Dogged by protesters, world's rich and powerful meet in UK for secretive Bilderberg conclave

The Associated Press | The Canadian Press – Fri, 7 Jun, 2013

Delegates started arriving for the 2013 Bilderberg conference on Thursday, June 6, in Watford, U.K. While the Bilderberg group releases an attendance list along with a tentative "agenda" of topics to... more
More than 100 of the world's most powerful people are at the former manor house near London for a secretive annual gathering that has attained legendary status in the eyes of anti-capitalist protesters and conspiracy theorists.
The guest list for the Bilderberg meeting includes Google executive chairman Eric Schmidt, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, International Monetary Fund chief Christine Lagarde and former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger. British Prime Minister David Cameron is due to drop by Friday.
The Bilderberg Group was set up in 1954 to support military and economic co-operation between Europe and North America during the Cold War.
Named for the site of its first meeting — the Bilderberg Hotel in Oosterbeek, Holland — the forum for prominent politicians, thinkers and business leaders has been held annually at a series of secluded venues in Europe and North America.
What happens at Bilderberg, stays at Bilderberg. There is no media access and the public is kept away by a large security operation. The group says that "there is no detailed agenda, no resolutions are proposed, no votes are taken, and no policy statements are issued."
But in a move toward slightly more openness, the group now has a website, which lists attendees and key topics for discussion, including the economy, U.S. foreign policy, "cyber warfare and the proliferation of asymmetric threats" and "major trends in medical research."
Invitees include British Treasury chief George Osborne, Goldman Sachs chairman Peter Sutherland and Thomas Enders, CEO of aerospace company EADS.
Publication of these details has done little to ease the concerns of protesters, who sense a shadowy global elite at work in the secretive meeting.
"When 130 of the leaders from all across the West get together, and many of these are billionaires, they are people who are immensely wealthy and immensely powerful," said Michael Meacher, a lawmaker from Britain's Labour Party.

Bilderberg Group? No conspiracy, just the most influential group in the world
June 6, 2013, The Telegraph (One of the UK's leading newspapers)
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politics/10102168/Bilderberg-Group-No-conspiracy-just-the-most...
No [encounters with demonstrators] will take place in Watford this week, as the Bilderberg, the annual conference for 140 of the world’s most powerful, meet for four days at The Grove, a £300-a-night golf hotel. The entire hotel has been booked out, and a high fence erected around the exclusion zone. Armed checkpoints have been set up on local roads, and locals must show their passports to enter their own driveways. The Bilderberg was founded in 1954 ... at the Bilderberg Hotel, near Arnhem. Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands was the chair. In that first meeting, the participants ... debated the Communist threat and the prospect of European integration. Publicly, the group says it is still merely a debating society – a forum for leaders to "listen, reflect and gather insights" unbound by official policy positions. But while they rankle at the conspiracy theorists, former leaders of the Bilderberg conferences says they were the most important events they ever went to, and the freedom of speaking away from the ears of Whitehall officials meant the discussions that took place decisively shaped modern Europe. On the agenda is economic growth, big data, Africa, medical research and the rise of cyber warfare. The future of the welfare state is likely to be discussed, as one topic is titled "jobs, entitlement and debt". Another session is called simply "current affairs".

U.S., British intelligence mining data from nine U.S. Internet companies in broad secret program
June 7, 2013, Washington Post
http://www.washingtonpost.com/investigations/us-intelligence-mining-data-from-nine-us-internet...
The National Security Agency and the FBI are tapping directly into the central servers of nine leading U.S. Internet companies, extracting audio and video chats, photographs, e-mails, documents, and connection logs. The program, code-named PRISM, has not been made public until now. It may be the first of its kind. Equally unusual is the way the NSA extracts what it wants, according to the document: “Collection directly from the servers of these U.S. Service Providers: Microsoft, Yahoo, Google, Facebook, PalTalk, AOL, Skype, YouTube, Apple.” GCHQ, Britain’s equivalent of the NSA, also has been secretly gathering intelligence from the same internet companies through an operation set up by the NSA. PRISM was launched from the ashes of President George W. Bush’s secret program of warrantless domestic surveillance in 2007, after news media disclosures, lawsuits and the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court forced the president to look for new authority. Congress obliged with the Protect America Act in 2007 and the FISA Amendments Act of 2008, which immunized private companies that cooperated voluntarily with U.S. intelligence collection. Government officials and the document itself made clear that the NSA regarded the identities of its private partners as PRISM’s most sensitive secret, fearing that the companies would withdraw from the program if exposed. “98 percent of PRISM production is based on Yahoo, Google and Microsoft; we need to make sure we don’t harm these sources,” the briefing’s author wrote in his speaker’s notes.
Note: For graphs and lots more on the Prism program, see the Guardian article at this link. Technically, U.S. officials are not allowed to mine personal data from U.S. citizens. Yet if U.K. authorities mine data on U.S. citizens, they can share it freely with officials in the U.S. and vice versa. There is evidence that this happens quite frequently, thus circumventing privacy protections.

Everything you need to know about the NSA’s phone records scandal
June 6, 2013, Washington Post
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/wonkblog/wp/2013/06/06/everything-you-need-to-know...
The Guardian [has] released a classified court order requiring Verizon to turn over records of all domestic phone calls to the National Security Agency. The revelation has led to a renewed debate over the legality and policy merits of indiscriminate government surveillance of Americans. The court order, issued by the secret Foreign Intelligence Surveillance court, only sought metadata — a fancy word for information like what numbers you called, what time you made the calls, and how long the calls were. The order does not seek the audio of calls. Of course, it’s possible the NSA has other programs collecting the contents of calls. In 2006 a whistleblower reported the existence of a secret, NSA-controlled room in an AT&T switching facility in San Francisco. So it’s possible the NSA is using rooms like that to listen to everyone’s phone calls. But all we know for sure is that the NSA has been requesting information about our phone calls. We only have proof of spying on Verizon customers, but it’s hard to imagine the NSA limiting its surveillance program to one company. There are probably similar orders in effect for AT&T and CenturyLink, the other major telephone companies. The order includes hints that the NSA is also collecting information from cellular customers. In addition to phone numbers and call times, the order seeks information about the specific cell phone tower the customer used to connect to the network during each call. Cellphones make calls using the closest tower. So if the NSA knows you made a call using a specific tower, they can safely assume you were near that tower at the time of the call.

