Now independent thinkers are considered diseased by psychiatry

Psychiatrists have been working on the fourth revision of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) and, in it, they hope to add a whole slew of new psychiatric disorders. Unfortunately, many of these disorders are merely differences in personality and behavior among people.

The new edition may include "disorders" like "oppositional defiant disorder", which includes people who have a pattern of "negativistic, defiant, disobedient and hostile behavior toward authority figures." Some of the "symptoms" of this disorder including losing one's temper, annoying people and being "touchy".

Other "disorders" being considered include personality flaws like antisocial behavior, arrogance, cynicism or narcissism. There are even categories for people who binge eat and children who have temper tantrums.

Genetically modified crops failing worldwide

[link to www.examiner.com]

The Green Revolution -- a misleading name applied by PR firms to the onset of globalized, chemical-intensive, industrial agriculture that is anything but friendly to the environment -- is coming unraveled around the world, bringing devastation to farmers from the plains of China to the plains of America.

It was revealed last week that China is dealing with an explosive infestation of the formerly inconsequential mirid bug in its orchards and cotton fields. The bug's population exploded as a result of widespread planting of cotton that had been genetically altered to be resistant to the bollworm, formerly cotton's worst enemy. Cotton farmers stopped spraying insecticides, since their plants shrugged off the bollworms, and thus allowed other insects, especially the mirid bug, to multiply without interference.

According to a study published last week by Kongming Wu at the State Key Laboratory for Biology of Plant Diseases and Insect Pests in Beijing (reported by Reuters), the mirid bug is now laying waste to orchards and cotton fields in at least six provinces in Northern China, affecting 10 million farmers. Controlling one pest, as chemical companies boast frequently that they have discovered how to do, inevitably unleashes others in a cascade of unintended consequences. The lesson in this case, according to Wu, is that "We have to study the whole ecosystem." Indeed.

Similar effects are being felt by farmer in the American breadbasket as the result of their reliance on a single chemical. For decades, chemical farming was limited by the fact that pesticides were terribly persistent and toxic, and while they could kill broadleaf weeds without affecting cereal crops with narrow leaves, they could not distinguish between narrow-leafed weeds and those cereal crops, such as corn. Then Monsanto came up with Roundup, a glyphosate killer of weeds both broad- and narrow-leafed, that broke down quickly into inert compounds, and it then introduced genetically engineered seeds that produced crops that were immune to Roundup. (For more details see my book, Brace for Impact: Surviving the Crash of the Industrial Age by Sustainable Living.)

Haitian Farmers Commit to Burning Monsanto Hybrid Seeds

“A new earthquake” is what peasant farmer leader Chavannes Jean-Baptiste of the Peasant Movement of Papay (MPP) called the news that Monsanto will be donating 60,000 seed sacks (475 tons) of hybrid corn seeds and vegetable seeds, some of them treated with highly toxic pesticides. The MPP has committed to burning Monsanto’s seeds, and has called for a march to protest the corporation’s presence in Haiti on June 4, for World Environment Day.

In an open letter sent of May 14, Chavannes Jean-Baptiste, the Executive Director of MPP and the spokesperson for the National Peasant Movement of the Congress of Papay (MPNKP), called the entry of Monsanto seeds into Haiti “a very strong attack on small agriculture, on farmers, on biodiversity, on Creole seeds…, and on what is left our environment in Haiti.”[1] Haitian social movements have been vocal in their opposition to agribusiness imports of seeds and food, which undermines local production with local seed stocks. They have expressed special concern about the import of genetically modified organisms (GMOs).

Together with Syngenta, Dupont and Bayer, Monsanto controls more than half of the world’s seeds.[8] The company holds almost 650 seed patents, most of them for cotton, corn and soy, and almost 30% of the share of all biotech research and development. Monsanto came to own such a vast supply by buying major seed companies to stifle competition, patenting genetic modifications to plant varieties, and suing small farmers. Monsanto is also one of the leading manufacturers of GMOs.

Obama Czar Wants Mandatory Government Propaganda On Political Websites

Cass Sunstein, who wrote a white paper calling for “conspiracy theories” to be banned, wants to legally force Americans to “do what’s best for our society” and dilute their own free speech

Disturbing audio has emerged of White House information czar Cass Sunstein, who in a previous white paper called for banning “conspiracy theories,” demanding that websites be mandated by law to link to opposing information or that pop ups containing government propaganda be forcibly included on political blogs.

In an audio excerpt of an interview which was posted on the Breitbart.tv website today, Sunstein discusses how conservative websites should provide links to liberal websites and vice versa or even how political blogs should be made to include pop ups that show “a quick argument for a competing view”.

Sunstein said that if this system couldn’t be implemented voluntarily, “Congress should hold hearings about mandates,” which would legally force people to dilute their own free speech. The Harvard Professor also said that blogs should be forced to list a random draw of 25 popular websites, such as CNN.com.

“The best would be for this to be done voluntarily,” said Sunstein, “But the word voluntary is a little complicated and people sometimes don’t do what’s best for our society,” he added (emphasis mine).

“The idea would be to have a legal mandate as the last resort….an ultimate weapon designed to encourage people to do better,” Sunstein concluded.

As we previously reported, in a January 2008 white paper entitled “Conspiracy Theories,” the Harvard Professor who is currently President Obama’s head of information technology in the White House called for “conspiracy theories,” that is any political opinion which didn’t concur with the establishment view, to be taxed or even banned outright.

In a set of proposals designed to counter “dangerous” ideas, Sunstein suggested that the government could, “ban conspiracy theorizing,” or “impose some kind of tax, financial or otherwise, on those who disseminate such theories”.

So-called “conspiracy theories that Sunstein said could be subject to government censorship included beliefs held by the vast majority of Americans, such as the notion that the JFK assassination occurred as part of a wider plot.

In his white paper, Sunstein also cited the belief that “global warming is a deliberate fraud” as another marginal conspiracy theory to be countered by government censorship.

Oh look, right on schedule...an "anarchist" group is going to be there at the G20:

http://www.thestar.com/news/gta/article/811291--anarchist-group-claims-responsibility-for-ottawa-bank-firebombing?bn=1

An anarchist group claimed responsibility for firebombing an Ottawa bank Tuesday and vowed to bring its cause to the G8 and G20 summits.

The group, which identified itself as FFFC, posted a video of the bombing online, accompanied by a message criticizing Royal Bank of Canada for being “a major sponsor of the recently concluded 2010 Olympics on stolen indigenous land.”

Just when the pigs in black need them most right? These jokers have been present at every "G" meeting smashing windows, and have also been caught being hustled behind police lines to safety. Ergo, they work for the pigs (and usually ARE pigs in disguise).

Obama starts deploying interrogation teams

WASHINGTON (Reuters)

The Obama administration has started using special law enforcement and intelligence teams to interrogate suspected militants in the United States and abroad, including the Pakistani-American arrested in the Times Square bombing plot, a top official said on Tuesday.

U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder announced the formation of the High-Value Detainee Interrogation Group (HIG) in August and gave the reins to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, replacing the Central Intelligence Agency that did have the lead role in intelligence interrogations.

The program calls for the deployment of Mobile Interrogation Teams, made up of specialists from across the law enforcement and intelligence community, to question important detainees, whether they are in U.S. custody or in the custody of a foreign government.

Webmaster's Commentary:

"We can report that Shahzad has confessed to the Times Square bombing and being a member of Al Qaeda, as well as the assassinations of Kennedy and Lincoln, the shoot-downs of Challenger, Columbia, and the Hindenburg, the blowing up of the Deepwater Horizon, and being Jack the Ripper!" -- Official White Horse Souse

Obama wins the right to detain people with no habeas review

Immediately following Boumediene, the Bush administration argued that the decision was inapplicable to detainees at Bagram — including even those detained outside of Afghanistan but then flown to Afghanistan to be imprisoned. Amazingly, the Bush DOJ — in a lawsuit brought by Bagram detainees seeking habeas review of their detention — contended that if they abduct someone and ship them to Guantanamo, then that person (under Boumediene) has the right to a habeas hearing, but if they instead ship them to Bagram, then the detainee has no rights of any kind. In other words, the detainee’s Constitutional rights depends on where the Government decides to drop them off to be encaged.

