NSPD-51 and the Potential for a Coup d'Etat by National Emergency
Under NSPD-51, only limited ‘National Essential Functions’ of government will continue, which may or may not include Congress and the courts. NSPD-51 assures us: “Enduring Constitutional Government means a cooperative effort among the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of the Federal Government, coordinated by the President, as a matter of comity with respect to the legislative and judicial branches...” This “matter of comity,” which usually refers to the informal and voluntary recognition of jurisdiction among courts, is troublesomely ambiguous in this context. Is Bush claiming that he, rather than the

Bush Quips He Might Stay in Power
Reporter: Mr. President, following up on Vladimir Putin for a moment, he said recently that next year, when he has to step down according to the constitution, as the president, he may become prime minister; in effect keeping power and dashing any hopes for a genuine democratic transition there ...
Bush: I've been planning that myself.
Ahahahahaha. That's funny. It's a great comedian who can give voice to what everyone else is just thinking.
I still remember Bush's joke about being dictator.
25 education protesters detained
Twenty-five protesters, most of them Baltimore high school students, were detained yesterday after they charged up the steps of the State House demanding that Gov. Martin O'Malley be arrested for not addressing what they called a "historic underfunding" of Maryland public schools.

Congressman calls hearing after White House admits 473 days of email 'missing'
On Thursday night, Waxman said he was scheduling a hearing for Feb. 15 and challenged the White House to explain spokesman Tony Fratto's remark that "we have absolutely no reason to believe that any e-mails are missing."
This appears to be more sound and fury (remember Waxman's having subpoenaed Condolezza Rice?) which will, again, signify absolutely nothing.
Waxman and his colleagues, from both sides of the isle, appear to be collectively impotent to hold this administration accountable for anything.
White House Study Found 473 Days of E-Mail Gone
The White House possesses no archived e-mail messages for many of its component offices, including the Executive Office of the President and the Office of the Vice President, for hundreds of days between 2003 and 2005, according to the summary of an internal White House study that was disclosed yesterday by a congressional Democrat.
Now, keep in mind that the White House does not own those e-mails. YOU DO. Everything the White House Generates is work product owned by their employer, the people of the
This is YOUR property the White House made you pay for, then destroyed.
What was on those emails? Well, we can guess part of it. The missing period is when the whole Valerie Plame affair went down, which is also when the White House was trying to keep the lid on the fact that they had lied to the world about Iraq's weapons of mass destruction. Valerie Plame was outed as a side-effect of the campaign to discredit her husband, former ambassador Joe Wilson who had gone public exposing the forged documents Bush cited in his claim that
The White House is still clinging to the claim that the Iraq WMD debacle was an innocent mistake, but were any emails to surface that proved the White House was knowingly lying, Congress would be forced to act, or following Congress' failure to do so, We The People would be justified in firing our errant employees en masse.

Now, this administration has just the tools in place to do this, if it decides to use them.
I would not put it past the FBI to have actually been behind the mailings of these anthrax letters as part of the terror campaign which the Bush Administration and its criminal minions have been waging against the American people since 9-11. A bogus war on terror which led to the Patriot Act and the most intense assault on American freedoms in the history of this country.