Report: Verizon Built Separate Fiber-Optic Line Linked Directly to US Government

Business Insider reported on the fiber-optic line:
James Risen and Eric Lichtblau of The New York Times — who won a Pulitzer Prize in 2005 for this story on the NSA gaining the cooperation of U.S. telecommunications companies to obtain backdoor access to customer data — mentioned a detail from 2007 (emphasis ours):
In Virginia, a telecommunications consultant reported, Verizon had set up a dedicated fiber-optic line running from New Jersey to Quantico, Va., home to a large military base, allowing government officials to gain access to all communications flowing through the carrier’s operations center.

NSA Built Back Door In All Windows Software by 1999

In researching the stunning pervasiveness of spying by the government (it’s much more wide spread than you’ve heard even now), we ran across the fact that the FBI wants software programmers to install a backdoor in all software.
Digging a little further, we found a 1999 article by leading European computer publication Heise which noted that the NSA had already built a backdoor into all Windows software:
Webmaster's Commentary:
"No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation." -- Fifth Amendment to the United States Constitution
The NSA has been taking the private property of every computer owner in America, their computer processing time, memory, and storage, without just compensation, for every single day that computer was turned on, since 1999.
Time for a class-action lawsuit by all computer owners against those NSA cyber-criminals.

The U.S. government has been hacking in to the servers of Microsoft, Yahoo, Google, Facebook, PalTalk, AOL, Skype, YouTube and Apple and has been taking their user data without their knowledge or consent. According to the Washington Post, the information being stolen includes "audio and video chats, photographs, e-mails, documents, and connection logs". This program is known as PRISM, and it was first revealed by the Washington Post on Thursday. Since the story broke, Director of National Intelligence James Clapper has admitted that PRISM exists and so has Barack Obama. The Washington Post initially claimed that all of the Internet companies were willingly handing over their user data to the government. Now we are learning that is NOT true. In fact, all of the Internet companies named in the Washington Post story have denied knowing about PRISM or ever giving the federal government permission to directly access their servers. So this means that the U.S.

The Blaze: NSA Whistleblower Says Everyone In US Under Surveillence, Massive Data Center In Utah

The NSA’s PRISM program, which accesses the systems of internet giants like Facebook and Google to obtain user data, was revealed this week. These are the adjectives some officials in Washington are using to describe not the sweeping surveillance of Americans by the NSA revealed this week, but letting Americans know that such surveillance exists.

Giant US software manufacturer Lotus has been lowering the profile of information about how they have installed an NSA-only trapdoor into e-mail and conference systems used by many European governments, including the German Ministry of Defence, the French Ministry of Education and Research and the Ministry of Education in Latvia.

The first discovery of the new NSA access system was made two years ago by British researcher Dr Nicko van Someren. But it was only a few weeks ago when a second researcher rediscovered the access system. With it, he found the evidence linking it to NSA.
Computer security specialists have been aware for two years that unusual features are contained inside a standard Windows software "driver" used for security and encryption functions. The driver, called ADVAPI.DLL, enables and controls a range of security functions. If you use Windows, you will find it in the C:\Windows\system directory of your computer.
ADVAPI.DLL works closely with Microsoft Internet Explorer, but will only run cryptographic functions that the US governments allows Microsoft to export. That information is bad enough news, from a European point of view. Now, it turns out that ADVAPI will run special programmes inserted and controlled by NSA. As yet, no-one knows what these programmes are, or what they do.

Amid the explosive back-to-back revelations made by the Guardian and Washington Post regarding a pair of National Security Agency surveillence programs this week, the hacktivist group Anonymous on Friday released what they claim are additional NSA documents that both deepen and expand on those earlier revelations.

Canadians should pay attention to the U.S. surveillance story

The safety and value of American privacy has been called into questions following leaked information about an Internet surveillance program and, just maybe, those concerns should leak into Canada as well.
The Washington Post learned this week that U.S. authorities have been mining tech companies to access emails, photos and other documents in order to analyze a person’s online behaviour. A separate report suggested the government was doing the same with calls on the Verizon telephone network, both inside the U.S. as well as other countries.
The result is the National Security Agency (NSA) compiling a map and timeline of information related to who contacts whom and when, regardless of whether they are accused of any wrongdoing.
U.S. President Barack Obama defended the program on Friday, saying it "struck the right balance" between privacy and safety. "Nobody is listening to your telephone calls. That's not what this program is about," Obama said, according to Reuters.
That's fine in America, but what about Canada?
At the heart of the matter is the NSA's relationship with PRISM – a government surveillance program that mines information from U.S.-owned tech companies.
U.S. intelligence chief James Clapper told Reuters the law lets government agencies access the information of "non-U.S. persons" outside of the United States.
Presumably the U.S. Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act has more important things to monitor than correspondence between U.S. uncles and Canadian nephews, but those could be covered as well.
He adds that he is asked about this issue whenever he travels outside the U.S. "Yes, U.S. government agencies are reading email, tracking phone calls, and monitoring all communications," he writes.
The Guardian reported on Friday that U.K.’s security agency was also gathering information through the PRISM program.
Privacy lawyer David Fraser told Global News that if Canada's intelligence agencies were taking the same measures, it would take a whistleblower inside the government to bring it to light.
He added that Canada's anti-terrorism laws don't allow our government to go to the same lengths as in America.
Thank goodness for small miracles. Although it's not likely we are out of the woods entirely.