But last April, John Bates, the Bush-43-appointed, right-wing judge overseeing the case, rejected the Bush/Obama position and held that Boumediene applies to detainees picked up outside of Afghanistan and then shipped to Bagram. I reviewed that ruling here, in which Judge Bates explained that the Bagram detainees are “virtually identical to the detainees in Boumediene,” and that the Constitutional issue was exactly the same: namely, “the concern that the President could move detainees physically beyond the reach of the Constitution and detain them indefinitely.”

But the Obama administration was undeterred by this loss. They quickly appealed Judge Bates’ ruling. As the NYT put it about that appeal: ”The decision signaled that the administration was not backing down in its effort to maintain the power to imprison terrorism suspects for extended periods without judicial oversight.” Today, a three-judge panel of the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals adopted the Bush/Obama position, holding that even detainees abducted outside of Afghanistan and then shipped to Bagram have no right to contest the legitimacy of their detention in a U.S. federal court, because Boumediene does not apply to prisons located within war zones (such as Afghanistan).

So congratulations to the United States and Barack Obama for winning the power to abduct people anywhere in the world and then imprison them for as long as they want with no judicial review of any kind.

Report: Facebook caught sharing secret data with advertisers

The privacy issues that have been hounding Facebook may be coming to a head. A report in the Wall Street Journal indicates that the Facebook, along with MySpace, Digg, and a handful of other social-networking sites, have been sharing users' personal data with advertisers without users' knowledge or consent.

The data shared includes names, user IDs, and other information sufficient to enable ad companies such as the Google-owned DoubleClick to identify distinct user profiles. Some of the sites in question, including MySpace and Facebook, stopped sharing the data after the Journal asked them about it. The surreptitious data sharing was first noticed (PDF) by researchers from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and AT&T Labs in August 2009, who brought it up with the sites in question. It wasn't until WSJ contacted them that changes were made.

Not surprisingly, Facebook appears to have gone farther than the other sites when it comes to sharing data. When Facebook's users clicked on ads appearing on a profile page, the site would at times provide data such as the username behind the click, as well as the user whose profile page from which the click came. "If you are looking at your profile page and you click on an ad, you are telling that advertiser who you are," Harvard Business School professor Ben Edelman told the Journal. Advertisers contacted by the paper said that they were unaware of the additional data and did not make use of it.

Facebook has tweaked its privacy policy throughout its history, with the most recent moves to open up more user information to the public drawing heavy criticism and FTC complaints. Users have also had a tough time navigating the site's often-Byzantine privacy controls, which has led to a trickle of user defections. With these latest revelations about Facebook ignoring industry standards, not to mention its own privacy policies, that trickle may turn into a torrent.

UC Berkeley Requesting DNA Samples from Incoming Students

These Are Your Genes. These Are Your Genes On Alcohol Berkeley's incoming freshmen will get DNA tests instead of summer reading assignments, in a program meant to educate students about healthy behaviors. wikimedia commons/Human Genome Project

First universities started using RFID chips to track students' attendance. Now they want their DNA. The University of California-Berkeley, that bastion of hippiedom and experimentation, is replacing its summer reading list with a call for incoming students to voluntarily provide DNA samples.

New freshmen will be given cotton swabs with which to dab their cheeks. They'll be collected and anonymously analyzed, showing the students' ability to tolerate alcohol, absorb folic acid and metabolize lactose, according to USA Today. Students can log in to a Web site to check their results, using an anonymous bar code that comes with the cotton swabs.

The idea is to inform students if they should eat more salad, for instance, or limit their milk or alcohol intake.

House votes to expand national DNA arrest database

http://news.cnet.com/8301-13578_3-20005458-38.html

Millions of Americans arrested for but not convicted of crimes will likely have their DNA forcibly extracted and added to a national database, according to a bill approved by the U.S. House of Representatives on Tuesday.

By a 357 to 32 vote, the House approved legislation that will pay state governments to require DNA samples, which could mean drawing blood with a needle, from adults "arrested for" certain serious crimes. Not one Democrat voted against the database measure, which would hand out about $75 million to states that agree to make such testing mandatory.

"We should allow law enforcement to use all the technology available to them...to reduce expensive and unjust false convictions, bring closure to victims by solving cold cases, better identify criminals, and keep those who commit violent crime from walking the streets," said Rep. Harry Teague, the New Mexico Democrat who sponsored the bill.

But civil libertarians say DNA samples should be required only from people who have been convicted of crimes, and argue that if there is probable cause to believe that someone is involved in a crime, a judge can sign a warrant allowing a blood sample or cheek swab to be forcibly extracted.

World got 'lucky' with H1N1 flu, WHO chief says

The World Health Organization received backing from member states yesterday over its handling of the flu pandemic as WHO chief Margaret Chan said the world had been "lucky" with H1N1 flu.

As the WHO's annual assembly opened here, French Health Minister Roselyne Bachelot bluntly dismissed criticism of the UN health agency as "unjust."

With Flu Season Over, Canada Shows Flu Shot To Be Worse Than Worthless

Last September, a large study by Canadian scientists Danuta Skowronski and Gaston De Serres threw Canada into an uproar with their findings showing people who had prior "seasonal flu" shots were much more likely to come down with newly appeared H1N1 (Swine) flu illness.

When the dust had settled every Provincial Health Department but one, New Brunswick, declared seasonal flu shots would not be given until perhaps January of the new year, with only the new H1N1 vaccine immediately rushed into service. As it turned out by January first new flu cases had sunk to essentially zero so the seasonal flu shot became a moot point, having little appeal.

The results are in, and shatter the touted benefit claimed by flu shot advocates. New Brunswick's populace, the only Province in Canada urging people to take the seasonal flu vaccine early last October, came down with 50% higher flu sickness compared those Provinces that did not take the shot. This is shown by the prior four years flu data compiled weekly by the Public Health Agency of Canada, and comparing all of Canada's flu cases to cases only in New Brunswick. Anybody can access the informative official website called Canada Fluwatch and check for themselves, though it's a sure bet U.S. CDC officials will not even peek at anything across the border and counter to their in-house dogma.

In fact, last October in a world-wide teleconference to discuss Skowronski's and De Serres' Canada Study, U.S. CDC participants said they could not find any flaws in the Canada Study but nevertheless, no matter, Skowronski and De Serres just had to be incorrect. Is it not wonderful American citizens have such inquisitive, open minds at CDC? -- "just take your damn flu shot."

Bangkok in flames as protesters refuse to back down

Rioters set fires at the stock exchange, electricity headquarters, banks and government offices. Siam Theatre, a much loved city institution, collapsed in flames. Hundreds of people had to be rescued from the burning headquarters of Channel 3 television. The death toll since fresh outbreaks of violence on Thursday now stands at 51.

The government issued "shoot on site" orders for a dawn raid as troops tried to disperse 2,000 Red Shirts who had been camped in Rajprasong, the capital's premier shopping and office district, for more than six weeks.

Oops! MSNBC graphic suggests Taliban set fire to Bangkok

http://rawstory.com/rs/2010/0519/msnbc-suggests-taliban-responsible-bangkok-protests/

People watching MSNBC Wednesday morning could be forgiven for believing that the Taliban had invaded Bangkok. As NBC's Ian Williams reported on violent protests in the capital city of Thailand, a graphic on the lower third of MSNBC's screen read: "NEW TALIBAN ATTACKS, BANGKOK BURNS."

In truth, fires in the Thai capitol were not caused by the Taliban. Bangkok "burned" Wednesday because of rioting by anti-government protesters, according to The Associated Press.