House Passes Thought Crime Prevention Bill
There is little doubt that this bill is specifically targeting the growing patriot community that is demanding the restoration of the Constitution.
"Thought Crime Bill" Could Ensnare Peaceful Activists
Ostensibly, the bill targets United States citizens because of its constant reference to basic Constitutional protections, but this has led some to fear that it is intended to shut down free speech on the Internet and stifle patriot and alternative talk radio networks.
Should You Be On A Government Watch List?
Subsequently in 2008, under the Federal Government's "Secure Flight Program" the Government will begin not allowing U.S. Citizens on domestic flights until the government has prescreened a passenger's information against "government Watch Lists." On its face—that sounds great. Everyone wants safe air travel. The Government states, "Watch Lists" will be used to identify individuals who "may pose" a known or suspected threat to aviation or national security. But what does that mean? "May pose a suspected threat—to national security? U.S. Government officials have called protesters potential terrorists and a threat to national security. The words "May pose a suspected threat... " are so vague one can't help wonder if that could" apply to an individual wanting to fly to an anti-war or environmental protest. You can read about the Government "Watch Lists" in the "Secure Flight Program" at: http://www.tsa.gov/what_we_do/layers/secureflight/index.shtm
Note the Federal Government never defines what "may pose" actually means when they state, "may pose a suspected threat" to national security. Have Americans reached a point where Citizens need to ask their representatives to clearly explain what lawful conduct or activities "may pose" a threat to National Security. Especially because S.1959 the "Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act" could be passed by the Senate. That Federal bill vaguely defines "homegrown terrorism" as "any planned act" that might use force to promote or accomplish a "political or social objective." No actual force need occur. Government need only allege that an individual or organization thought about using force.
US Treasury Department starts shutting down websites

Stage is Set for FISA Fillibuster Over Telecom Immunity
The only reason the telecoms would need retroactive immunity from prosecution is if they broke the law. Even if they broke the law at the Bush adminstration's request they chose to break the law without any guarantee of immunity.
They knew they were breaking the law. Since when do lawbreakers get immunity?
Wider Spying Fuels Aid Plan for Telecom Industry

When Hermann Hesse warned of the rise of Fascism in Germany, he was rejected by a majority of the population. Email missing from Cheney's office on day White House told to preserve documents in CIA leak
Among the sixteen days for which email are missing from Vice President Cheney's office is Sept. 30, 2003, the same day the day the Justice Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation announced they were investigating who outed former CIA officer Valerie Plame Wilson.
That morning, then-White House counsel Alberto Gonzales ordered the president and the vice president's staff to "preserve all materials that might be relevant" to an inchoate Justice Department probe.
Keep in mind that the outing of Valerie Plame is the visible tip of a very ugly iceberg that leads straight to the President lying this nation into a pointless war of conquest.
There is no greater crime a leader can commit against his own people then to lie them into a war of conquest. It is certainly not a power the Constitution grants to the United States government.
DHS Finalizing Spy Satellite Program To Watch Americans Without Congressional Oversight
The Department of Homeland security is forging ahead and finalizing plans to use a network of spy satellites for domestic surveillance despite the fact that the Congressional committee supposedly overseeing the program has had no update on it for over three months.
Real ID: From “No Fly” to “No Drive” Lists?
ABC breaks the ice for us: in the future, and not too far into it, the process of getting and renewing a driver’s license will become more difficult, stressful, and fraught with all manner of unnecessary nonsense supposedly designed to protect us from terrorists, or rather CIA patsies paraded about to frighten us into submission, and as well prevent illegals from taking to the roads, never mind Alaska, Connecticut, Idaho, Louisiana, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Utah, Washington and West Virginia allow illegals to hold a license, thus demonstrating the above is little more than a threadbare excuse.

After an outcry of objections, the California Energy Commission withdrew its proposal to require new buildings in the state to have radio-controlled thermostats that, in a power emergency, could be used to override customers’ temperature settings.
Who Will Control Your Thermostat?
Every new home and every change to existing homes' central heating and air conditioning systems will required to be fitted with a PCT beginning next year following the issuance of the revision. Each PCT will be fitted with a "non-removable " FM receiver that will allow the power authorities to increase your air conditioning temperature setpoint or decrease your heater temperature setpoint to any value they chose. During "price events" those changes are limited to +/- four degrees F and you would be able to manually override the changes. During "emergency events" the new setpoints can be whatever the power authority desires and you would not be able to alter them.
U.S.-Bound Air Travelers Now Need Passports
To anyone contemplating coming to the US for business or vacation: just please don't.
We're treating foreign nationals, no matter how nice they may be, as criminals at US airports and border crossings these days.