Wealth of most Americans down 55% since recession
May 31, 2013, CBS News
http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-505123_162-57587033/wealth-of-most-americans-down-55-since-recession
Increasing housing prices and the stock market's posting all-time highs haven't helped the plight most Americans. The average U.S. household has recovered only 45 percent of the wealth they lost during the recession, according to a report released yesterday from the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. This finding is a very different picture than one painted in a report earlier this year by the Fed that calculated Americans as a whole had regained 91 percent of their losses. The earlier number is based on aggregate household-net-worth data [which] isn't adjusted for inflation, population growth or the nature of the wealth. Much of recovery in net worth is because of the stock market, which means most of the improvement has been a boon only to wealthy families. "Clearly, the 91 percent recovery of wealth losses portrayed by the aggregate nominal measure paints a different picture than the 45 percent recovery of wealth losses indicated by the average inflation-adjusted household measure," the report said. "Considering the uneven recovery of wealth across households, a conclusion that the financial damage of the crisis and recession largely has been repaired is not justified," the researchers said. Almost two-thirds of the increase in aggregate household wealth is due to rising stock prices. This has disproportionately benefited the richest households: About 80 percent of stocks are held by the wealthiest 10 percent of the population.

The Syrian War: Israel and U.S. Coordinating How to Target Assad’s Arsenal

52 days after an Israeli general publicly declared that Syria has used chemical weapons against rebels, the Obama administration reached the same conclusion, and used the finding to justify announcing it would send small arms to the side of the victims. “I will not say ‘We told you so,’ only, okay, the proof is there, so there’s no more question about it,” says Israeli foreign ministry spokesman Yigal Palmor, taking with a smile the easy part of the equation now laid before Israel.
And of course we should remember that it was Israel and the US who insisted Iraq had nuclear weapons, so why anyone with half a brain (TIME) would listen to their claims about Syria is a complete mystery!

Russia questions Syrian chemical weapons evidence

Russia's foreign minister said Saturday that the evidence put forth by the United States of chemical weapons use in Syria apparently doesn't meet stringent criteria for reliability.

Aspartame is linked to Leukemia and Lymphoma in new Landmark Study on Humans

As few as one diet soda daily may increase the risk for leukemia in men and women, and for multiple myeloma and non-Hodgkin lymphoma in men, according to new results from the longest-ever running study on aspartame as a carcinogen in humans. Importantly, this is the most comprehensive, long-term study ever completed on this topic, so it holds more weight than other past studies which appeared to show no risk. And disturbingly, it may also open the door for further similar findings on other cancers in future studies.
The most thorough study yet on aspartame - Over two million person-years
For this study, researchers prospectively analyzed data from the Nurses' Health Study and the Health Professionals Follow-Up Study for a 22-year period. A total of 77,218 women and 47,810 men were included in the analysis, for a total of 2,278,396 person-years of data. Apart from sheer size, what makes this study superior to other past studies is the thoroughness with which aspartame intake was assessed. Every two years, participants were given a detailed dietary questionnaire, and their diets were reassessed every four years. Previous studies which found no link to cancer only ever assessed participants' aspartame intake at one point in time, which could be a major weakness affecting their accuracy.
One diet soda a day increases leukemia, multiple myeloma and non-Hodgkin lymphomas
The combined results of this new study showed that just one 12-fl oz. can (355 ml) of diet soda daily leads to:
- 42 percent higher leukemia risk in men and women (pooled analysis)
- 102 percent higher multiple myeloma risk (in men only)
- 31 percent higher non-Hodgkin  lymphoma risk (in men only)
These results were based on multi-variable relative risk models, all in comparison to participants who drank no diet soda. It is unknown why only men drinking higher amounts of diet soda showed increased risk for multiple myeloma and non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Note that diet soda is the largest dietary source of aspartame  (by far) in the U.S. Every year, Americans consume about 5,250 tons of aspartame in total, of which about 86 percent (4,500 tons) is found in diet sodas.
Confirmation of previous high quality research on animals
This new study shows the importance of the quality of research. Most of the past studies showing no link between aspartame and cancer have been criticized for being too short in duration and too inaccurate in assessing long-term aspartame intake. This new study solves both of those issues. The fact that it also shows a positive link to cancer should come as no surprise, because a previous best-in-class research study done on animals (900 rats over their entire natural lifetimes) showed strikingly similar results back in 2006: aspartame significantly increased the risk for lymphomas and leukemia in both males and females. More worrying is the follow on mega-study, which started aspartame exposure of the rats at the fetal stage. Increased lymphoma and leukemia risks were confirmed, and this time the female rats also showed significantly increased breast (mammary) cancer rates. This raises a critical question: will future, high-quality studies uncover links to the other cancers in which aspartame has been implicated (brain, breast, prostate, etc.)?
There is now more reason than ever to completely avoid aspartame in our daily diet. For those who are tempted to go back to sugary sodas as a "healthy" alternative, this study had a surprise finding: men consuming one or more sugar-sweetened sodas daily saw a 66 percent increase in non-Hodgkin lymphoma (even worse than for diet soda). Perhaps the healthiest soda is NO SODA AT ALL.

Fluoridegate - the film that will absolutely obliterate any remaining credibility of chemical fluoride pushers

"Exposing a child to (fluoride) chemicals in the first six years of life ... will harm that child's learning capability, self control, and have effects on his brain function that are lifelong," explains Dr. Roger D. Masters, Ph.D., Professor Emeritus at Dartmouth College about the fluoride scam. "To permit that to happen when you know it's happening, and not to interfere by stopping the use of something like silicofluoride, which makes it worse, is immoral."

Diet fizzy drinks make you 60% MORE likely to get diabetes than regular, 'full fat' versions

Diet fizzy drinks can raise the risk of diabetes by 60 per cent, startling new research has revealed.
A study of more than 66,000 women found those who drank artificially sweetened drinks were more likely to develop the disease than those who indulged in regular, 'full fat' versions.
The findings, published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, fly in the face of conventional thinking that regular versions of fizzy drinks are always worse for our health.
The effect is compounded by the fact that diet drinkers also consume more - on average 2.8 glasses a week compared to 1.6 for regular drinkers.