The Establishment Is In Full Blown Panic Over Rand Paul

The establishment is in full blown panic over the runaway success of Kentucky primary winner Rand Paul and has set about attacking the son of Congressman Ron Paul from every conceivable angle in an attempt to undermine his support base and ensure his defeat by a Democratic opponent in November.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The online shills are out in full force trying to find any means possible to sever Rand Paul from his support base. You probably saw some of them here screaming that Rand Paul has not come out for 9-11 truth (no running candidate has; it is a moot point). But the sense of panic and the smell of fear is very real. And for an off-year election, this one will get very dirty.

Deepwater Horizon – Le geyser de pétrole se poursuit

requiem for the gulf

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kOkPGnaXsg8&feature=player_embedded

Webmaster's Commentary:

This disaster has gone way beyond Obama's Katrina. This is America's Chernobyl; a disaster that could have been avoided were it not for the corruption and connivance of the US Federal Government which allowed BP to bypass safety regulations, then attempted to cover-up the scale of the disaster.

The US Federal Government, trapped by its own mendacity of decades past, is unable to ever admit error, and too arrogant to even consider apologizing. They will, as was the case with the USSR and Chernobyl, continue to try to brazen out this disaster until all options to find a scapegoat and shift the financial liability onto the people are exhausted.

If all else fails, we can count on this government to stage a distraction, most likely a new major war, to shift the attention away from the Deepwater Horizon.

Memo to North Korea: Heads up, you are next on the list of "nations the US government has to slaughter to keep looking good in a mirror."

No cap on Big Oil liability

The protection of the Oil companies came in the form of the Oil Pollution Act, which includes a $75 million cap on damages that BP or any other oil company would be forced to pay in damages (other than oil removal costs, for which the company remains responsible).

To put this $75 million figure into perspective, it is worth noting that BP made $93 million in profit each day in the first three months of 2010.

In other words, the damages BP causes are moved off of its shoulders and onto the backs of the people and community, who must then pay for BP’s corporate-made disaster.

Gulf oil spill may be 19 times bigger than originally thought

The latest glimpse of video footage of the oil spill deep under the Gulf of Mexico indicates that around 95,000 barrels, or 4 million gallons, a day of crude oil may be spewing from the leaking wellhead, 19 times the previous estimate, an engineering professor told Congress on Wednesday.

BP bows to demands from Congress and scientists for live feed of oil leak

One month after the fiery collapse of the Deepwater Horizon, BP bowed to demands from scientists and members of Congress yesterday and said it would post a live video feed of the gusher of oil on the ocean floor.

The decision came only hours after a hearing in Congress in which BP was accused of withholding data from the ocean floor, and blocking efforts by independent scientists to come up with estimates for the amount of crude spewing into the Gulf each day.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This should have happened the day the oil rig exploded.

Heavy oil hits Louisiana shore, enters sea current

The first heavy oil from a giant Gulf of Mexico spill sloshed ashore in fragile Louisiana marshlands on Wednesday and part of the mess entered a powerful current that could carry it to Florida and beyond.

Florida Braces for Oil Spill, Impact on Tourism Industry

Floridians breathed a sigh of relief on Wednesday when the Coast Guard confirmed that the dozens of tar balls found washed up near Key West this week were not from the massive BP oil spill out in the Gulf of Mexico. But it was the briefest of respites. Almost simultaneously, the Coast Guard said tendrils of the BP spill had entered the Gulf's Loop Current, which could carry it not only toward Florida's west coast but down to the Florida Keys, and perhaps on to Miami's beaches, beginning as early as next week. Said Coast Guard Rear Admiral Paul Zukunft: "It would take an act of God" to avoid that scenario.

Nightmare scene as oil smothers Louisiana wetlands

Crude oil spread through fragile US marshlands Thursday, a month after a drilling rig blast released a devastating spill that now threatens Florida, Cuba and even beyond.

Oil has been pouring into the Gulf of Mexico since the massive April 20 explosion on the BP-leased Deepwater Horizon rig that killed 11 and ruptured an underwater well pipe.

While British Petroleum said Thursday that a tube was now siphoning away 3,000 barrels of oil a day from the leak, a nightmare scene was unfolding in Louisiana wetlands.

Cleaning oil-soaked wetlands may be impossible

The gooey oil washing into the maze of marshes along the Gulf Coast could prove impossible to remove, leaving a toxic stew lethal to fish and wildlife, government officials and independent scientists said.

Officials are considering some drastic and risky solutions: They could set the wetlands on fire or flood areas in hopes of floating out the oil.

They warn an aggressive cleanup could ruin the marshes and do more harm than good. The only viable option for many impacted areas is to do nothing and let nature break down the spill.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Unflipping believable.

This is precisely what deregulation in this industry has ultimately created: ecological havoc.

Media ignores Goldman Sachs' ties to Corexit dispersant

In a recent New York Times’ article “Less Toxic Dispersants Lose Out in BP Oil Spill Cleanup”, journalist Paula Quinlan questions why BP is using the toxic dispersant Corexit to clean up the oil when twelve other dispersants proved more effective in EPA testing.

Nowhere in the article does it mention that Goldman Sachs, the Blackstone Group and Apollo Management own Nalco, the producer of the 54 % effective, 100% toxic dispersant.

Fishermen Report Illness From BP Chemicals

More and more stories about sick fishermen are beginning to surface after the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

The fishermen are working out in the Gulf -- many of them all day, every day -- to clean up the spill. They said they blame their ailments on the chemicals that BP is using.

One fisherman said he felt like he was going to die over the weekend.

"I've been coughing up stuff," Gary Burris said. "Your lungs fill up."

Just Like 9/11? Oil Spill Responders Are Getting Sick … But Are Being Told They Don’t Need Any Safety Gear

The U.S. government suppressed health information after 9/11.

Because the government lied about the health risks involved, many heroic first responders didn’t use any real precautions, and so have gotten sick and died.

The same thing appears to be happening in connection with the Gulf oil spill.

BP won't change dispersant used in oil spill -- for now

BP plans to continue using a controversial subsea dispersant to break up a plume of oil gushing into the Gulf of Mexico, saying that the leading alternative could pose a risk over the long term, the EPA indicated Saturday.

The EPA issued a directive on Thursday, ordering BP to find, within 24 hours, a less toxic but equally effective chemical than its current product, Corexit 9500 -- and one that is available in sufficient quantities. The directive also gave the company 72 hours to stop applying it to the undersea gusher.

Corexit has been rated more toxic and less effective than many others on the list of 18 EPA-approved dispersants, according to testimony at a congressional hearing Wednesday.

BP and Coast Guard Blocking Media from Public Beaches

CBS has footage of their reporters being turned away from a public beach in Louisiana where they were filming oil washing up on shore.

According to Mother Nature Network's Karl Burkhart, his contacts in Louisiana have given him unconfirmed reports of equipment being turned away or confiscated.

BP Smoking Gun? Oil Giant Skipped Critical Testing Hours Before Explosion

New revelations about BP's operations on the Deepwater Horizon oil rig on the day of the explosion are being described as the smoking gun that proves the oil giant's culpability in the disaster.

Obama sheltered BP's Deepwater Horizon rig from regulatory requirement

Last year the Obama administration granted oil giant BP a special exemption from a legal requirement that it produce a detailed environmental impact study on the possible effects of its Deepwater Horizon drilling operation in the Gulf of Mexico, an article Wednesday in the Washington Post reveals.

Federal documents show that the Department of the Interior's Minerals Management Service (MMS) gave BP a "categorical exclusion" on April 6, 2009 to commence drilling with Deepwater Horizon even though it had not produced the impact study required by a law known as the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). The report would have included probable ecological consequences in the event of a spill.

BP's new insertion tube inside the leaking oil pipe - unfortunately - isn't doing very much.

