners of war during the 1967 Arab-Israeli war.

Lawyer Mohammed Suleiman hailed the AF for its swift action, affirming that had the organization not responded fast enough to the news the Israeli occupation authorities may have concealed the discovery of these Muslim graves.

Go And See the Truth For Yourself, I Did

We spent a lot of time at checkpoints in the West Bank. Unfortunately, the word 'checkpoint' sounds so benign that it hardly conveys the horror of the place. Have you seen a cattle shed crammed full of animals? With only one gate to get out, guarded by a farmer with a stick? Well, just replace him with an Israeli soldier with a rifle- and the animals with Palestinians- and you're not far.

Walking through old Hebron, you pass row upon row of abandoned shops with their doors welded together and spray-painted with the Star of David. The resonance of the Warsaw ghetto is chilling.

Israel is a "democracy" only for its Jewish citizens, period, end of discussion.

EU envoy warns Gaza could become the next Somalia

Israel's policies in the Gaza Strip are likely to turn the territory into Somalia, European Union special envoy to the Middle East Marc Otte told Haaretz on Thursday in an interview.

"Israel's tactics in the Gaza Strip did not work," Otte said. "The blockade and the sanctions against the population failed, and only strengthened Hamas and weakened [Prime Minister Salam] Fayyad and [President Mahmoud Abbas] Abu Mazen."

What Envoy Otte doesn't realize, is that this is precisely the outcome Israel wants.

The more violence in Gaza against Israel and Israelis, the more Israeli politicians and military see their way clear for a "justification" to simply wipe Gaza off the face of the earth, with every Gazan man, woman, and child gone.

For the Israelis, it's just a matter of timing.

IS ABBAS OFFICIALLY GAZA’S NEW OCCUPIER

It sure seems that’s what he wants…. yesterday he went as far as calling for an end to the coup in Gaza by Hamas. Is ‘coup’ the new term for LEGALLY ELECTED GOVERNMENT? Are we to expect the Palestinian people to reject their own CHOICE and bow down to the desires of the occupier? Abbas seems to think so…

Abbas = "Shah of Gaza"

PALESTINE~~ WHERE THE ILLEGAL TRIES TO ILLEGALISE THE LEGAL

First there was an election in the Occupied Territories.... then the Party that was LEGALLY elected was not recognised by anyone outside the area..... then the Israeli and American governments set up a puppet regime putting the head of the party that lost in charge....

NOW, their 'leader' wants to illegalise the ELECTED ruling party and prevent them from running in future elections....

Gaza: The Auschwitz Of Our Time

In 1940, several months after invading Poland in September 1939, the Nazis forced about 500,000 Jews into the Warsaw Ghetto, surrounding it with a high wall. Tens of thousands died from hunger and disease. Eventually, 300,000 were sent to death camps, mainly Treblinka in eastern Poland. Similarly, Israel is now incarcerating nearly a million and a half helpless Palestinians in the Gaza Strip into a hell similar in nature to the Warsaw Ghetto. The Gaza concentration camp is not only fitted with a wall, but also with every conceivable tool of repression, such as electric fences and watch towers manned by Gestapo-like trigger-happy Jewish soldiers who shoot first and ask questions later.

Palestinian children do not have the right to a fair trial

Arbour backs plan that seeks end to Zionism

The headline is pure spin. The plan in question seeks to protect all human rights across the Middle East, including, of course, those of the Palestinians.

So, of course, rather than address the issue of the Palestinians, on which Israel does not look too good in the eyes of the rest of the world, Israel screams that the plan seeks to end Israel itself, which it does not. The plan simple seeks to have Israel behave as every other civilized nation on Earth behaves. If Israel perceives this as an existential threat, this becomes an admission that Israel knows it is a throwback to the primitive barbarism of the Old Testament, and cannot survive the modern civilized world.

Toddlers not immune from discrimination in Israel

She continued: "One of the daycare workers opened your son's bag and found out that he is called Arafat. She spoke about it with her relatives, who also have children in the center, and in response they removed their children from the center because there is an Arab child there."

The boy in question is indeed called Arafat. He is sixteen months old, and is the only child of Fathi Wahidi, a resident of the city of Ramle. Arafat does not have pneumonia, influenza or any other infectious disease, we are pleased to report. His only problem is that he is an Arab boy living in Israel.

Unflipping believable.

Israeli tanks roll into southeast Gaza

As Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is to meet Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert on Thursday, Israeli tanks thrust into southeastern Gaza Strip, sparking clashes with Palestinian militants and residents said.

When Israel thinks that geopolitical attention is headed in another direction for sufficiently long enoughperiod of time, they will invade Gaza, killing every human being still breathing.

Gaza food supplies 'getting worse by the day'

Food is running short for hundreds of thousands of Palestinians in the impoverished Gaza Strip, and more aid is urgently needed to prevent a humanitarian crisis, the United Nations' World Food Program (WFP) said on Friday. Some 302,000 people need food aid in Gaza, equivalent to nearly two-thirds of the population not including refugees, WFP spokeswoman Christiane Berthiaume told journalists. "The situation is getting worse by the day," she added. Nearly 70 percent of the 1.5 million people in Gaza live on less than $250 a month, while food accounts for 60 percent of household expenditure.

Villagers helpless in face of settlers' land grab

If Israel's "image" is at an all time low around the world, it is because of incidents like this.

It is not about image: it's about behavior, and what that behavior and the havoc and destruction that behavior has created.

With her health failing at this time, as the woman began thinking about her final arrangements she asked that someone please go to her home village of Safad, which is located in the Palestinian hills of eastern Galilee.