Another Canadian City Bans Fluoride From Its Water Supply

A growing number of people on the planet are beginning to wake up to the truth about fluoride and how harmful it really is. Windsor, Ontario, Canada has joined a number of other Canadian municipalities that have voted to put a stop to the practice of putting fluoride into the water supply. The vote was passed earlier this week after a five hour debate between medical experts and the city council. Ask yourself, do you really think fluoride is put into the water supply of most major cities because some “experts” believe it to be capable of preventing tooth decay?

Scientists Discover New Technique to Remove Fluoride from Drinking Water

Andrew Puhanic, Contributor
Activist Post
Around the world, it is estimated that tens of millions of people are affected by both dental and skeletal fluorosis. In many cases, it is the addition of fluoride into drinking water supplies by governments that is the primary cause of both dental and skeletal fluorosis.
Common techniques used for defluoridation are coagulation-precipitation, membrane process and ion exchange.
The problem with these three techniques is that they are either too expensive or they further pollute the water.
Researchers from the National University of Sciences and Technology in Pakistan have discovered an effective method to remove fluoride from drinking water that is less expensive than conventional filtration processes and is safe to use.
The study, published in the Journal of Chemistry, concluded that the removal of fluoride from drinking water using modified immobilized activated alumina (MIAA) resulted in a removal efficiency that was 1.35 times higher than normal immobilized activated alumina.
It was discovered that MIAA, at 20 +/- degrees Celsius has the capacity to remove more than 95% of fluoride from water. In fact, the adsorption capacity of MIAA was much higher (0.76 mg/g) when compared to the adsorption capacity of activated charcoal (0.47 mg/g) for the same concentration fluoride samples.

Canadian Researchers Discover New Evidence That Vitamin D Shuts Down Cancer Cells

Researchers at McGill University have discovered a molecular basis for the cancer preventive effects of vitamin D, whereby its active form essentially shuts down cancer cells.
People with higher blood levels of vitamin D live significantly longer than people who have low blood levels of the vitamin.
People with higher blood levels of vitamin D live significantly longer than people who have low blood levels of the vitamin.

The team, led by McGill professors John White and David Goltzman, of the Faculty of Medicine’s Department of Physiology, discovered that the active form of vitamin D acts by several mechanisms to inhibit both the production and function of the protein cMYC. cMYC drives cell division and is active at elevated levels in more than half of all cancers. Their results are published in the latest edition of Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
For the past several years, there has been considerable interest in the role vitamin D plays in improving health and preventing disease. Previous finding show that low levels of vitamin D have been directly associated with various forms of cancer and cardiovascular disease. Stephen B. Kritchevsky, PhD, Professor of Internal Medicine and Transitional Science at the Wake Forest School of Medicine found a signficant correlation.
“We observed vitamin D insufficiency (defined as blood levels <20 a="" href="http://www.wakingtimes.com/2012/11/27/canadian-researchers-discover-new-evidence-that-vitamin-d-shuts-down-cancer-cells/" in="" ml="" ng="" of="" one="" our="" study="" third="" title="Click to Continue > by Browse to Save">participants
. This was associated with nearly a 50 percent increase in the mortality rate in older adults,” said Kritchevsky. “Our findings suggest that low levels of vitamin D may be a substantial public health concern for our nation’s older adults.” Although vitamin D can be obtained from limited dietary sources and directly from exposure to the sun during the spring and summer months, the combination of poor dietary intake and sun avoidance has created vitamin D deficiency or insufficiency in large proportions of many populations worldwide. It is known that vitamin D has a wide range of physiological effects and that correlations exist between insufficient amounts of vitamin D and an increased incidence of a number of cancers. These correlations are particularly strong for cancers of the digestive tract, including colon cancer, and certain forms of leukemia.
“For years, my lab has been dedicated to studying the molecular mechanisms of vitamin D in human cancer cells, particularly its role in stopping their proliferation,” said Prof. White. “We discovered that vitamin D controls both the rate of production and the degradation of cMYC. More importantly, we found that vitamin D strongly stimulates the production of a natural antagonist of cMYC called MXD1, essentially shutting down cMYC function”.
Chemoprevention Through Vitamin D Without The Side Effects
“Taken together, our results show that vitamin D puts the brakes on cMYC function, suggesting that it may slow the progression of cells from premalignant to malignant states and keep their proliferation in check. We hope that our research will encourage people to maintain adequate vitamin D supplementation and will stimulate the development of large, well-controlled cancer chemoprevention trials to test the effects of adequate supplementation,” said Dr. White.
It’s been known that vitamin D can prevent that genetic damage. When vitamin D binds to specific receptors, it sets off a chain of events by which many toxic agents including cancer cells are rendered harmless. However, if there is not enough vitamin D the system can become overwhelmed and cancer can develop. “This is one of the reasons that people living closest to the equator have a much lower incidence (or absence) of specific cancers which consequently increase in locations further from the equator.”
The link between vitamin D intake and protection from cancer dates from the 1940s when Frank Apperly demonstrated a link between latitude and deaths from cancer, and suggested that sunlight gave “a relative cancer immunity”.
Both D3 and D2 precursors are hydroxylated in the liver and kidneys to form 25- hydroxyvitamin D (25(OH)D), the non-active ‘storage’ form, and 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D (1,25(OH)2D), the biologically active form that is tightly controlled by the body.
There is growing evidence that 1,25(OH)2D has anticancer effects, but the discovery that non-kidney cells can also hydroxylate 25(OH)D had profound implications, implying that higher 25(OH)D levels could protect against cancer in the local sites.
Theories linking vitamin D deficiency to certain cancers have been tested and confirmed in more than 200 epidemiological studies, and understanding of its physiological basis stems from more than 2,500 laboratory studies, according to epidemiologist Cedric Garland, DrPH, professor of family and preventive medicine at the UC San Diego School of Medicine. “This is the number one chemopreventive substance on the planet and its natural without side effects.”
Dr. Garland’s findings only lend further credence to the mountain of growing evidence that optimal levels of vitamin D are essential for your health. Here are just a few highlights into some of the most noteworthy findings:
* Some 600,000 cases of breast and colorectal cancers could be prevented each year if vitamin D levels among populations worldwide were increased, according to previous research by Dr. Garland and colleagues. And that’s just counting the death toll for two types of cancer.
* Optimizing your vitamin D levels could help you to prevent at least 16 different types of cancer including pancreatic, lung, ovarian, prostate, and skin cancers.
* A large-scale, randomized, placebo-controlled study on vitamin D and cancer showed that vitamin D can cut overall cancer risk by as much as 60 percent! This was such groundbreaking news that the Canadian Cancer Society has actually begun endorsing the vitamin as a cancer-prevention therapy.
* Light-skinned women who had high amounts of long-term sun exposure had half the risk of developing advanced breast cancer (cancer that spreads beyond your breast) as women with lower amounts of regular sun exposure, according to a study in the American Journal of Epidemiology.
* A study by Dr. William Grant, Ph.D., internationally recognized research scientist and vitamin D expert, found that about 30 percent of cancer deaths — which amounts to 2 million worldwide and 200,000 in the United States — could be prevented each year with higher levels of vitamin D.
Inflammation is likely at the root of many cases of vitamin D deficiency, and all chronic degenerative diseases.
Stay Away From Sunscreen
Skin color adapts to sunlight intensities which produce vitamin D or ultraviolet light damage to folic acid. Researchers at the University of Leeds suggest that people with very pale skin may be unable to spend enough time in the sun to make the amount of vitamin D the body needs — while also avoiding sunburn. The key is to stay away from conventional subscreen and use non-toxic alternatives to extend exposure time.
The further you live from the equator, the longer exposure you need to the sun in order to generate vitamin D. Canada, the UK and most U.S. states are far from the equator and the logic of using sunscreen is quickly becoming illogical even in scientific circles.
Unlike fads that sizzled and fizzled, the evidence for Vitamin D’s health benefits is now strong and keeps growing. If it bears out, it will challenge one of medicine’s most fundamental beliefs: that people need to coat themselves with sunscreen whenever they’re in the sun. Doing that may actually contribute to far more cancer deaths than it prevents, some researchers think.
The vitamin is D, nicknamed the “sunshine vitamin” because the skin makes it from ultraviolet rays. Sunscreen blocks its production, but dermatologists and health agencies have long preached that such lotions are needed to prevent skin cancer. Now some scientists are questioning that advice. The reason is that vitamin D increasingly seems important for preventing and even treating many types of cancer.
  • Comprehensive scientific reviews indicate that 83% of 785 sunscreen products offer inadequate protection from the sun, or contain ingredients with significant safety concerns. Only 17% of the products on the market are both safe and effective, blocking both UVA and UVB radiation, remaining stable in sunlight, and containing few if any ingredients with significant known or suspected health hazards. The assessment is based on a review of nearly 400 scientific studies, industry models of sunscreen efficacy, and toxicity and regulatory information housed in nearly 60 government, academic, and industry databases.
  • Many products lack UVA protection. Fully 12% of high SPF sunscreens (SPF of at least 30) protect only from sunburn (UVB radiation), and do not contain ingredients known to protect from UVA radiation, the sun rays linked to skin damage and aging, immune system problems, and potentially skin cancer. FDA does not require that sunscreens guard against UVA radiation.
  • Sunscreens break down in the sun. Parodoxically, many sunscreen ingredients break down in the sun, in a matter of minutes or hours, and then let UV radiation through to the skin. Our analyses show that 54% of products on the market contain ingredients that may be unstable alone or in combination, raising questions about whether these products last as long as the label says. FDA has not proposed requirements for sunscreen stability.