Specifically, the Miami Herald points out that - according to the Coast Guard - the spill is getting worse in spite of the insertion tube:

BP calls in Costner's $26m vacuum cleaners to mop up huge oil spill

Desperate times call for desperate measures. So with hundreds of thousands of gallons of oil still spewing into the Gulf of Mexico each day, and its corporate image starting to resemble the tar-covered sea creatures now washing on to Louisiana's fragile shoreline, BP has called on Kevin Costner to help stave off environmental Armageddon.

The Hollywood star has been bobbing around the Mississippi Delta helping representatives of the British oil firm and US coastguard test-drive a stainless steel device called the Ocean Therapy. In a claim which sounds as unlikely as the plot premise of Waterworld, he says it can quickly and efficiently clean oil from tainted sea water.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Basically, this is a centrifuge system and while it works in theory and is a great gimmick for publicity for BP and Costner, the scale of the solution does not come close to matching the scale of the problem. This is on the order of a "look, we're at least truing to do something" PR stunt.

MIT Team Unveils Airplane that Uses 70 Percent Less Fuel

Today a team of researchers at MIT unveiled their latest feat of engineering — an airplane that uses 70% less fuel than conventional aircraft. The MIT team was one of six groups — and the only university led team — across the US chosen by NASA to help redesign current aircraft to increase fuel efficiency, lower emissions and allow planes to take off on shorter runways. The team accomplished all of NASA's set goals with their innovative D-series plane, lovingly referred to as the "double bubble".

North Korea Crisis Looms As Clinton Heads To Asia

AP Economics Writer Martin Crutsinger and Associated Press Writer Foster Klug contributed to this report.

North Korea denies it attacked the South Korean warship, and has said that sanctions or other forms of retaliation would trigger "all-out war," raising the prospect of an escalating crisis on the heavily armed Korean peninsula.

The U.S. has 28,500 troops in South Korea.

The centerpiece of Clinton's trip, which includes scheduled stops in Japan, China and South Korea, was supposed to be a new round of U.S.-China strategic and economic talks. Clinton is headed for Beijing on one leg of the the trip, where trade and other concerns may be eclipsed by efforts to get China to support new sanctions against North Korea in the U.N. Security Council.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Memo to Secretary of State Clinton: you know, as well as you know your own name, that China will not allow any new sanctions against North Korea at the Security Council.

The most prudent action at this point would be a lot of closed door consultations with your counterpart in Beijing to get North Korea back to the negotiating table, and for a true peace treaty to be signed to replace the armistice of 1953.

This would go a long way toward ratcheting down tensions in the region which, with current wars going (generally badly) on all over the world, the US absolutely doesn't need at this point.

Clinton: NKorea must face consequences for attack

http://www.kansascity.com/2010/05/21/1960544/clinton-nkorea-must-face-consequences.html?story_link=email_msg

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton says North Korea must face international consequences for the sinking of a South Korean warship.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The US Government is desperate for another war with which to distract the sheeple from the crashing economy, corruption, oil spills, and the already lost wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

The entire case for restarting the war with North Korea lies in a piece of metal with a number stamped on it which matches a number in a catalog of North Korean weapons sold around the world. Torpedo tubes are standard sized to facilitate this "commerce" around the world, so even if the piece of metal with a number stamped on it did come from a North Korean torpedo, that is far from conclusive proof that a North Korean submarine fired it. A US sub could have fired it. For that matter, some of the Israeli Dolphins are known to have exited the Mediterranean months ago, and providing there are surface ships to act as tenders, could easily have reached the Pacific.

Stop and think; why would North Korea do such a thing? If they truly wanted a resumption of the war would not their first strike be against a target with more strategic importance than a single ship?

US vows punishment for North Korea over ship sinking

The US state department says there "will definitely be consequences" for North Korea following the sinking of a South Korean warship in March. The North is facing international condemnation after investigators blamed it for sinking the ship, in which 46 sailors died. Pyongyang has rejected the claim as a "fabrication" and threatened war if sanctions are imposed. China has urged restraint and did not criticize the North.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Isn't that South Korea's call to make? After all, it was their ship, supposedly.

U.S. Implicates North Korean Leader in Attack

A new American intelligence analysis of a deadly torpedo attack on a South Korean warship concludes that Kim Jong-il, the ailing leader of North Korea, must have authorized the torpedo assault, according to senior American officials who cautioned that the assessment was based on their sense of the political dynamics there rather than hard evidence.

Of course it is interesting to note how Israel screams about North Korea's (and Iran's) nuclear weapons just as evidence surfaces probing Israel was offering to sell nuclear warheads to South Africa!

U.N. Command to probe investigation that blamed N. Korea for sinking ship

The United Nations Command said Friday that it will convene a special committee to review the investigation that concluded North Korea had torpedoed a South Korean patrol ship.

The review, initiated by the South Korean Defense Ministry, is in response to North Korea’s request to send its own team to investigate the wreckage, according to The Associated Press. The North has denied involvement since the sinking and has said repeatedly that continued accusations and condemnation could lead to war.

The U.N. Command’s Military Armistice Commission, which has overseen the truce between the two Koreas since the end of Korean War hostilities in 1953, would conduct a probe separate from the multinational investigation.

S.Korea cuts trade, sea lanes with North

South Korea Monday halted trade with North Korea as part of a package of reprisals for the sinking of one of its warships, drawing strong US support but threats of attack from the communist state.

President Lee Myung-Bak also banned the North's merchant ships from South Korean waters and said Seoul would refer the March 26 attack -- which killed 46 sailors -- to the United Nations Security Council for punishment.

In a nationally televised address, a sombre-looking Lee vowed an immediate military response to any future aggression.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Although this move is infinitely more symbolic than real, in terms of the actual amount of trade which really goes on between the two Koreas, it unfortunately sets the stage for some kind of (perhaps second) false flag action to really kick the region into a state of war.

U.S., South Korea plan military exercises

U.S. military told to get ready in Korea standoff

In a statement, the White House said Seoul can continue to count on the full backing of the United States and said U.S. military commanders had been told to work with their South Korean counterparts "to ensure readiness and to deter future aggression."

The administration said it endorsed President Lee Myung-bak's demand that "North Korea immediately apologize and punish those responsible for the attack, and, most importantly, stop its belligerent and threatening behavior."

Webmaster's Commentary:

Note that no where in this article does it mention that either the South Korean or the US military are actually at a heightened state of alert.

This is political posturing, nothing more; nothing less.

Report: SKorea Warned of NKorean Submarine Attack

Military intelligence officers warned earlier this year that North Korea was preparing a suicide submarine attack on a South Korean vessel in retaliation for an earlier defeat in a sea battle, a newspaper said Thursday.

Webmaster's Commentary:

So the official bullshit, 'scuse me, the official story is now that South Korea KNEW North Korea was planning an attack, and still the noisy North Korean submarine managed to penetrate deep into South Korean waters, right into the middle of a naval exercise that included three US warships fully equipped for anti-submarine warfare, approached undetected, attacked, and escaped undetected?

That weak-ass lame story the best our "intelligence" people can come up with?!?

South Korea Wins US Support For Slashing Trade To N Korea

Tensions rise in Korea as Obama promises military support

Tensions have escalated sharply on the Korean Peninsular, where the sinking of a South Korean warship has created a "highly precarious" situation, increasing the risk of a flare-up in the 60-year old conflict, Hillary Clinton, the US secretary of state, warned on Monday.

Her remarks came hours after South Korea announced it was cutting off all trade with the North in retaliation for the deliberate sinking of the Cheonan in March and vowed "immediate" retaliation if North Korean attempted further provocations.

Pyongyang sees US role in Cheonan sinking

Despite its strong denial of any involvement and expressions of sympathy for lost fellow Koreans, fingers are being pointed at North Korea over the tragic sinking of the 1,200-ton South Korean corvette Cheonan in the West Sea or Yellow Sea on the night of March 26.

"A North Korean torpedo attack was the most likely cause for the sinking of a South Korean warship last month," an unnamed US military official told CNN on April 26. Up to 46 of the ship's 104 sailors were killed in the sinking.

