Two governments: The public and the deep

If you don't know the work of
Peter Dale Scott you should.
He's one of the most thorough scholars
on what he calls the "deep" government.
It's the space where government, law
enforcement, drug dealers and corporate
criminals collaborate outside the eyes
of the sleeping news media.
The interview conducted by University of
Berkeley starts with some softball questions,
but hang in there. Very worthwhile.

"Continuity of Government Planning has ... Already Superseded the Constitution as a Higher Authority"

"If members of the Homeland Security Committee cannot enforce their right to read secret plans of the Executive Branch, then the systems of checks and balances established by the U.S. Constitution would seem to be failing.

To put it another way, if the White House is successful in frustrating DeFazio, then Continuity of Government planning has arguably already superseded the Constitution as a higher authority."

A historic apology to our First Nations

Harper apologizes for residential school abuse

About 150,000 native children went through the programs, which were an extension of religious missionary work designed to assimilate them into Christian society. An estimated 80,000 are still alive.

The apology comes as part of a $4 billion compensation and healing package for residential school abuse survivors.

Quebec man acquitted in police officer slaying

Basil Parasiris was acquitted on Friday by a 12-person jury at the Longueuil courthouse, on Montreal's South Shore.

He was charged with first-degree murder in the death of Const. Daniel Tessier, who died after being shot three times last spring after he entered Parasiris's Brossard home with a battering ram during a botched drug raid.

The verdict means the jury believed Parasiris's self-defence argument was enough to raise a reasonable doubt about the charges.

I agree with this. If the police kick down the wrong door, the occupants should have the right to repel using lethal force. From their point of view it is a home invasion by armed men.

Plastic shower curtains may pose health hazard

OTTAWA - A new study says some plastic shower curtains may be hazardous to your health.

The U.S.-based Centre for Health, Environment and Justice says polyvinyl chloride (PVC) shower curtains may release 108 toxic chemicals into the air.

The study found the ubiquitous PVC curtains contain harmful chemicals that can cause a litany of adverse health effects to the lungs, central nervous system, liver and kidneys.

The study examined shower curtains purchased in the U.S. from Bed Bath and Beyond, Kmart, Sears, Target and Wal-Mart stores - but most major Canadian retailers carry some variety of vinyl shower curtain.

Accidental astrophysicists

Dmitry Khavinson and Genevra Neumann didn't know anything about astrophysics. They were just doing mathematics, like they always do, following their curiosity. In 2004, they posted a new result, an extension of the fundamental theorem of algebra, on MathSciNet, a preprint server.

Five days later, they received an e-mail. Congratulations, it said. You just proved Sun Hong Rhie's conjecture on gravitational lensing.

Record Percentage Of Americans Use Internet For Politics, Survey Finds

The spring 2008 survey finds that a record-breaking 46 percent of all Americans have used the internet, e-mail or cell-phone text messaging to participate in the political process.

A record percentage of Americans have used the internet to participate in the most closely-watched presidential election in decades, finds a newly-released survey from the non-partisan Pew Internet & American Life Project.

Anti-war protesters banned from demonstrating against Bush

London police have announced a ban on anti-war campaigners hoping to protest against President George Bush's visit to Downing Street this Sunday. The Whitehall ban has been immediately condemned as a "totalitarian act" by the playwright Harold Pinter, while Stop the War organisers are urging people to defy it and to demonstrate nearby in Parliament Square.

This, from the country that gave the world the Magna Carta?!?

Unflipping believable.

But to those in the U.K. who might still be thinking about protesting at Parliament Square, please remember this; individuals in the group advocating any kind of violence against people or property are most likely some kind of intelligent agents, hoping to "kookify" the entire peace movement.

Get Osama Bin Laden before I leave office, orders George W Bush

The Special Boat Service (SBS) and the Special Reconnaissance Regiment have been taking part in the US-led operations to capture Bin Laden in the wild frontier region of northern Pakistan. It is the first time they have operated across the Afghan border on a regular basis.

Obviously, Bush has legacy on the brain syndrome, to be pulling this kind of stunt.

And I honestly don't know whether to laugh or cry, reading this.

Ben Laden "assumed room temperature" some years ago, and both the US and British intelligence agencies know this full well.

So what do you think they're going to do, find someone who looks like Bin Laden to arrest, throw in jail, and ultimately assassinate just so that some people might actually think they really caught the guy?

If Washington and London politicians really think this song and dance will be believed by the thinking public, they are absolutely, completely wrong!

I freed millions from barbarism, says President with no regrets

Asked what he thinks his legacy might be, he says he is happy to await the verdict of history. But he cannot resist also offering his own, suggesting 'the liberation of 50 million people from the clutches of barbaric regimes is noteworthy, at a minimum'.