Drug giants fined $11bn for criminal wrongdoing
September 20, 2012, The Independent (One of the UK's leading newspapers)
http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/health-and-families/health-news/drug-giants-fined-11bn...
The global pharmaceutical industry has racked up fines of more than $11bn in the past three years for criminal wrongdoing, including withholding safety data and promoting drugs for use beyond their licensed conditions. In all, 26 companies, including eight of the 10 top players in the global industry, have been found to be acting dishonestly. The scale of the wrongdoing, revealed for the first time, has undermined public and professional trust in the industry and is holding back clinical progress, according to two papers published in today's New England Journal of Medicine. Leading lawyers have warned that the multibillion-dollar fines are not enough to change the industry's behaviour. The 26 firms are under "corporate integrity agreements", which are imposed in the US when healthcare wrongdoing is detected, and place the companies on notice for good behaviour for up to five years. The largest fine of $3bn, imposed on the UK-based company GlaxoSmith-Kline in July after it admitted three counts of criminal behaviour in the US courts, was the largest ever. But GSK is not alone – nine other companies have had fines imposed, ranging from $420m on Novartis to $2.3bn on Pfizer since 2009, totalling over $11bn. Kevin Outterson, a lawyer at Boston University, says that despite the eye watering size of the fines they amount to a small proportion of the companies' total revenues and may be regarded as a "cost of doing business".

The drugs don't work: a modern medical scandal
September 21, 2012, The Guardian (One of the UK's leading newspapers)
http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2012/sep/21/drugs-industry-scandal-ben-goldacre
The doctors prescribing ... drugs don't know they don't do what they're meant to. Nor do their patients. The manufacturers know full well, but they're not telling. Negative data goes missing, for all treatments, in all areas of science. The regulators and professional bodies we would reasonably expect to stamp out such practices have failed us. Drugs are tested by the people who manufacture them, in poorly designed trials, on hopelessly small numbers of weird, unrepresentative patients, and analysed using techniques that are flawed by design, in such a way that they exaggerate the benefits of treatments. Unsurprisingly, these trials tend to produce results that favour the manufacturer. When trials throw up results that companies don't like, they are perfectly entitled to hide them from doctors and patients, so we only ever see a distorted picture of any drug's true effects. This distorted evidence is then communicated and applied in a distorted fashion. In their 40 years of practice after leaving medical school, doctors hear about what works ad hoc, from sales reps, colleagues and journals. But those colleagues can be in the pay of drug companies – often undisclosed – and the journals are, too. And so are the patient groups. And finally, academic papers, which everyone thinks of as objective, are often covertly planned and written by people who work directly for the companies, without disclosure. Sometimes whole academic journals are owned outright by one drug company.