Apparently, North Korea is being set up as the fall guy in an incident that is so mysterious that a Los Angeles Times April 26 story datelined Seoul was headlined, "James Bond Theories Arise in Korean Ship Sinking".

Webmaster's Commentary:

PLEASE POST THE FOLLOWING EVERYWHERE THE "BLAME KOREA" STORIES POP UP.

Now that the UN is asking for a look at the evidence for the sinking, the US is admitting the torpedo debris from the sinking comes from a GERMAN torpedo, but we are supposed to somehow assume that a German torpedo still points the finger of blame at North Korea.

HISTORICAL NOTES ON HOW TO START WARS WITH SINKING SHIPS.

President McKinley told the American people that the USS Maine had been sunk in Havana Harbor by a Spanish mine. The American people, outraged by this apparent unprovoked attack, supported the Spanish American War. The Captain of the USS Maine had insisted the ship was sunk by a coal bin explosion, investigations after the war proved that such had indeed been the case. There had been no mine.

FDR claimed Pearl Harbor was a surprise
attack.
It wasn't.
The United States saw war with Japan as the means to get into war with Germany, which Americans opposed. So Roosevelt needed Japan to appear to strike first. Following an 8-step plan devised by the Office of Naval Intelligence, Roosevelt intentionally provoked Japan into the attack. Contrary to the official story, the fleet did not maintain radio silence, but sent messages intercepted and decoded by US intercept stations. Tricked by the lie
of a surprise attack, Americans marched off to war.

President Johnson lied about the
Gulf of Tonkin to send Americans off to fight in Vietnam.

There were no torpedoes in the water in the Gulf. LBJ took advantage of an inexperienced sonar man's report to goad Congress into escalating the Vietnam War.

So far, no hard evidence has been produced linking North Korea to the disaster. However, this has not stopped media and experts from holding the North responsible. The South Korean daily Chosun Ilbo wrote on April 29, "It is difficult to imagine a country other than North Korea launching a torpedo attack against a South Korean warship."

Revealing circumstantial evidence
Is it possible that North Korea carried out the daring act of torpedoing a South Korean corvette participating in a US-South Korean war exercise? The answer is a categorical no. The circumstantial evidence is quite revealing, showing who is the more likely culprit.

Mission impossible
There are four important points that make it clear that a North Korean submarine did not sink the South Korean corvette.

Fact 1.North Korean submarines are not stealthy enough to penetrate heavily guarded South Korean waters at night and remain undetected by the highly touted anti-submarine warfare units of the American and South Korean forces. A North Korean submarine would be unable to outmaneuver an awesome array of high-tech Aegis warships, identify the corvette Cheonan and then slice it in two with a torpedo before escaping unscathed, leaving no trace of its identity.

Fact 2. The sinking took place not in North Korean waters but well inside tightly guarded South Korean waters, where a slow-moving North Korean submarine would have great difficulty operating covertly and safely, unless it was equipped with AIP (air-independent propulsion) technology.

Fact 2: The disaster took place precisely in the waters where what the Pentagon has called "one of the world's largest simulated exercises" was underway. This war exercise, known as "Key Resolve/Foal Eagle" did not end on March 18 as was reported but actually ran from March 18 to April 30.

Fact 3: The Key Resolve/Foal Eagle exercise on the West Sea near the Northern Limit Line (NLL) was aimed at keeping a more watchful eye on North Korea as well as training for the destruction of weapons of mass destruction in the North. It involved scores of shiny, ultra-modern US and South Korean warships equipped with the latest technology.

Fact 4: Deputy Secretary of State James Steinberg said on March 30 that he doubted there was North Korean involvement in the sinking: "Obviously the full investigation needs to go forward. But to my knowledge, there's no reason to believe or to be concerned that that may have been the cause."

Friendly fire
Seven facts indicate friendly fire as the most likely cause of the naval disaster. It may be no exaggeration to say that the South Korean president and his military leaders have shed crocodile tears over the dead South Korean sailors.

A torpedo could have been launched from any of the American or South Korean warships or warplanes taking part in the Foal Eagle exercise alongside the hapless Cheonan.

Probe concludes torpedo sank South Korea ship

The metallic debris and chemical residue appear to be consistent with a type of torpedo made in Germany, indicating the North may have been trying to disguise its involvement by avoiding arms made by allies China and Russia, Yonhap quoted the official as saying.

Webmaster's Commentary:

So the story changes and now that the UN is asking for a look, the US is admitting the torpedo debris from the sinking comes from a GERMAN torpedo, but we are supposed to somehow assume that a German torpedo still points the finger of blame at North Korea.

North Korea Demands Access to Sunken Warship Investigation

North Korea is demanding South Korea give it access to an investigation that has blamed Pyongyang for sinking a South Korean warship.

North Korea said Saturday it wants its own investigators to review the evidence, and accused South Korea of faking the incident from the beginning.

THE BIG LIE SELLING YOU WAR WITH NORTH KOREA

In short, the torpedo recovered from the ocean where Cheosan was attacked is NOT the same torpedo shown in the North Korean plans. As I stated above, there are additional differences as well between the blueprints and the actual torpedo, but the actuators are the clincher.

The torpedo recovered fronm the oceasn where the Cheosan was sunk is not the North Korean torpedo shown in the blueprints.

U.S. And NATO Accelerate Military Build-Up In Black Sea Region

http://globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=19259

In the post-Cold War era and especially since 2001 the Pentagon has been steadily shifting emphasis, and moving troops and equipment, from bases in Germany and Italy to Eastern Europe in its drive to the east and the south.

That process was preceded and augmented by the absorption of former Eastern Bloc nations into the North Atlantic Treaty Organization beginning in 1999. In one of the first nations in that category, Poland, the initial contingent of what will be over 100 U.S. troops arrived in the town of Morag this week, as near as 35 miles from Russian territory, as part of a Status of Forces Agreement between Washington and the host country ratified this February.

Also in February, the governments of the Black Sea nations of Romania and Bulgaria confirmed plans for the U.S. to deploy a land-based version of Standard Missile-3 anti-ballistic interceptors on their territory.

The U.S. Sixth Fleet, headquartered in Italy, has deployed warships to the Black Sea with an increased frequency over the past few years, visiting and conducting joint drills with the navies of Bulgaria, Romania and Georgia.

Last autumn it was revealed that the Pentagon planned to spend $110 million dollars to upgrade and modernize a base in Bulgaria and another in Romania, two of seven such newly-acquired installations in the two nations.

The air, naval and infantry bases in Bulgaria and Romania have been employed for the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq and, although not publicly acknowledged, doubtlessly for arming Georgia before, during and since its five-day war with Russia in August of 2008.

The establishment of U.S. and NATO naval, air and infantry bases and interceptor missile installations in Black Sea nations is the prototype for expansive and permanent military build-ups in Eastern Europe and into former Soviet space, which is being replicated in the Baltic Sea region. An imaginary Iranian threat is the subterfuge employed to justify the presence of U.S. and NATO warplanes, warships, troops, mechanized and airborne units, missile batteries, training centers and radar facilities in the Black Sea and Baltic Sea regions.

Iran does not border either of the two seas and has neither the ability nor any reason to threaten nations that do.

US Begins Massive Military Build Up Around Iran, Sending Up To 4 New Carrier Groups In Region

As if uncontrollable economic contagion was not enough for the administration, Obama is now willing to add geopolitical risk to the current extremely precarious economic and financial situation. Over at Debkafile we read that the president has decided to "boost US military strength in the Mediterranean and Persian Gulf regions in the short term with an extra air and naval strike forces and 6,000 Marine and sea combatants." With just one aircraft carrier in proximity to Iran, the Nobel peace prize winner has decided to send a clear message that peace will no longer be tolerated, and has decided to increase the US aircraft carrier presence in the region by a 400-500% CAGR.