To make a statement like this, one has to wonder if Bush is off his medication, taking way too much, or has just decided that somehow continuing to lie to the American people and the world just might serve to make the lie true.;

His "legacy" will be the deaths of over one million Iraqis, and thousands of Afghanis.

Many others in both countries have had to flee for fear of their lives due to sectarian strife.

Practically everything in both Iraq and Afghanistan is broken, the water and sewage systems, the hospitals, and the schools.

Women have had to revert to wearing the full burka, because if they don't they will be assassinated by religious zealots.

The no-bid alleged "reconstruction projects" have been an absolutely horrendous joke in terms shoddy workmanship that crumbles if you sneeze too hard at a wall.

And of course, the real "gift that has kept on giving", both in Iraq and Afghanistan, has been the use of depleted uranium weapons.

This has caused death and huge numbers of birth defects not only in the people of these countries, but also with our troops and their children.

No matter how he may try to spin it, Bush's "legacy" will be that of a complete absence of moral accountability for the death and destruction his policies have wrought.

U.S. To Threaten Iraq With Aid Cuts Unless It Recognizes Israel

Militia Leader al-Sadr Calls For New Offensive Against US Forces

The Bush administration's Iraq policy suffered two major setbacks Friday when Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki publicly rejected key U.S. terms for an ongoing military presence and anti-American Shiite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr called for a new militia offensive against U.S.

You have to wonder if this administration thought that Iraqis were just going to roll over and play dead on this massive national insult (much as the 110th congress has during its tenure in Washington).

So now, what?

After the invasion and occupation, it appears that US policy on Iraq is about to explode in our policy-mongers' faces like a really bad trick cigar.

Supreme Court backs rights for Guantanamo detainees

The Supreme Court ruled Thursday that foreign terrorism suspects held at Guantanamo Bay have rights under the Constitution to challenge their detention in U.S. civilian courts.

Justice Anthony Kennedy, writing for the court, said, "The laws and Constitution are designed to survive, and remain in force, in extraordinary times."

MEDIA CAUGHT! Irrefutable Evidence of US Media Deception, Bias & Coverup

Democratic Congressman Dennis Kucinich introduced 35 articles of impeachment against George W. Bush for high crimes ranging from creating a false propaganda campaign to lead the country into an illegal war to felony treason in leaking classified information of CIA operative Valerie Plame to obstructing justice of the investigation of the attacks of September 11th.

One might think that this would be on the front page of every newspaper and website as well as the lead story on all the major networks. THE STORY IS NOT BEING COVERED even though tonight the articles for impeachment received a co-sponsor. Rep. Robert Wexler of Florida has cosigned the article with Dennis Kucinich.

"Suspicious" web crash after Kucinich moves to impeach Bush

Hours after Rep. Dennis Kucinich, D-Ohio, introduced articles of impeachment against President Bush, his campaign says his website "was shut down by a series of suspicious and fast moving events."

May combat deaths in Afghanistan outpace Iraq

It's a grim gauge of U.S. wars going in opposite directions: American and allied combat deaths in Afghanistan in May passed the monthly toll in Iraq for the first time.

Outgoing US commander blames Pakistan for spike in Afghan attacks

Attacks increased by 50 percent in April in Afghanistan's eastern region, as a spreading Taliban insurgency in Pakistan fuelled a surge in violence, the outgoing US commander of NATO's International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan has claimed.

At a Pentagon news conference, Gen Dan K McNeill, who left Afghanistan on June 3 after 16 months of command in the country, said that stabilising Afghanistan would be impossible without a more robust military campaign against insurgents in Pakistan.

"Hey, I've got a terrific idea for deflecting blame from the failed, "never enough boots on the ground" US and NATO-led military campaign in Afghanistan: LET'S BLAME PAKISTAN!!" - official white horse souse.

Pakistan condemns "cowardly" U.S. attack; 11 dead

Pakistan said on Wednesday an "unprovoked and cowardly" air strike by U.S. forces had killed 11 Pakistani soldiers on its border with Afghanistan and undermined the basis of security cooperation.

The U.S. military said in a statement issued on Wednesday that it had coordinated the artillery and air strike with Pakistan, but was investigating further.

If the US was actually "coordinating" the artillery and airstrike with Pakistan, how did they wind up with 11 dead Pakistani soldiers?!?

All of a sudden, in online articles, we are seeing a real demonization of the current Pakistani regime.

One has to wonder if these articles have been placed to "soften up" the American people toward some kind of military strike on Pakistan.