Researcher says Army scientists secretly sprayed cities with radioactive particles for years

Madison Ruppert, Contributor
Activist Post

According to Lisa Martino-Taylor, a sociologist, the United States military carried out top secret experiments involving the spraying of radioactive particles on residents of St. Louis, Missouri for years.

This is hardly surprising given the fact that the entire United States is currently engaged in a massive
human experiment when we already know that the results will be nothing short of horrific. Let’s also not forget that we continue to support the use of dangerous substances and technologies, even though we know that disaster is a certainty.

It is public knowledge that the government sprayed zinc cadmium sulfide particles – which are supposedly harmless – over St. Louis, but Professor Martino-Taylor says that her research indicates a radioactive additive was also mixed in with the compound.

The targets of these experiments were primarily minorities and low-income communities – again, hardly surprising given
the U.S. government’s history of conducting brutal tests on disadvantaged populations – who had no clue that they were being subjected to dangerous chemicals from 1953-1954 and 1963-1965.

Martino-Taylor’s
research uncovered photographs showing just how these particles were distributed as well as detailed descriptions of how the public was exposed to these substances in the name of keeping America safe.

In Corpus Christi, Texas the chemical was dispersed over large portions of the city from airplanes while in St. Louis, the U.S. Army placed chemical sprayers on
schools and public housing projects, among other buildings, as well as on station wagons for mobile spraying.

Even local politicians were kept totally out of the loop with St. Louis residents simply being told that the Army was testing smoke screen technology to protect American cities from a potential Russian attack.

“The study was secretive for reason,” said Martino-Taylor to St. Louis’ KSDK. “They didn’t have volunteers stepping up and saying yeah, I’ll breathe zinc cadmium sulfide with radioactive particles.”

“It was pretty shocking. The level of duplicity and secrecy. Clearly they went to great lengths to deceive people,” she said.

Personally, I find this level of duplicity and secrecy far from shocking given that we are talking about the American government here.

Martino-Taylor had to file hundreds of Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests to get a hold of the once-classified documents confirming the spraying program.

Her research determined that the greatest concentration of spraying was focused on the Pruitt-Igoe housing complex, which is located northwest of downtown St. Louis in the Carr Square neighborhood.

This complex, which was destroyed in 1972, housed some 10,000 people with low incomes, an estimated 70 percent of which were children under the age of 12.

“This was a violation of all medical ethics, all international codes, and the military’s own policy at that time,” Martino-Taylor said.

The earlier evidence emerged in the 1990s when then-Congressman Richard Gephardt called on the Army to open their records and given an explanation for their testing in St. Louis.

“We want to make sure nothing went on that would harm anyone, and that all the fact[s] are out on the table,” Gephardt said at the time.

The documents which were eventually released revealed that the United States Army actually placed sprayers on various buildings, although the Army continued to insist that the chemicals were totally safe.

Martino-Taylor’s research shows that this is far from the truth.

“There is a lot of evidence that shows people in St. Louis and the city, in particular minority communities, were subjected to military testing that was connected to a larger radiological weapons testing project,” said Martino-Taylor.

Martino-Taylor’s findings link the program to
U.S. Radium, a company infamous for being hit with lawsuits over their workers getting contaminated by radiation.

“US radium had this reputation where they had been found legally liable for producing a radioactive powdered paint that killed many young
women who painted fluorescent watch tiles,” Martino-Taylor said.

The U.S. Army does, in fact, admit that they added a fluorescent substance to the compound they sprayed, but the details of the radioactivity of the added substance remains completely secret and likely will for quite a while.

The documents uncovered by Martino-Taylor show that the Army never so much as conducted a single follow-up study to see if the compound they sprayed did long term damage to the people unwittingly subjected to their experimentation.
Through this case study, the author explores how a large number of participants inside an organization will willingly participate in organizational acts that are harmful to others, and how large numbers of outsiders, who may or may not be victims of organizational activities, are unable to determine illegal or harmful activity by an organization, Martino-Taylor wrote.
Indeed, hopefully this case will help strengthen the now massive body of evidence which proves that “our” government, in fact, regularly treats us like nothing more than lab rats, cannon fodder and collateral for loans.

Modern wheat a "perfect, chronic poison," doctor says

Davis said that the wheat we eat these days isn't the wheat your grandma had: "It's an 18-inch tall plant created by genetic research in the '60s and '70s," he said on "CBS This Morning." "This thing has many new features nobody told you about, such as there's a new protein in this thing called gliadin. It's not gluten. I'm not addressing people with gluten sensitivities and celiac disease. I'm talking about everybody else because everybody else is susceptible to the gliadin protein that is an opiate. This thing binds into the opiate receptors in your brain and in most people stimulates appetite, such that we consume 440 more calories per day, 365 days per year."
Asked if the farming industry could change back to the grain it formerly produced, Davis said it could, but it would not be economically feasible because it yields less per acre. However, Davis said a movement has begun with people turning away from wheat - and dropping substantial weight.

Corexit chemical dispersant used by BP during Gulf oil disaster linked to horrific human injuries

A man who is now a paraplegic and who is also going blind has filed a lawsuit against British Petroleum (BP) and its related companies; Halliburton; Transocean; NALCO; ConocoPhilips and several other companies involved with the Deepwater Horizon oil disaster that began on April 20, 2010, in the Gulf of Mexico. According to the suit, BP officials lied about the safety of Corexit, an oil dispersant sprayed throughout the Gulf, which resulted in serious and permanent injuries for a dive team that helped with cleanup efforts.

