Psychiatrists want to call being angry a mental illness. How utterly mad!
The DSM is a large book that lists all psychiatric disorders and describes their symptoms. If a condition is in there, it means it’s considered a mental illness.
But some of the new entries are controversial, not least because of fears they will result in many more people being put on drugs that could be ineffective or dangerous.
The DSM is produced by the American Psychiatric Association and is hugely influential worldwide.
There have been three versions of the DSM since the first in 1952 and with each edition it has grown fatter. - DSM-IV is seven times larger than the original. Last week, a draft of DSM-V - due to be published in 2013 - was put on the web and is already proving contentious.
If you find it hard to throw out things of limited or no value, you could be suffering from hoarding disorder.
‘Hoarding’ is just one of the new mental conditions being added to the psychiatrists’ bible, or the Diagnostic And Statistical Manual Of Mental Disorders (DSM), to give it its proper name.
There’s also ‘intermittent explosive disorder’, which involves occasionally becoming very angry suddenly.
Most bizarre of the proposed additions is one defined as ‘getting a thrill at being outraged by pornography’.
‘The science underlying all this is very shaky to non-existent.’
However, critics have pointed out that 70 per cent of children said in the past to be at high risk of developing psychosis have not done so.
‘I completely understand the idea of trying to catch someone early,’ says Dr Michael First, professor of psychiatry at

There are two aspects to this.
First, for every emotion declared to be a disease there will be an immediate profit motive in creating drugs to treat the "illness." There will be a pill for sale to "treat" virtually every mood that humans experience, leading to the suppression of the individual into the drug-hazed group mind, as Aldous Huxley described in "Brave New World."
Second, by declaring normal human responses such as anger to be a disease, angry people (like those angry at the government) can be ignored and dismissed without addressing what it is that makes them angry. We don't need to understand why they are angry; they are just crazy people. We saw this last week with Joe Stack. The media paraded a therapist who without ever having actually met Joe Stack explained to us about his Narcissistic Personality Disorder and why we should pay no attention at all to his own written explanation of why he was so angry.

In the days since the crash, people pondering Mr. Stack’s unforgivable act have been surprised to find a reference in his note to an obscure federal tax law, Section 1706 of the 1986 tax act. Mr. Stack, a technology worker, claimed that the provision essentially declared him a “criminal and non-citizen slave” and ruined his career.
The story of Section 1706 is a curious one. Most American workers perform jobs as either employees or “self-employed” workers of a company — that is, independent contractors. Yet the common-law test used by the IRS to determine who is an actual employee is vague and unpredictable. The determination is often made years after a worker is hired, during an audit of the company.

So what it comes down to is that Joe Stack paid the taxes required by law, then the IRS, who has been ordered to loot the people any way they can to save the US Government from its own fiscal recklessness, IGNORES the Safe Harbor ruling, reclassifies Joe Stack, then imposes huge back taxes and fines on him.

People are reading "The Law That Never Was".

Man Bulldozes Home After Foreclosure

On Sunday, in an exclusive interview with Jonathan Karl of ABC News' "This Week," Cheney proclaimed his love of torture, derided the Obama administration for outlawing the practice, and admitted that the Bush White House ordered Justice Department attorneys to fix the law around the administration's policy interests.
"I was a big supporter of waterboarding," Cheney told Karl, as if he were issuing a challenge to officials in the current administration, including President Barack Obama, who said flatly last year that waterboarding is torture, to take action against him. We have already seen how established politicians have tried to take over the Tea Party Movement. The following is a list that most Americans can agree with:
1. Abolish the Federal Reserve System and return control over America
2. Criminal trials of those really behind the 9/11 attacks on America
3. Immediate end to the Iraqi War and to the Afghanistan War; full public investigations into war profiteering in both wars.
4. No further wars without a formal Declaration of War by Congress.
5. End all paid and professional lobbying of Congress and the Executive branch of government.
6. Federal financing of federal election campaigns with no Political Action Committees, no spending on elections by any corporation or organization, no donations to political candidates in federal elections exceeding $1,000 per person.
7. No use of computer voting or vote counting in federal elections. all voting to be on paper ballots, with voters using indelible ink on a thumb after voting, all vote counting to be done in public at each voting place, with results publicly posted at each voting place immediately after counting.
8. No foreign lobbying of Congress and the Executive Branch of government including AIPAC.
9. Tariffs on foreign manufactured goods entering America
10. Trust busting of the major banks and Wall Street firms and growing monopolies and concentrations of corporate ownership.
11. Trust busting of the concentration of news media ownership.
12. Criminal charges for those responsible for the economic crisis and economic restitution under RICO laws.
13. Criminal charges for those responsible for torture and other violations of the Bill of Rights of the US Constitution, no wiretapping without just cause and a specific individual court order, no viewing of phone/cell phone/Internet records without just cause and a specific court order.
14. No corporate or bank salary or bonus (or combination thereof) over $1 million per year.
15. A full return to Constitutional Law, including no signing statements, no Executive Orders, no federal usurping of state or private rights under the Constitution.