And remember; just to Pakistan's western border lies....Iran.

Pakistan fury over U.S. 'hot pursuit' attack

Pakistan has expressed outrage at a U.S. airstrike in a disputed region along the Afghan border which it says killed 11 of its forces who were cooperating with the U.S.-led war on terror.

Provocation by the US?

US missile strike kills one in S Waziristan

The incident in Makeen comes just days after an airstrike by US-led coalition forces that had killed 11 Pakistani troops. US officials have said the coalition was legitimately targeting militants but has offered to conduct a joint investigation with Pakistan

Apparently for the US, there is no such thing as "sovereignty" when it comes to Pakistani airspace.

Of course, what these attacks will do is to weaken an already shaky truce between the Pakistani government and its own militants in this region.

Perhaps this precisely the US's intent here.

Whatever Happened to "Democracy Now?"

This is the second time in a week where Goodman's editorial judgment has left me deeply disappointed. First was the refusal to cover -- yet again -- the AIPAC conference, with all its implications for US politics and the Middle East. In a year when even the mainstream media was finally forced to take notice (with Jon Stewart of the Daily Show going so far as to refer to the lobby group as the 'Elders of Zion', Democracy Now appeared alone in missing the irony of three presidential candidates pledging to fight the domination of lobbyists in Washington genuflect to the most powerful of them all.

Amy, what happened to Democracy Now's promise to speak truth to power? Did you not say once that your aim was to go where the silence is? How is it that the Washington Post was able to break the silence even as Democracy Now remained AWOL? Why did Democracy Now join MSM in denying Mearsheimer and Walt a voice, instead allowing their views to be misrepresented by critics without a chance of rebuttal? How well placed are you to criticize the mainstream for refusing to stand up to power when you can yourself be considered guilty of the same?

Bush attacks Iran over rejection of nuclear offer

Before Mr Bush spoke, an Iranian Government spokesman, Gholamhossein Elham, made it clear in Tehran that stopping enrichment was unacceptable.

"If the package includes suspension, it is not debatable at all," Mr Elham said.

Translation: what the US and the EU have done here is present a proposal they absolutely knew from the get-go was going to be an non-starter, because of the provision requiring Iran to suspend enrichment.

So, now the stage is absolute set for "Oh well, we tried diplomacy but that didn't work, so.... it's off with the bombs and rockets!".

Of course, such a move would be colossally insane; and the consequences of such a move would crush some very tender parts of the US's and the world's economy in a vise called "oil supply disruption".

Unfortunately, just because it is insane does not mean that Bush & Co will not do it.

Smugglers Had Design For Advanced Warhead

The drawings, discovered in 2006 on computers owned by Swiss businessmen, included essential details for building a compact nuclear device that could be fitted on a type of ballistic missile used by Iran and more than a dozen developing countries, the report states.

I smell a rat here. Note how Iran gets more mention than anyone else in this story.

The NIE released earlier this year reported the unanimous conclusions of all 16 US Intelligence Agencies that Iran has not been working on nuclear weapons since at least 2003, and nobody is really sure whether they were doing so prior to that. This makes a false-flag nuclear attack on the US to kick off a new war a problem unless a plausible case can be made for Iran skipping all the R&D and going straight from uranium centrifuge to working weapon. This story appears to be an effort to create such a case.

U.N. ex-inspector: Iran has nuke blueprint

Iran has blueprints and technology to make nuclear warheads that could fit could fit onto Shehab-3 missiles, a former U.N. weapons inspector claims.

The rat I was smelling yesterday just farted!

Yesterday we saw that first story about the smuggling ring having blueprints and plans for nuclear weapons, and I pointed out that Iran got the most play in the list of nations that "might" have received this information.

So, here is what seems to be coming down.

1. All 16 US Intelligence agencies (and most foreign nations except Israel) have confirmed that Iran is not developing nuclear weapons and has not been doing so going back at least to 2003.

2. This makes it very difficult to set off a false-flag nuclear explosion in the US to kick off war with Iran because Iran is not doing the extensive R&D needed to explain how they got a bomb.

3. Therefore, as part of a run-up to a false-flag, "someone" has to make the case that Iran has somehow found a way to skip the R&D needed to make a bomb and is able to build a bomb overnight to use on the US.

Former inspector: Advanced nuke plans might have gone to Iran

Right on the cover of TIME magazine. That makes it official. The game plan is to come up with a reason to attack Iran even though there is no proof whatsoever that Iran is developing nuclear weapons.

The story now appears to be that Ahmadinajad got into a fight and had a tooth knocked out, put it under his pillow last night, and the @#%ing tooth fairy put some nuclear warhead plans under there for him to find in the morning!