BP's Influence Peddling In Congress Bears Fruit Two Years After Gulf Spill

As millions of barrels of oil began pouring into the Gulf of Mexico in April 2010, Democratic lawmakers began asking the question: what was the proper amount of money that the company responsible for the spill should have to pay?
The bill was dubbed the "Big Oil Bailout Prevention Unlimited Liability Act." Introduced during the peak of anger over the spill and amid legitimate fears over how long the oil would continue to flow unabated, it seemed as though there was a fairly reasonable chance it would pass. When President Barack Obama not only endorsed the measure but also argued for eliminating a cap altogether, its prospects improved further.
The US Congress, in the 21st century, is simply an assemblage of individuals acquired by large corporations, so that those corporations only have to take minimal responsibility when their actions have created maximum damage to the American people.

Conclusive Evidence That BP Misrepresented Gulf Oil Spill Sent To Congress

Gulf Rescue Alliance (GRA) has just sent a briefing package to the Attorney Generals of Alabama and Louisiana which presents evidence they believe has never seen the light of day concerning the how and why of the Deepwater Horizon Disaster and subsequent release of toxic oil into the Gulf—oil that is still gushing from various seabed fractures and fissures.
The evidence provided therein clearly indicates:
* The unmentioned existence of a 3rd Macondo well (the real source of the explosion, DWH sinking and ensuing oil spill).
* The current condition of this well being such that it can never be properly capped.
  • The compromised condition of the seabed floor being such that there are multiple unnatural sources of gushers continuing to pour into the Gulf, with Corexit dispersant still suppressing its visibility.
  • That the highly publicized capped well (Well A) never occurred as reported, and in fact was an abandoned well, hence it was never the source of the millions of gallons released into the Gulf.
GRA’s special report (a comprehensive compilation of research released by insiders and experts through confidential internet sources) has been forwarded to Congress in advance of BP’s upcoming trial on Monday, February 27th in New Orleans, LA.  Entitled An Expert’s Analysis of ROV Film Footage Taken at the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill Disaster Site, it has also been submitted to the appropriate federal, state and county authorities, plaintiff attorneys, and environmental and health advocacy groups who have a stake in the outcome of the trial.
“The Gulf Rescue Alliance has no interest in publicity for itself, pointing fingers, finding who to blame or anything else; we are interested in catalyzing action on an urgent basis to save the Gulf from long-term, disastrous impacts by getting actual solutions being applied; solutions that have been blocked by the EPA for the past 23 years.  We hold the EPA directly responsible for keeping in place the destructive response protocols used in this disaster aka Corexit.  The Gulf and the life it supports can’t wait 3, 6 or 12 months for a trial to bring a resolution; nor will a real resolution be possible if no admission occurs of the currently uncapped well. Justice and damage dollars will mean nothing if the Gulf is dead,” said a spokesperson for GRA.
Much of the original underwater video that was analyzed comes from oilspillhub.org*, “an online resource for those studying the largest environmental disaster in U.S. history. The site provides an archive of the underwater video of the event, as well as additional tools and resources for educators, scientists, and engineers who are expanding our knowledge of environmental issues.”
“Oilspillhub.org is developed and hosted by Purdue University working in cooperation with the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works and the House Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming and the Energy and Environment Subcommittee in the House Energy and Commerce Committee.” - oilspillhub.org
The aforementioned “Expert’s Analysis” makes plain the fact that much information, of which BP et al. was the exclusive source, had been misrepresented with prior deliberation before being submitted to the US Federal Government and other concerned parties.  In many cases the forensic analysis has laid bare a pattern of tampering with evidence in an attempt to mitigate the compensatory and punitive damages BP might be forced to pay.

This extraordinary report goes on to document a scenario in which it appears that BP illegally drilled more than one well at the Macondo Prospect in the Gulf of Mexico (GOM). Furthermore, the well that was ultimately capped after 87 straight days of gushing oil and gas into the Gulf may not be the one that was licensed by the appropriate US permitting agencies.
The factual sequence of events, and especially the actual response by BP, appear to be far different from those reported in the media and by the Coast Guard.  It is important to note that BP was given a lead position in the unified command structure authorized by the US Federal Government immediately following the burning and sinking of the Deepwater Horizon.  This transference of authority away from the impacted state governments was unprecedented in US history and created a virtual monopoly over the flow of information from BP to the appropriate authorities, as well as to the public-at-large.
From even a cursory reading of this “Expert’s Analysis” it becomes clear that the actual evolution of the BP oil spill fits a narrative that is replete with instances of covering up and altering much essential data and information, which would have served as definitive evidence against BP in numerous foreseen legal actions.  Ultimately, much of the information contained in this report may serve to “indict” not only BP and their corporate co-conspirators on several different violations of federal law and state statutes, but also various departments and agencies within the US Federal Government.
However, this was not the purpose for writing this report; rather this consortium of environmental organizations, health advocacy groups and citizen activists encourage the efficient dissemination of this analysis (and its various assessments) in the interest that the much needed federal programs and state initiatives will be implemented expeditiously to “clean up the Gulf”.  They are particularly concerned and eager to see the proper remediation of the GOM waters, beaches, wetlands and estuaries begin in earnest.
“All this is absolutely relevant to the case at hand; and particularly getting this vital information into the hands of the Attorney General of Alabama and anyone else involved in this trial. But our purpose for doing so is to gain attention to what we consider the real situation: EPA’s continued endorsement of toxic Corexit dispersants being used in the Gulf waters, as well as their enforced ban on safe, non-toxic bioremediation products such as Oil Spill Eater II-an effective EPA tested and approved product used around the world,” said GRA.
“It would seem plausible that government officials knew of the information about the 3rd Well but aided in covering it up similar to the recent PEER report revealing the fact that top White House officials manipulated scientific analyses by independent experts to seriously lowball the amount of oil leaking from the BP Deepwater Horizon.