Pentagon Plan to Beef Up Afghan Base Near Iran May Rile Regime

By Tony Capaccio | Bloomberg | May 21, 2010

A U.S. plan to upgrade its airbase in southwestern Afghanistan just 20 miles from Iran’s border will likely rile the Islamic regime, bolstering suspicions the West is trying to pressure

The Defense Department is requesting $131 million in its fiscal year 2011 budget to upgrade Shindand Air Base so it can accommodate more commando helicopters, drone surveillance aircraft, fuel and munitions.

Plans to expand the base come as the U.S. works to strengthen the militaries and missile defenses of allies in the region and presses at the United Nations for a new round of sanctions aimed at forcing Iran to curb its nuclear program.

Canada's Federal Debt

Interest on public debt costs $170-million a day

http://www.canadianactionparty.ca/component/content/article/317-interest-on-public-debt-costs-170-million-a-day

Canadians paid $170-million per day in 2008/09 in unnecessary interest on federal, provincial and municipal debt. The cost for 2009/10 and subsequent years will likely be higher. These costs are reflected in taxes, fees, cut-backs in public services such as education and medicare and deterioration of infrastructure such as roads, sewers, water lines and affordable housing.

If our government had been using its own Bank, the Bank of Canada, as it should have for the past 35 years we would not be in this situation. From 1867 to 1974 the accumulated federal debt amounted to $18-billion, and during that time we paid for two world wars and other smaller ones, built the trans-Canada highway, contributed to construction of the St. Lawrence Seaway, built housing, provided funds for our veterans to go to school, brought in the Canada Pension Plan and made Medicare a national service.

In 1974 the government, which had been borrowing from its own bank since 1938 at near zero interest, decided to borrow less from there and more from the private sector at market rates of interest. The result was a huge increase in federal debt from $18-billion to $588-billion in 1997, with a total debt for all levels of government of over $900-billion.

In 2009 federal debt stood at $464-billion, but by 2015 it will be up to $622-billion. Federal debt charges, currently at $31-billion, will grow accordingly and based on previous figures the total debt charges for all levels of government will be about double the federal charges.

Economists tell us there are only three ways to reduce the deficit: grow the economy, raise taxes or cut expenses. We could cut back on public services such as health care, education, housing and infrastructure. That would save a bundle, but it would also make life for most Canadians much more difficult. BUT WAIT! Instead of cutting services we could cut interest paid on the public debt. The federal government can do this by borrowing from its own Bank at near zero interest, and to prevent the creation of too much money it can bring back the statutory reserves. This would lead to a reduction in the profits of the commercial banks and less income for holders of government bonds, but most Canadians would be unaffected.

Government's indebtedness to private financiers gives that sector undue influence on government policy, leading to decisions which benefit the interests of the private sector foremost rather than that of the community as a whole.

To reduce the influence of the private sector and to save taxpayers billions of dollars every year we should only elect politicians who support using the Bank of Canada for financing public debt and restoring the statutory reserves.

Canada's brewing debt storm

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/report-on-business/canadas-brewing-debt-storm/article1537623/

For every $1 of disposable income, Canadians owe a record $1.47. How did it come to this?

Household debt has surged three time faster than income in recent years and now stands at a record high of more than $1-trillion. Put another way, Canadians owe about $1.47 for every dollar of disposable income. Even more remarkably, they took on more debt during the slump – a first for a recession – because borrowing was so cheap.

With debt levels this high, even a small hike in interest rates will be ugly for those whose incomes aren't rising fast enough to meet their day-to-day expenses.

Cdns face tough choices on future of government services

By The Canadian Press

MONTREAL - The former governor of the Bank of Canada is urging Canadians to have an "adult conversation" about the future of government services.

David Dodge says politicians have yet to confront the stark choice between raising taxes or cutting services.

"They've assumed away the problem and you cannot assume it away," he told reporters in Montreal.

"You really have to say how you're going to deal with it.... we need an adult discussion of how we're going to do it."

Dodge made the comments after addressing the Liberal party's thinkers conference, which while billed as a non-partisan event will help the party develop its campaign platform for the next election.

The man who lead the central bank until 2008 delivered a grim assessment of the country's ability to pay for the current spectrum of services in the near future.

In a speech to delegates, he said increasing productivity was necessary to offset the costs of caring for Canada's aging population.

"Without productivity improvement, we will condemn ourselves to a standard of living which is in decline relative to the rest of the world this decade and in absolute decline in the next decade," Dodge said.

He also suggested federal and provincial governments take a phased approach to balancing their budgets, ideally over a four-year period. He told reporters that the federal government was right to put off making drastic cuts in this year's budget, as the economic recovery is still fragile.

Dodge said Canadians must be ready to address the issue of how to pay for government services now rather than several years down the road.

"We're not going to grow out of it magically," he said.

"There is no magic here. We're going to have to come to that rather tough discussion and set out tough plans, really starting next year, as to how we go forward.

The thinkers conference runs until Sunday.

The Great Banking Scam
Must Watch

Who do the banks owe money to? Are those hedge funds affiliated with
the very banks that were bailed out? Prof. Chossudovsky explains. He
emphasizes the bailouts will not help the crisis, but will exacerbate
it. He explains that to pay for Obama's budget defecits, public roads
and parks will be sold off to private companies and banks, who will
charge user fees to citizens, and that these user fees will be used to
pay back the bailout money to the government. In short, the government
is helping the banks finance their own debt. He also says that bailed
out banks are using the bailout money to buy up assets in the real
economy ( such as industry, tech, & airline stocks) at rock bottom
prices, which will dramatically change the ownership structure in
America. Will this lead to the creation of a financial and industrial
oligarchy?

Is THIS how the bank bailout money is being used?

2010-4-7 1/2 Federal Reserve BANK CON exposed on MSNBC There is No Money

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gwm0ESZJSRI&feature=player_embedded

You know you’re being conned when the FBI reports that banks were responsible for 80% of the sub-prime criminal lending fraud, and then those same banks are rewarded with trillions of dollars from taxpayers with future guarantees of trillions more. You know you’re being played when the US Senate confirms that taxpayers lose $2 to $4 TRILLION every year from price manipulation yet continue to allow it. You know that you’re a sucker when the pinnacle con men from Goldman Sachs and the Fed rotate through the US Treasury Department’s “leadership.”

This link provides the documentation of the above, and the solutions. Lying for trillions of dollars is similar to lying for war: both involve the central questions of money and power.

American suckers are being played as slave laborers and debt peons in both cons.

"Never Even a Whisper" at Fed's Open Market Committee Meetings

Ben Bernanke, William Dudley and Donald L Kohn are on the Fed’s Open Market Committee (FOMC).

They are also on the board of directors of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) – often called the “central banks’ central bank”. And Kohn is an alternate director for BIS.

Alan Greenspan, of course, was a BIS director for many years.

Dudley is also chairman of BIS’ Committee on Payment and Settlement Systems. (Tim Geithner – previously on the FOMC – previously held that post).

So there is clearly quite a bit of overlap between the two groups.

In addition, BIS’ chief economist – William White – and others within BIS – repeatedly warned the Federal Reserve and other central banks that they were setting the world economy up for a fall by blowing bubbles and then using “using gimmicks and palliatives” which “will only make things worse”.

As Spiegel wrote last July:

White and his team of experts observed the real estate bubble developing in the United States. They criticized the increasingly impenetrable securitization business, vehemently pointed out the perils of risky loans and provided evidence of the lack of credibility of the rating agencies. In their view, the reason for the lack of restraint in the financial markets was that there was simply too much cheap money available on the market…

As far back as 2003, White implored central bankers to rethink their strategies, noting that instability in the financial markets had triggered inflation, the “villain” in the global economy…

In the restrained world of central bankers, it would have been difficult for White to express himself more clearly…

It was probably the biggest failure of the world’s central bankers since the founding of the BIS in 1930. They knew everything and did nothing. Their gigantic machinery of analysis kept spitting out new scenarios of doom, but they might as well have been transmitted directly into space…In their report, the BIS experts derisively described the techniques of rating agencies like Moody’s and Standard & Poor’s as “relatively crude” and noted that “some caution is in order in relation to the reliability of the results.”…

In January 2005, the BIS’s Committee on the Global Financial System sounded the alarm once again, noting that the risks associated with structured financial products were not being “fully appreciated by market participants.” Extreme market events, the experts argued, could “have unanticipated systemic consequences.”