They better really crank up the meprobamate in the water supply if they expect Americans to sit still for this one!

Nuclear ring reportedly had advanced design

American and international investigators say that they have found the electronic blueprints for an advanced nuclear weapon on computers that belonged to the nuclear smuggling network run by Abdul Qadeer Khan, the rogue Pakistani nuclear scientist, but that they have not been able to determine whether they were sold to Iran or the smuggling ring's other customers.

Notice the clustering and timing of these stories, even though the "journalists" writing them have absolutely zero proof that Iran ever got any of these plans.

This is no accident, and the timing is very interesting, with Bush just finishing his little European junket on US taxpayers' dollars.

Jeepers! Has Everybody Forgotten This Story?

Hello!?!? Has everybody forgotten that Bush has already given the secrets of building an atomic bomb not only to Iran, but to every evil empire in the world? I remember when this story first broke. It's lifespan in the news cycle lasted from Friday afternoon to a Saturday morning. Supposedly the story was dropped because it was "unfair" and "too partisan" to run it because of the upcoming election.

A little over a year ago Bush put up a website that contained information that was captured in Iraq. Amongst this treasure trove the administration accidently overlooked part of the information that contained all of the secrets needed to build an atomic bomb. The website was called "Operation Iraqi Freedom Document Portal", which is of course no longer online. The damage is already done, however. Every intelligence agency in the world is constantly watching the White House website like a hawk. There can be no doubt that the nuclear secrets are now practically in the public domain.

FLASHBACK: Iran, Nukes, and the 'Laptop of Death'

It all goes back to what is called "the laptop of death" - a portable computer obtained in mid-2004 from a "walk-in" source, who had supposedly received it from another unidentified person in Iran, which contained "voluminous" plans for the construction of a missile containing a nuclear warhead. U.S. officials used this "find" to convince the Europeans that the Iranian nuclear threat is real and menacing: it was a key part of the rationale for the alarming 2005 NIE. Yet the story of where this treasure trove of intelligence allegedly came from kept getting murkier and more dubious. According to Dafna Linzer, reporting in the Washington Post, it was "allegedly stolen from an Iranian whom German intelligence tried, unsuccessfully, to recruit as an informant. It was whisked out of the country by another Iranian who offered it up to foreign intelligence officials in Turkey as evidence of a nuclear weapons program."

If this sounds like the Niger uranium papers, the crude forgeries that somehow got past the president's Praetorian Guard and formed the basis for the infamous "sixteen words," then the question asked by Podhoretz and his pals - how did we get it so wrong? - takes on a meaning they never intended. Because, if we look at the timeline of this evolving narrative, the discrepancy between the discovery of the "laptop of death" in mid-2004 and the termination of the Iranian nukes program in 2003 raises a simple question: Was "the laptop of death" a deliberate effort to deceive?

The laptop was ultimately exposed as a Mossad plant.

Iran Nuke Laptop Data May Have Come From Mossad

The George W. Bush administration has long pushed the "laptop documents" -- 1,000 pages of technical documents supposedly from a stolen Iranian laptop -- as hard evidence of Iranian intentions to build a nuclear weapon. Now charges based on those documents pose the only remaining obstacles to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) declaring that Iran has resolved all unanswered questions about its nuclear programme.

But those documents have long been regarded with great suspicion by U.S. and foreign analysts. German officials have identified the source of the laptop documents in November 2004 as the Mujahideen e Khalq (MEK), which along with its political arm, the National Council of Resistance in Iran (NCRI), is listed by the U.S. State Department as a terrorist organisation.

There are some indications, moreover, that the MEK obtained the documents not from an Iranian source but from Israel's Mossad.

FLASHBACK: Relying on Computer, U.S. Seeks to Prove Iran's Nuclear Aims

Nonetheless, doubts about the intelligence persist among some foreign analysts. In part, that is because American officials, citing the need to protect their source, have largely refused to provide details of the origins of the laptop computer beyond saying that they obtained it in mid-2004 from a longtime contact in Iran.

The laptop was ultimately exposed as a Mossad plant.

The Israeli Wehrmacht

Sorry; it seems I got that wrong. It should have read:

IDF fires into crowd of 3000 Hamas protestors at Gaza border – World couldn’t care less”.

The protesters were not trying to “storm Israel” and posed no risk whatsoever to the safety of Israeli soldiers.

They were merely protesting the diabolic blockade imposed on them for the past 12 months by a state that claims to be a light upon the nations.

Israeli Army Uses Live Rounds on Peaceful Protest.