U.S. Supreme Court Denies Certiorari for Landmark Right to Petition Case
Without comment, the Supreme Court decided not to hear We The People v. United States, a case which, if heard, would have required the Court to declare -- for the first time history -- whether the Government is obligated to respond to proper Petitions by ordinary, private individuals for Redress of Grievances – specifically Grievances alleging unconstitutional behavior by the Government, and whether the individual having so Petitioned, has the Right to act to peacefully hold the Government accountable if the Government refuses to respond.
In plain language, the Supreme Court has just told the American people that it is none of their business if the government is acting Constitutionally or not.
Supreme Court rejects ACLU challenge to wiretaps
The court said plaintiffs represented by the ACLU could not sue the government because they could not prove their communications had been warrantlessly monitored by the National Security Agency. ACLU legal director called it a "Catch-22" scenario because records of who the government spied on were classified.

Science teacher's brush with police ends in heart attack
"One officer crushed his knee into Mr. Jacob's back," the complaint states. "They then repeatedly slammed his head onto the car and then pressed his head against the car for some time."
Additional officers arrived on the scene with a witness to the earlier accident. The witness told them Jacob was the wrong guy.
"'I told you it was a white Maxima,'" the witness reportedly said, according to the complaint. Jacob drives a white Infiniti.
Jacob told the cops he was experiencing chest pains and began coughing uncontrollably.
A female cop said, "Nice acting," according to Jacob, and then drove off. Jacob said he struggled to drive home, stopping to vomit on the side of the road.
His wife rushed him to the hospital, where doctors determined he had suffered a heart attack.

Only America-hating traitors believe in due process for journalists
For obvious reasons, it is highly disturbing that the U.S. Government imprisons journalists for years without bothering to charge them with any crime. The U.S. is doing the same with A.P. photojournalist Bilal Hussein. These aren't "prisoners of war" captured fighting on a battlefield, but rather, accredited journalists taking pictures and filming events that the U.S. Government dislikes.
I keep thinking that I'm going to wake up from this nightmare, but the nightmare is the waking reality with which I'm confronted on a daily basis.
The US used to be a country based on the rule of law and due process: not any more.

Mom threatened with jail for teaching kids at home
It seems that an affidavit she faxed to the local school district for the 2006-2007 school year, documenting her homeschooling plans, was lost by the district. So when she went to court with her juvenile son to have the charges dismissed (under a case held in abeyance procedure) stemming from a clash among children, she suddenly was presented with four counts against her for failing to comply with the state's compulsory education requirement.
Government spooks helped Microsoft build Vista
THE USA GOVERNMENT'S cryptologic organisation, the National Security Agency, has admitted that it is behind some of the security changes to Microsoft's operating system Vista.

Bush exempts Navy from no-sonar rule

US judge rejects Bush's Navy sonar exemption
A Los Angeles judge has rejected a decision by United States President George W Bush to allow the Navy to use sonar equipment accused of endangering marine life, saying there is no justification to override environmental laws.
The guard then insisted that cameras were banned because of the risk of a terrorist attack - and barred the bemused couple for life.
Anger over girls' strip searches
Another sterling recommendation for US tourism.
A mother and her two young daughters come to New York for a vacation. The mother comes down with pneumonia and has to go to the hospital. Because the daughters are minors, they are grabbed by New York Administration for Children's Services, strip-searched, interrogated if they had been abused or were suicidal, then separated and dumped into an orphanage!
The mother left the hospital before she was well in order to rescue her daughters, and NOW the New York Administration for Children's Services says it is investigating the mother!
81 protesters arrested at Supreme Court
Police Arrest 81 Protesters in Guantanamo Protest at Supreme Court
Demonstrators wearing orange jump suits intended to simulate prison garb were arrested inside and outside the building in the early afternoon. "Shut it down," protesters chanted as others kneeled on the plaza in front of the court.
They were charged with violating an ordinance that prohibits demonstrations of any kind on court grounds. Those arrested inside the building also were charged under a provision that makes it a crime to give "a harangue or oration" in the Supreme Court building.
You just have to appreciate the irony here.
Apparently, in front of that institution which allegedly exists to protect citizens under the Constitution and Bill of Rights, peaceful free speech has been banned.