They also cautioned against putting too much faith in the rating agencies, which suffered from a fatal flaw. Because the rating agencies were being paid by the companies they rated, the committee argued, there was a risk that they might rate some companies too highly and be reluctant to lower the ratings of others that should have been downgraded.

These comments show that the central bankers knew exactly what was going on, a full two-and-a-half years before the big bang. All the ingredients of the looming disaster had been neatly laid out on the table in front of them: defective rating agencies, loans repackaged to the point of being unrecognizable, dubious practices of American mortgage lenders, the risks of low-interest policies. But no action was taken. Meanwhile, the Fed continued to raise interest rates in nothing more than tiny increments…

The Fed chairman was not even impressed by a letter the Mortgage Insurance Companies of America (MICA), a trade association of US mortgage providers, sent to the Fed on Sept. 23, 2005. In the letter, MICA warned that it was “very concerned” about some of the risky lending practices being applied in the US real estate market. The experts even speculated that the Fed might be operating on the basis of incorrect data. Despite a sharp increase in mortgages being approved for low-income borrowers, most banks were reporting to the Fed that they had not lowered their lending standards. According to a study MICA cited entitled “This Powder Keg Is Going to Blow,” there was no secondary market for these “nuclear mortgages.”…

William White and his Basel team were dumbstruck. The central bankers were simply ignoring their warnings. Didn’t they understand what they were being told? Or was it that they simply didn’t want to understand?

Is the Bank Tax a Major Step Toward World Government?

Finance ministers and central bank governors are in Washington D.C. this weekend for a G-20 meeting, in preparation for the G-20 Summit to held in November in South Korea.

Hyun Song Shin, special economic advisor to the President of South Korea, gave a briefing today at the National Press Club on the G-20 activities. I attended.

During the Q & A, I asked Shin if the plans for a global bank tax had caused concern by anyone at the G-20 meeting that the tax was moving in the direction of creating a one world government. His answer scared the hell out of me.

He said that, no it was not moving in that direction because "There is no legal basis for the meetings."

In other words, there are no restrictions on the G-20 participants. They are not part of any agency that has a specific mandate. They are not part of any global agreement. It's a wild west show, without any adult supervision.

Expect future moves in global domination to take this ad hoc approach. It results in fewer roadblocks and opposition because there is no, as Shin put it, legal basis for such meetings. It's just "members coming together where there is mutual benefit."

Once they have most of a particular plan down and in place, they will form some organization to patrol what they have created for a given sector, but the serious planning is done at these wild west events.

As for the specifics of the global bank tax, as I pointed out on Wednesday, when discussing the tax:

One key point to note is that the tax will be based on "riskiness" where government paper will most assuredly be ranked as least risky, thus driving banks funds in the direction of propping up the government debt sector at the expense of the productive private sector.

The tax can thus be used to drive funds to the government financial securities markets and to other politically favored investment sectors. If a sector isn't in good favor with the global elite, they will tax financial instruments coming out of that sector at a higher rate. Banks will make a lot fewer loans in sectors where instruments are heavily taxed.

Manipulative macro madness will be upon us with this move. The coming control of the financial sector at a global level will be something never before seen on the planet. The global elite are winning.

Les banques modernes ont créé ce désastre économique global pour implémenter leur gouvernance globale par les les banquiers privés.

“The IMF was never designed to help the Third World or end poverty. It was established by the Bretton Woods conference of 1944 to restore economic and financial order to the Western world. There was no element of compassion for humanity in its formulation. The Fund’s aim is first and foremost to assure the interests of developed countries. We make or break human life every day of every year as probably no other force has ever done in the past or will ever do again.” — senior IMF economist Davison Budhoo

How Goldman Sachs (Rothschild's) took over the world

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/business/analysis-and-features/how-goldman-sachs-took-over-the-world-873869.html

Well they are the most powerful firm on Wallstreet but actually they are an outlet of the Rothschild's who have spread their power under different names into this century and the prior one. They create new entities to hide the web the have created of which the Bilderberger is one and Soros is another. The 30 mil. think tank I wrote about in an earlier post is the brain of the Obama administration and his closest advisers are all from the Rothshild boys from RUBIN, SUMMERS, VOLCKER and second tier next generation breed like Geithner. Emanuel and many more.

Rockefeller's,Ford the Bush family belongs to them as the Clinton's work for them. One very easy proof is the remaining official Rothschild's fortune is petty cash compared to my calculation how much the fortunes of them should be worth easily in the trillion league. Compared to the pathetic list Forbes publishes every year about Gates and Buffett who are also members of the Club. Imagine it like the middle ages with kings and lords who share one big interest and we are close to the real picture. The idea of democracy is the Matrix cover to run their business as it is easier to screw with people as long as they think they have a saying to what is going on. The list below gives some ideas but there are far more names and they are not only from Goldman they have different breeding organisations like the IMF and Worldbank.

Excerpt

They are well-credentialed, partly by design. From its beginning when the German immigrant Marcus Goldman began discounting IOUs among the diamond merchants of New York in the 1870s, Goldman Sachs has always known about the power of the network of influence. Goldman hires former politicians and civil servants, as readily as it supplies them.

And then there is simply the intellectual quality of the employees, many hired as much youngster men via a gruelling interview process, and then forged in the fire of 17-hour work days.

With Goldman Sachs at the heart of Wall Street, and Wall Street at the heart of the US economy, few expects its power to wane. Indeed, The New York Times columnist David Brooks noted that Goldman Sachs employees have given more money to Barack Obama's campaign for president than workers of any other employer in the US. "Over the past few years, people from Goldman Sachs have assumed control over large parts of the federal government," Brooks noted grimly. "Over the next few they might just take over the whole darn thing."

John Thornton

From his post as professor and director of global leadership at Tsinghua University in Beijing, the former Goldman Sachs co-chief operating officer John Thornton has become a highly-influential figure in the developing business and poltical inter-relations between the US and China. He was Goldman's boss in Asia in the mid-Nineties and remains well connected in the East and the West.

Duncan Niederauer

Wall Streeters joked about a Goldman Sachs "takeover" of the New York Stock Exchange. Hank Paulson, the Goldman boss on the NYSE board, moved to oust the chairman, Dick Grasso, and recommended the then chief operating officer of Goldman, John Thain, as Mr Grasso's replacement. Mr Thain modernised the exchange as demanded by Goldman, and Mr Thain's old Goldman deputy, Duncan Niederauer, is in charge.

Jon Corzine

The former co-chief executive of Goldman went into full-time politics in 1999, having lost the internal power struggle that preceded the company's stock-market flotation in 1999. He has been governor of New Jersey since 2006, having spent the previous six years in the US Senate. His 2000 Senate election campaign was then the most expensive ever in the US, and Corzine spent $62m of his own money.

Joshua Bolten

For five years until 1999, Mr Bolten served as director of legal affairs for Goldman based in London, effectively making him the bank's chief lobbyist to the EU. The Republican lawyer aided George Bush's 2000 election campaign, helped co-ordinate policy in the White House and has been the President's chief of staff since 2006.

Paul Deighton

The man heading London's planning for the 2012 Olympic Games, Paul Deighton amassed a fortune estimated at over £100m during his two decades at Goldman Sachs, where he had been one of its most powerful investment bankers.

Robert Rubin

A US Treasury secretary under Bill Clinton, Mr Rubin could once again emerge as a powerful figure in Washington if Barack Obama wins the presidency, since he has maintained his influence on Democrat politics. Mr Rubin reached the second-highest rung at Goldman, becoming co-chief operating officer before joining the US government in 1993.