U.S. Consulate employee dies of heart attack at Israeli checkpoint

Mohammed Mousa, 63, who has worked for forty years at the US Consulate in Jerusalem and is an American citizen, died of a heart attack when Israeli soldiers refused to allow him to pass through the checkpoint to work this week.

The incident took place on Tuesday, and the IMEMC has confirmed that the heart attack was directly correlated to the stress of being held at the checkpoint.

Israeli soldiers stationed at checkpoints in the Jerusalem area regularly deny entry to Palestinians holding foreign citizenship and holding all necessary permits to pass. In addition, there have been multiple incidents of soldiers humiliating and harassing elderly Palestinians, on a nearly daily basis at many checkpoints.

With "friends" of the US like these............................

This guy had worked at the US Consulate in Jerusalem for 40 years.

He wasn't some stranger these IDF people had never seen before.

Hundreds of New Testaments torched in Israel

(CNN) -- Police in Israel are investigating the burning of hundreds of New Testaments in a city near Tel Aviv, an incident that has alarmed advocates of religious freedom.

Investigators plan to review photographs and footage showing "a fairly large" number of New Testaments being torched this month in the city of Or-Yehuda, a police spokesman, Micky Rosenfeld, said Wednesday.

The Nazis burned books.

Book Burnings in the Holy Land are Considered 'Kosher' Provided the Books are Christian

A group of religious fanatics in a Middle Eastern country burning several hundred copies of the New Testament under government orders immediately following George Bush's birthday bash in Israel should have been headline news for days in America. According to the standards immediately set following the attacks on 9/11, there should have been minute-by-minute updates along with a steady stream of commentary from all the Neocon regulars hell-bent on shystering American parents into sending their beloved children off to fight and die in defense of the Jewish state. There should have been the obligatory 'we told you so' business by the Jewish press in America and how 'right on the money' George Bush was in bombing the hell out of Iraq and-more importantly-how 'right on the money' bombing the hell out of Iran, Syria and elsewhere will be. All the typical buzzwords-'intolerance', 'bigotry', 'jihad' and of course, lest we forget-'Islamo-Fascism'-should have been brought to bear in describing this recent event that had as its precedent the infamous book burnings by the eeeeeeeeeeeeevil. hated Nazis of the Third Reich.

And indeed all this would have been the case were it not for a few minor facts complicating the matter, not the least of which is that it took place in the one country said to be America's 'only ally' in the Middle East-Israel-and was not perpetrated by turban-wearing/sword-wielding/Koran-quoting/Islamo-Fascists but rather by those said to be Christianity's greatest friends in the world, meaning Jews.

West Bank attack filmed

The BBC has obtained footage of Palestinians being attacked close to a Jewish settlement in the West Bank by a group of masked men wielding baseball bats.

The footage was shot on a camera that was provided by an Israeli human rights group to enable Palestinians to get proof of attacks.

Covered heads and baseball bats. Israel's version of the KKK?

UN: Israel has denied 94% of requests for West Bank building permits

Tuesday's report by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) also said that more than 3,000 Israeli demolition orders are pending against Palestinian-owned structures in the West Bank.

The report says 10 small communities are at risk of being almost entirely displaced by demolitions.

IOA decides to demolish 3,000 Palestinian homes in the W. Bank

The UN Human Affairs Coordination Office has affirmed that thousands of Palestinian individuals would be exposed to possible forcible ejection from their homes after the IOA decided to demolish 3,000 homes in the West Bank.

"As of now, there are 3,000 Israeli demolition orders against Palestinian homes in the West Bank that could be carried out immediately and without prior notice," the UN office said in a report it issued on Tuesday over the matter.

PCHR: Eighteen years of work destroyed in less than four hours

"They came at four in the morning, with two bulldozers, and they left before 8am. I own this chicken farm with my three brothers, and we worked day and night for eighteen years to build up our business. The Israelis destroyed everything in less then four hours."

Israel is pushing the U.S. to attack Iran

Echoing their claim that pro-Israel forces in Washington had pressured the United States into attacking Iraq, the pair argued that the same forces are now pushing the country into attacking Iran.

"There is only one country in the world that is putting any pressure on the U.S. to attack Iran, and that is Israel," Mearsheimer told a packed lecture hall at Hebrew University, according to the Jerusalem Post. "And it is putting enormous pressure on the US."

Mearsheimer added, "Inside the United States, it is pro-Israel individuals and groups who are almost wholly responsible for pressure being brought to bear on Bush and Cheney to use military force on Iran. The idea that the lobby and Israel don't put huge amounts of pressure on the U.S. is contradictory to the evidence."