U.S. government wants farmers to spread toxic powder from coal plant scrubbers on their food crop fields
The federal government is pushing farmers to use a toxic byproduct of the coal burning industry to fertilize and loosen the soil in their crop fields. Initiated under the Bush administration as a beneficial use for the substance, efforts by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) in conjunction with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) continue to advocate for the widespread use of synthetic gypsum in agriculture.
Called flue gas desulfurization gypsum, or FGD gypsum, this synthetic powder is produced by coal plant "scrubbers" that remove sulfur dioxide from plant emissions. Sulfur dioxide is the chemical that causes acid rain to occur.
The current administration has been pushing for the agricultural use of FGD gypsum despite the fact that it is known to contain toxic heavy metals such as lead, mercury, and arsenic. According to the EPA, the mercury contained in FGD gypsum does not affect plants and runoff into water supplies at "significant" levels.

L’institut Reut a demandé au gouvernement israélien de consacrer des ressources substantielles pour « attaquer » voire "saboter" ce mouvement de manière criminelle dans ce que Reut appelle, les "pôles" internationaux de Londres, Madrid, Toronto, la baie de San Francisco et au-delà.
D’après les analyses de l’institut Reut, la doctrine stratégique israélienne traditionnelle - considérant que les menaces pour l’existence de l’État doivent être traitées par des moyens principalement militaires et ainsi combattues - est terriblement dépassée. Israël est plutôt confronté aujourd’hui à la double menace d’un "réseau de résistance" et "d’un réseau de délégitimisation."

En outre, le "réseau de résistance", vise prétendument à provoquer l’"implosion" politique d’Israël — à la façon de l’Afrique du Sud, de l’Allemagne de l’Est ou de l’Union soviétique — plutôt que d’obtenir une défaite militaire par un affrontement direct sur le champ de bataille.
Au niveau de base, l’analyse de Reut représente un progrès par rapport aux couches plus primitives et jusqu’ici dominantes de la pensée stratégique israélienne ; elle montre que l’on comprend, comme je l’ai dit dans mon discours à Hampshire, que "le sionisme ne peut pas simplement bombarder, enlever, assassiner, expulser, démolir, coloniser, mentir et arriver à se faire légitimer et accepter."
Mais ce qui sous-tend l’analyse de l’institut Reut est son incapacité totale à démêler les causes et les effets. Elle semble supposer que l’érosion spectaculaire de la réputation internationale d’Israël depuis ses guerres contre le Liban en 2006 et contre Gaza en 2009 est le résultat des prouesses du" réseau de délégitimisation" auquel il impute des objectifs totalement infâmes , sournois et malsains — à savoir, la "destruction d’Israël."
Elle blâme les "délégitimateurs" et les "résistants" de l’échec de la solution à deux Etats sans tenir compte de l’impitoyable et inexorable colonisation israélienne— appuyée par pratiquement tous les organes de l’État — délibérée et destinée à rendre impossible le retrait israélien de Cisjordanie.
L’analyse n’a jamais considéré, un seul instant, que l’escalade des critiques visant les actions israéliennes pourrait être justifiée, ou que ceux qui viennent gonfler les rangs des gens qui sont prêts à consacrer leur temps et leurs efforts pour s’opposer aux actions d’Israël puissent être motivés par une indignation sincère et le désir de voir se concrétiser la justice, l’égalité et la fin des effusions de sang. En d’autres mots, Israël est en train de se délégitimer lui-même.
Reut n’a pas recommandé au cabinet israélien — qui a récemment tenu une session extraordinaire afin d’entendre un exposé des conclusions du groupe de réflexion — qu’Israël change effectivement son comportement envers les Palestiniens et les Libanais.
Au lieu de cela, Reut recommande au gouvernement israélien une contre-offensive agressive et éventuellement criminelle. Dans sa présentation powerpoint faite à la récente Conférence d’Herzliya sur la sécurité nationale israélienne, Grinstein invite effectivement les "services de renseignement " israéliens à se concentrer sur les « pôles » nommés ou non du" réseau de délégitimisation " et d’ "attaquer les catalyseurs" de ce réseau. Dans son document "The Delegitimization Challenge : Creating a Political Firewall " Reut recommande qu’ "Israël sabote les catalyseurs du réseau ».
L’utilisation du mot "sabotage" est particulièrement frappante et devrait attirer l’attention des gouvernements, des services juridiques et des directeurs d’université préoccupés par la sécurité et la protection de leurs étudiants et de leurs citoyens. La seule définition de "sabotage" dans le droit des USA le qualifie d’acte de guerre au même titre que la trahison lorsque qu’il est mené contre les USA. En outre, dans l’usage courant, l’American Heritage Dictionary définit le sabotage comme "un acte déloyal visant à faire échouer ou à entraver une cause ou un projet ; subversion délibérée." Il est difficile d’imaginer une utilisation légitime de ce terme dans un contexte politique ou dans des campagnes de sensibilisation.
À tout le moins, Reut semble demander aux services d’espionnage israéliens de mener des actions clandestines pour s’ingérer dans l’exercice de la liberté d’expression, d’association et de soutien, aux USA, au Canada et dans les pays de l’Union européenne, et éventuellement pour nuire à des personnes et des organisations. Ces mises en garde concernant les intentions éventuelles d’Israël — surtout à la lumière de sa longue histoire d’activités criminelles sur sol étranger — ne devraient pas être prises à la légère.
L’Institute Reut, basé à Tel-Aviv, lève un montant important de fonds exonérés d’impôts aux USA par le biais de sa branche sans but lucratif appelée "Les Amis étasuniens de l’Institut Reut" (AFRI). Selon ses documents publics, l’AFRI a envoyé près de 2 millions de dollars à l’Institut Reut en 2006 et 2007.
Outre une campagne internationale de sabotage sous les auspices de l’État, Reut a également recommandé une politique "douce". Celle-ci fait appel spécifiquement à la hasbara, ou propagande d’Etat, pour donner une image verte d’Israël, refuge high-tech des technologies environnementales et des produits culturels de haut niveau — ce qu’il appelle la "marque Israël."
D’autres éléments comprennent "le maintien de milliers de relations personnelles avec des élites et des personnes influentes du monde politique, culturel, dans celui des médias et de la sécurité à travers le monde et la « mise à contribution » encore plus étroite à sa cause « des communautés juives et israéliennes de la diaspora ». Il a même souligné qu’Israël devrait utiliser "l’aide internationale" pour renforcer son image (son incursion de pure forme dans le tremblement de terre d’Haïti illustre cette tactique).
Le point commun de ces stratégies est qu’elles visent à décourager, retarder et détourner l’attention de la question fondamentale : tout en se prétendant un État libéral et démocratique, Israël est une ethnocratie ultranationaliste qui s’appuie sur la répression violente des droits les plus fondamentaux de millions de Palestiniens