Gavyn Davies

The ex-chairman of the BBC still has the ear of Gordon Brown, to whom he has been a good friend and informal adviser. He is married to the Prime Minister's aide Sue Nye. Mr Davies spent 15 years as an economist at Goldman. He was commissioned to report on the future funding of the BBC by Mr Brown in 1999. Two years later, he was poached to chair it.

Jim Cramer

This former Goldman trader is, without question, the most influential stock pundit in the US. Hectoring and shouting his investment advice nightly on his CNBC show, Mad Money, he routinely moves share prices. His primal scream against the Federal Reserve ("They know nothing") was a YouTube sensation last year, as the central bank refused to lower interest rates to ease the pain of the credit crisis on Wall Street.

Robert Zoellick

Goldman provided a lucrative home to Robert Zoellick, the neo-conservative Republican, between the time he quit as Condoleezza Rice's deputy at the State Department in 2006 (having not secured the job he coveted as Treasury Secretary, when it went to Hank Paulson) and his appointment last year as head of the World Bank. At Goldman he had acted as head of international affairs, a kind of global ambassador and networker-in-chief.

Mario Draghi

The head of the Italian central bank is another example of the revolving door between Goldman and public service. Mr Draghi had been an academic economist, an executive at the World Bank and a director-general of the Italian treasury before joining Goldman as a partner in 2002. He is becoming a significant figure in the response to the credit crisis, chairing the financial stability forum of central banks, finance ministries and regulators.

Malcolm Turnbull

Treasurer for the opposition Liberal Party, Mr Turnbull is one of the fastest-rising politicians in Australia. He was the aggressive advocate who took on and beat the British Government in the Spycatcher trial of the former MI5 agent Peter Walker, but he then pursued a career in business and ran Goldman Australia from 1997 to 2001, before jumping in to politics to serve as environment minister under John Howard.

Hank Paulson

Cometh the hour, cometh the man. President George Bush must be delighted he lured a reluctant Hank Paulson away from his $38m-a-year job as Goldman Sachs chief executive in 2006, just in time to deal with the Wall Street crisis that has engulfed the entire US economy. The bird-watching enthusiast had been a surprising choice as Treasury secretary, since his environmentalism was at odds with much of Bush's policy.

Metal$ are in the pits

http://www.nypost.com/p/news/business/metal_are_in_the_pits_2arTlGNbMK7mb1uJeVHb0O

There is no silver lining to the activities of JPMorgan Chase and HSBC in the precious-metals market here and in London, says a 40-year veteran of the metal pits.

The banks, which do the Federal Reserve's bidding in the metals markets, have long been the government's lead actors in keeping down the prices of gold and silver, according to a former Goldman Sachs trader working at the London Bullion Market Association.

Maguire was scheduled to testify last week before the Commodities Futures Trade Commission, which is looking into the activities of large banks in the metals market, but was knocked off the list at the last moment. So, he went public.

Maguire -- in an exclusive interview with The Post -- explained JPMorgan's role in the metals pits in both London and here, and how they can generate a profit either way the market moves.

"JPMorgan acts as an agent for the Federal Reserve; they act to halt the rise of gold and silver against the US dollar. JPMorgan is insulated from potential losses [on their short positions] by the Fed and/or the US taxpayer," Maguire said.

In the gold pits, Maguire sees HSBC betting against the precious metal's price without having any skin in the game in the form of a naked short.

"HSBC conducts an ongoing manipulative concentrated naked short position in gold. Silver is much easier to manipulate due to its much smaller [market] size," Maguire added.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The purveyors of pretty printed pieces of paper (stocks, fiat currencies, etc.) have clear motive to depress the prices of tangible assets such as silver and gold, in order to keep the suckers buying and selling the PPPoP, which can be inflated, and "Enronized" on demand.

Media Blackout – Wall Street Journal Hiding Andrew Maguire Revelation Of JP Morgan Chase Gold/Silver Manipulation

The entire world now knows that they hold evidence of a crime that is ongoing every single day. In fact, the world knows they were told of the crime in real time as it occurred, minute by minute. Their alleged job is to regulate the COMEX, and investigate crimes.

As there seem to be a couple Federal Judges left who are willing to uphold the law, the individuals in possession of knowledge of this crime are required to take action immediately, or confirm their role as accomplices by their inaction.

That the Wall Street Journal, CNBS, Fox Money, Bloomberg and all of the other US Mainstream Financial Media are not covering this story of the largest financial fraud in history makes them complicit on some level as well.

Fascism has finally confirmed its presence.

A London trader walks the CFTC through a silver manipulation in advance

http://www.gata.org/node/8466

On March 23, 2010, GATA Director Adrian Douglas was contacted by a whistleblower by the name of Andrew Maguire. Maguire is a metals trader in London. He has been told first-hand by traders working for JPMorganChase that JPMorganChase manipulates the precious metals markets, and they have bragged to how they make money doing so.

In November 2009 Maguire contacted the CFTC enforcement division to report this criminal activity. He described in detail the way JPMorgan Chase signals to the market its intention to take down the precious metals. Traders recognize these signals and make money shorting the metals alongside JPM. Maguire explained how there are routine market manipulations at the time of option expiry, non-farm payroll data releases, and COMEX contract rollover, as well as ad-hoc events.

This is how much the gold cartel fears the CFTC's enforcement division. They thumb their noses at you because in more than a decade of complaints and 18 months of a silver market manipulation investigation nothing has been done to stop them. And this is why JPM's cocky and arrogant traders in London are able to brag that they manipulate the market.

It's Going To Implode: Buy Physical Gold - NOW

Evidence seems to be mounting that we are headed towards some sort of implosion in the paper Gold market, and perhaps the currency/bond markets in general. Let’s take a look:

Webmaster's Commentary:

The paper gold market is massively shorted, even without the impact of the fake tungsten-filled gold bars.

Gold Could Explode To $3,000 As Confidence In Currencies Collapses

Financial analyst David Rosenberg says gold could explode to $3,000 an ounce as European investors dump the ailing euro in exchange for the precious metal while JP Morgan states that bullion could face unlimited demand as panic buying ensues on the back of crumbling confidence in fiat currencies.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Get ready for more tungsten fakes to flood the market and keep gold prices down and the suckers in the stock markets!

Ça pourrait aller même jusqu’à $5000 l’once, selon certains:

- Gold could touch $5,000 before this is all over…

Gold is once again above $1,200 and making new highs. And yet, Doug Casey thinks we’re just getting started, estimating gold could touch $5,000 before this is all over. A titillating thought, to be sure, but… how likely is that?

Gold’s latest rise stems from mounting fear that the Greek bailout will be followed by other euro-area countries queued for a me-too handout. In other words, gold is serving its historical role as a safe haven, a store of value, and an alternate form of money when governments recklessly plunge themselves heavily into debt and abuse their currency…..

Possédez-vous de l’or physique? Il se pourrait qu’un jour pas si lointain, la valeur du Dow Jones croise celui de l’or…

IMF gold holdings: why mine the stuff when your accountants can create it?

Last week Eric Sprott, who heads up the Sprott Physical Gold Trust (NYSE:PHYS), created a bit of a storm when he offered to buy the IMF's remaining 191.3 tons of gold for sale on the market. The IMF told him to piss off.

So the world started wondering if the IMF actually has the 3,005.3 metric tons of gold it claims. Or, if the US and other countries have the gold they claim to have.

Facts of life:

* Goldman has a multi-decade history of fraud going back to the 1920s

* Goldman was one of the ring leaders of the DotCom IPO scam of the 1990s

* By being willing to package and re-sell total garbage real estate loans, Goldman & other banks massively inflated real estate prices, defrauded investors all over the world, and brought the world financial system to the brink (and we're not out of the woods yet.)

Criminals...and if they didn't own the last three White Houses, some of them would be in jail.