Canadian university had banned the term "Israeli Apartheid" as "hate speech"

One of the most shocking indications of this repressive atmosphere is a campaign by Zionist organizations to convince university administrations to ban the phrase "Israeli Apartheid". At McMaster University in Hamilton, for example, students organizing IAW events on their campuses were issued with a letter from the Provost office informing them that the university had banned the term "Israeli Apartheid" from use by student clubs. This effectively ended their participation in the week as they were then barred from attaining the necessary approval to advertise, book rooms, etc. A massive mobilization by students and community allies forced the university to backtrack from this position. Nevertheless, letters and articles by Zionist organizations and supporters continue to appear in local Hamilton newspapers calling for further repression.

Carter may have used the term "Israeli Apartheid", but I believe that it may have been Bishop Desmond Tutu to characterize it this way.

Bishop Tutu, was one of the great champions of freedom for all South Africans, right along with Nelson Mandela.

And if Bishop Tutu describes what he sees happening with the Palestinian people as "Israeli Apartheid", trust me; this guy is in a really solid position to know.

Criticism of Israel is anti-Semitic, Harper says

Some of the criticism brewing in Canada against the state of Israel, including from some members of Parliament, is similar to the attitude of Nazi Germany in the Second World War, Prime Minister Stephen Harper warned yesterday.

Translation: "Yeah, well, okay, maybe Israel IS an apartheid state, but you can't SAY that!"

IDF choppers in service of drug cartel

American officials demand Israel provide explanations for how U.S.-made choppers sold to Israel ended up in service of Columbian drug cartel. Incident may cloud relations between countries

The dubious affair, which was already investigated by the Israeli Defense Ministry, and later turned over to the hands of the police, was uncovered about two years ago.

Compared to Stonehenge, Britain's most famous prehistoric site, they are humble affairs. None of the circles excavated (four out of an estimated 20) are more than 30 meters across. What makes the discovery remarkable are the carvings of boars, foxes, lions, birds, snakes and scorpions, and their age. Dated at around 9,500 BC, these stones are 5,500 years older than the first cities of Mesopotamia, and 7,000 years older than Stonehenge.

Brain downloads 'will make lessons pointless'

Children will learn by downloading information directly into their brains within 30 years, the head of Britain's top private schools organisation has predicted.

Chris Parry, the new chief executive of the Independent Schools Council, said "Matrix-style" technology would render traditional lessons obsolete.

Memo to Chris Parry: just who will determine precisely what gets downloaded into British kids' brains, if and when this kind of technology evolves?

$45 Trillion Needed to Combat Warming

I keep telling you, all this global warming climate change nonsense is a scam to trick you into making do with less, so the elites can have more. $45 trillion is a $6000 global tax paid by every single living human being on Earth. And Al Gore and his brokerage get to play with a huge chunk of it.

Is this Al Gore's reward for letting Bush steal the 2000 election?

Russia is biggest oil producer

The IEA declared on Tuesday that Russia has been the biggest crude oil producer in the first quarter of 2008, extracting 9.5 million barrels per day, ahead of Saudi Arabia at 9.2 million barrels, AFP reported.

Sun, Not Man, Is Causing Climate Change

The Army is weighing in on the global warming debate, claiming that climate change is not entirely man-made. Instead, Dr. Bruce West, with the Army Research Office, argues that "changes in the earth’s average surface temperature are directly linked to ... the short-term statistical fluctuations in the Sun’s irradiance and the longer-term solar cycles."

In an advisory to bloggers entitled "Global Warming: Fact of Fiction [sic]," an Army public affairs official promoted a conference call with West about "the causes of global warming, and how it may not be caused by the common indicates [sic] some scientists and the media are indicating."

In the March, 2008 issue of Physics Today, West, the chief scientist of the Army Research Office's mathematical and information science directorate, wrote that "the Sun’s turbulent dynamics" are linked with the Earth's complex ecosystem. These connections are what is heating up the planet. "The Sun could account for as much as 69 percent of the increase in Earth’s average temperature," West noted.

Midwest floods hit US output of ethanol

Large numbers of small to mid-sized ethanol producers could shut down over the coming months after flooding across the US Midwest caused irreparable damage to the year's corn crop and pushed corn prices up sharply, says a report by Citigroup.

Oil shortage a myth, says industry insider

There is more than twice as much oil in the ground as major producers say, according to a former industry adviser who claims there is widespread misunderstanding of the way proven reserves are calculated.

Although it is widely assumed that the world has reached a point where oil production has peaked and proven reserves have sunk to roughly half of original amounts, this idea is based on flawed thinking, said Richard Pike, a former oil industry man who is now chief executive of the Royal Society of Chemistry.