C’est Irwin Cotler, ancien ministre de la justice, reconnu pour défendre inconditionnellement la violation des droits humains des Palestiniens par l’armée israélienne et opposant farouche au rapport Goldstone (qui décrit dans les détails les crimes de guerre de l’armée d’Israël dans son offensive illégale contre Gaza) bref, c’est notre ancien ministre de la justice qui pilote le projet de loi. La logique de ces défenseurs du droit international est simple : critiques de la politique israélienne = antisémitisme, donc incitation à la haine raciale. Les effets de cette loi ? Selon Joanne Naiman, auteure du document, tous les organismes militant pour la paix et la justice au Proche-Orient seront muselés par crainte d’ennuis judiciaires. Et le projet de loi, selon elle, créera de l’antisémitisme en amalgamant Judaïsme et Sionisme.
Il me semble que votre parti devrait s'opposer vigoureusement à ce projet de loi anti-démocratique. Le droit d'expression est le fondement d'une société démocratique. Et le respect du droit international doit être la mesure du bien fondé d'une politique étrangère. Et non pas la propagande d'un groupe de pression émanant d'un pays étranger.
En passant, on peut se demander si les milliers d’opposants à l’occupation israélienne, Juifs et Israéliens, seront aussi accusés d’anti-sémitisme. It's being called the largest research fraud in medical history. Dr. Scott Reuben, a former member of Pfizer's speakers' bureau, has agreed to plead guilty to faking dozens of research studies that were published in medical journals.
Now being reported across the mainstream media is the fact that Dr. Reuben accepted a $75,000 grant from Pfizer to study Celebrex in 2005. His research, which was published in a medical journal, has since been quoted by hundreds of other doctors and researchers as "proof" that Celebrex helped reduce pain during post-surgical recovery. There's only one problem with all this: No patients were ever enrolled in the study!
Dr. Scott Reuben, it turns out, faked the entire study and got it published anyway.

There is no evidence to support the contention that the influenza vaccine administered to the over 65s is of any more use than opening the windows and washing hands, a new study from the Cochrane Collaboration claims, according to a report in the Svenska Dagbladet newspaper.
The Cochrane Collaboration, an international not-for-profit organization providing up-to-date information about the effects of health care, has compiled data from 40 flu seasons worldwide.
The institute has concluded from the studies that there is no clear evidence to suggest that the flu jab offers any more protection than cheaper, hygiene-based methods such as hand-washing.
"Our analysis is compiled using millions of data from 40 seasons worldwide. What we have seen is that the influenza vaccine can at best have a very small effect," said Thomas Jefferson, one of the authors of the report, to the newspaper.