Current estimates suggest there are 1,200 billion barrels of proven global reserves, but the industry's internal figures suggest this amounts to less than half of what actually exists.

The misconception has helped boost oil prices to an all-time high, sending jitters through the market and prompting calls for oil-producing nations to increase supply to push down costs.

Flying into Japan for a summit two days after prices reached a record $139 a barrel, energy ministers from the G8 countries yesterday discussed an action plan to ease the crisis.

Explaining why the published estimates of proven global reserves are less than half the true amount, Dr Pike said there was anecdotal evidence that big oil producers were glad to go along with under-reporting of proven reserves to help maintain oil's high price. "Part of the oil industry is perfectly familiar with the way oil reserves are underestimated, but the decision makers in both the companies and the countries are not exposed to the reasons why proven oil reserves are bigger than they are said to be," he said.

The rising price is caused by the falling dollar.

'Scab' driver burned in his lorry as European protests against high fuel prices turn violent

Violence has flared across Europe as hauliers, fishermen and taxi drivers protest against rising fuel prices they say are crippling their industries.

Some of the worst outbreaks were seen in Spain where prime minister José Luis Rodriguez pledged 'zero tolerance' of any disruption by 90,000 striking lorry drivers.

His warning came after a driver breaking the strike was burned when his lorry was set on fire.

Who's to blame for SKY-HIGH Food & Fuel Prices??? -- HINT: It ain't the Saudis or Iran!!!

"Supply and demand" is irrelevant in this circus. The game is not about supply levels; it's about betting on what the price will be in the future. It does not matter how much food or oil exists. All that matters is the price. If the price is too high, then ordinary people can't eat, can't drive their cars, and can't heat their homes in winter.

Oil jumps over $6 as dollar weakens

Oil soared by more than $6 a barrel to over $134 on Friday, bringing gains in the last two days to $12 as the dollar weakened further on a jump in the jobless rate in the United States.

"... as the dollar weakened further on a jump in the jobless rate in the United States."

The problem is NOT the price being set by the oil exporting nations. The problem is that the dollar is plummeting in value. And blame for THAT goes right to the US Government.

Conservative Gas Pump Ads Stir Controversy

The Conservative party in Canada has FINALLY done something surprisingly sensible, attacking outright the "carbon tax" bullshit right at the pumps!

Food crisis: Britain just nine meals from anarchy

The scenario goes like this. Imagine a sudden shutdown of oil supplies; a sudden collapse in the petrol that streams steadily through the pumps and so into the engines of the lorries which deliver our food around the country, stocking up the supermarket shelves as soon as any item runs out.

If the trucks stopped moving, we'd start to worry and we'd head out to the shops, cking up our larders. By the end of Day One, if there was still no petrol, the shelves would be looking pretty thin. Imagine, then, Day Two: your fourth, fifth and sixth meal. We'd be in a panic. Day three: still no petrol.

Note also, as posed in another article today, that Larry Matlack, President of the American Agricultural Movement, has stated that "...the U.S. has nothing else in our emergency food pantry. There is no cheese, no butter, no dry milk powder, no grains or anything else left in reserve. "

AAM Concerned with CCC Inventories

“According to the May 1, 2008 CCC inventory report there are only 24.1 million bushels of wheat in inventory, so after this sale there will be only 5.73 million bushels of wheat left the entire CCC inventory,” warned Matlack. “Our concern is not that we are using the remainder of our strategic grain reserves for humanitarian relief. AAM fully supports the action and all humanitarian food relief. Our concern is that the U.S. has nothing else in our emergency food pantry. There is no cheese, no butter, no dry milk powder, no grains or anything else left in reserve. The only thing left in the entire CCC inventory will be 5.73 million bushels of wheat which is about enough wheat to make about 1/2 of a loaf of bread for each of the 300 million people in America.”

The CCC is a federal government-owned and operated entity that was created to stabilize, support, and protect farm income and prices. CCC is also supposed to maintain balanced and adequate supplies of agricultural commodities and aids in their orderly distribution.

Central bank body warns of Great Depression

ISP's confirm '2012: The Year The Internet Ends'

Bell Canada and TELUS (formerly owned by Verizon) employees officially confirm that by 2012 ISP's all over the globe will reduce Internet access to a TV-like subscription model, only offering access to a small standard amount of commercial sites and require extra fees for every other site you visit. These 'other' sites would then lose all their exposure and eventually shut down, resulting in what could be seen as the end of the Internet.

Dylan Pattyn *, who is currently writing an article for Time Magazine on the issue, has official confirmation from sources within Bell Canada and is interviewing a marketing representative from TELUS who confirms the story and states that TELUS has already started blocking all websites that aren't in the subscription package for mobile Internet access. They could not confirm whether it would happen in 2012 because both stated it may actually happen sooner (as early as 2010). Interviews with these sources, more confirmation from other sources and more in-depth information on the issue is set to be published in Time Magazine soon.

What can we do?

The reason why we're releasing this information is because we believe we can stop it. More awareness means more mainstream media shedding light on it, more political interest and more pressure on the ISP's to keep the Internet an open free space. We started this social network as a platform for Internet activism where we can join forces, share ideas and organize any form of protest that may have an impact. If we want to make a difference in this, we have to join together and stand united as one powerful voice against it.

Join the movement.

French Government decides to censor the Internet

In fact, worse still is that any site is now game for a French blockade, as Sarkozy's government is inviting people to send in huge long lists of sites which offend their delicate sensibilities. The French government, which will purportedly be able to receive complaints from Internet users in real time, will be able to add sites to a so called "black list", which it will then force national ISPs to block.

Fox News vs "the people"

It's very sad American soldiers who once bravely fought against Fascism overseas are now simply obeying orders from the Fascists here at home.

How Much Was Fox Paid to Shill Bush's War Crime in Iraq?

The many lies told by Fox and Bill O'Reilly are probable cause to suspect Fox of criminal complicity with the Bush regime. It is reasonable to suspect that Fox is called Bush's 'propaganda ministry' because it is Bush's propaganda ministry. Bush may yet stand trial for war crimes and mass murder. But what of his enablers inside his 'propaganda ministry'? It is reasonable to ask how many members of the Fox board, how many executives, how many on-camera shills share Bush's guilt for having perpetrated a murderous lie upon the American people and the world.

Copyright deal could toughen rules governing info on iPods, computers

The federal government is secretly negotiating an agreement to revamp international copyright laws which could make the information on Canadian iPods, laptop computers or other personal electronic devices illegal and greatly increase the difficulty of travelling with such devices.

The inevitable result of this (thanks a whole bunch music pirates) is that all future devices will come with a built-in spybot that sends the contents of the memory and hard drive to the government on demand to make sure you don't have "unapproved" data on your systems. Already we are seeing CD and SD cards with built-in WiFi capability.

Democrats to back down on Iraq war conditions

Democrats in the Congress, who came to power last year on a call to end the combat in Iraq, will soon give President George W. Bush the last war-funding bill of his presidency without any of the conditions they sought for withdrawing U.S. troops, congressional aides said on Monday.

Lawmakers are arranging to send Bush $165 billion in new money for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, enough to last for about a year and well beyond when Bush leaves office on January 20.

Barack O’Bilderberg: Picking the President

In The Great Tradition: Obama Is A Hawk

A Background to Bilderberg

Sunday, June 8, 2008, marked the last day of this year’s annual Bilderberg meeting, which took place in Chantilly, Virginia. The American Friends of Bilderberg, an American Bilderberg front group, which organizes the American participant list for the annual Bilderberg conference, issued a rare press release this year. It stated that, "The Conference will deal mainly with a nuclear free world, cyber terrorism, Africa, Russia, finance, protectionism, US-EU relations, Afghanistan and Pakistan, Islam and Iran. Approximately 140 participants will attend."

Bilderberg, which has been meeting annually since 1954, is a highly secretive international think tank and some say, policy-forming group made up of representatives from North America and Western Europe and was founded by Joseph Retinger, Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands and Belgian Prime Minister Paul Van Zeeland. The Bilderberg Steering Committee, made up of around 30 people, (with no official list available), "decided that it would invite 100 of the most powerful people in Europe and North America every year to meet behind closed doors at a different five-star resort. The group stresses secrecy: What's said at a Bilderberg conference stays at a Bilderberg conference."

According to The Globe and Mail, such Canadian Prime Ministers have, in the past, (often before becoming Prime Minister), attended a Bilderberg Conference as a guest, including Pierre Trudeau, Jean Chretien, Paul Martin and Stephen Harper.3 Tony Blair attended Bilderberg before becoming Prime Minister,4 as did the current British Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, who also recently called for the establishment of a "new world order."

Moyers vs. Murdoch: Journalism vs. Megalomania

Rupert Murdoch's favorite megalomaniac Bill O'Reilly sent a crew to Minneapolis this weekend to stalk journalists Bill Moyers and Dan Rather. This probably doesn't surprise you. And that's exactly why Moyers and Rather were in Minneapolis. They were speaking at the National Conference for Media Reform, a gathering of 3,500 people aimed at finding ways to get better journalism to the American people.