Chevron Nigeria gas well fire 'may burn for months'

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-17126335
A fire is burning in a 40m-wide area on the surface of the Atlantic Ocean, 10km off the Nigerian coast.
The company is trying to put out the fire by piercing a hole in the original gas well - through which cement will be poured.
"There'll be 10,000ft of drilling and interestingly we need to hit an area that is approximately 12sq inches," Mr Avram told the BBC.
"It is going to take some time, but I cannot predict how long that is going to be - conceivably months," he said.

Chevron assessing damage of Washington Co. well leak

A leaking 2-inch pipe carrying oily condensates from a fracking operation at a Chevron-Appalachia Marcellus Shale well in Robinson, Washington County, has become a much bigger problem than the company and state regulators thought when it was discovered 10 weeks ago.
The leak from a faulty pipe joint weld buried 4 feet under the well pad was discovered by the company and reported to the state Department of Environmental Protection on Dec. 20. At the time, Chevron thought it had spilled about two barrels, or about 100 gallons, and told the DEP it was a minor incident and under control.

Peak Oil LIE!

Oil production is actually increasing because of new technology coming on board, and they are able to reach oil that was out of reach before and they are able to do so at a unit cost of extraction that makes it profitable to do so. None of this of course is touching all of the research that was done in the former Soviet Union that confirmed that petroleum is not the remains of old dinosaurs... it is in fact being produced continuously by deep crust microbes.

RIP: Peak Oil - we won't be running out any time soon

The belief that global oil production has peaked, or is on the cusp of doing so, has helped to fuel oil’s more than decade-long rally. The resurgence of US gas production to well over its 1970s peak and into the number one slot globally over the last seven years is a result of hydraulic fracturing – fracking – techniques being applied to shale gas reserves across the US. The same companies are now using the same techniques on shale oil reserves, with results that in many cases look as promising as the early stages of the shale gas revolution. US oil production is now on the rise, entirely because of shale oil production, as conventional sources such as Alaska or California are structurally declining, and as Gulf of Mexico production is poised for a post-Macondo recovery.
In other words, "Peak Oil", like "Human Caused Global Warming" was a hoax to scare people support for certain political agendas they otherwise would not have wasted time with. And this article does not mention Russia's extensive research into the true abiotic origins of oil.

Tens of billions at stake in BP oil spill trial

Tens of billions of dollars will be at stake when BP heads to a US court this month to determine how much it owes for the massive Gulf of Mexico oil spill and how much it can shift to subcontractors.
The April 20, 2010 explosion on the BP-leased Deepwater Horizon drilling rig killed 11 workers, blackened beaches in five US states and devastated the Gulf Coast’s tourism and fishing industries.
It is now up to a federal judge to determine whether the deadly missteps constitute gross negligence, how much of the blame rests with each party and whether punitive damages should be imposed.
One has to wonder about the circumstances under which Federal Judge Carl Barbier was selected for this work by the US Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation.
Judge Barbier presides over many consolidated cases following from the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Barbier was chosen by the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation on August 10, 2010. Most of the claims are brought by fisherman, rig workers, boat captains, and similar plaintiffs (securities claims brought by BP shareholders were transferred to Houston). [3]
In light of the fact that BP was one of the most generous campaign donors to President Obama in the 2008 election, one has to wonder if Barbier has been given his marching orders to absolve BP of as much financial liability as judicially possible.

Gulf of Mexico: Confirmed oil gushing blown crater was Well No 3 and not 2nd leak on the riser

The initial gas blowout (20 April 2010) which killed 11 drilling crew on the burning Deepwater Horizon rig, did not unleash the massive oil spill as BP and the government regulators had wanted us to believe. A detonated explosion within the well on the evening of 22 April, shortly after 2200z (1700 CDT) did.

2010 July 30- why-is-bps-macondo-blowout-so-disastrous-beyond-patch-up
4 What you don’t see can be covered up.
Perhaps the botched-up “photochop-chop” photos put up by BP was just a test. To see how keen the public eyes were in following BP’s clean up efforts. It would be hard to believe BP paid professionals for such a shoddy job. We should give BP more credit than that (remember the shares issues)? Let’s play dumb and the problems will go away.
Many experts in the oil industry were surprised and questioned the rationality of capping the well when the relief wells were so close to achieving their “bottom kill” objectives. They could have installed the TOP CAP much earlier. This means that BP knew if the gushing well was completely shut at the top, the oil and gas would spread beneath the sea floor and gas seeps would start appearing. So the TOP CAP had to be placed just before the relief well was ready for the “magic show”. Hurricane Bonnie spoilt the show and the delay is already showing signs of stress (gas seeps).
This could also mean that BP was getting less and less confident that the relief wells would work. The relief wells were held up as the last Trump card. If it fails in full (ROV) view of the concerned public throughout the world, BP’s shares would drop like a stone. There are good geological reasons why the chances of the relief wells’ success are less than 30%. But that would be in the next posting.
So instead “of going on a public stage with a final trump card of 30% chance of success” and risking everything BP stands for, a magic show will be set up so that what ever happens, it will be a success. How?
With a gushing well in full view, a successful bottom kill would show oil slowing down to eventually a tickle. With the cap on, it would be easier to manipulate the data. Thus botched-up photos were a test to check the keenness of the public eye. If the bottom kill fails, there is no independent monitor to prove it. BP could quickly pack and leave the site. Without ROVs’ video, the world is blind. Independent scientific researches later on could be disputed or controlled in post-recovery mopped up battle plan.
The TOP CAP had to be installed and the integrity pressure tests used as an excuse to completely shut down the flow. There is no need to prove the well is leaking. It is already a fact. David Copperfield could not have performed better.

A primer on QC analyses of doctored ROV videos. What? BP doctored ROV videos?
It is almost unbelievable that a respectable global giant like BP could be so unethical. If you can't make it, fake it. That was what BP did. So far we have been proven right. There is a lot more. Each time we dig, we found more dirt. Many had also wondered how we could tell the difference especially in the light of so many doctored videos released by BP. And why isn't the mainstream media keeping so quiet on BP's data frauds.
With some fundamentals, you can also be your own detective. Here is the how.
Time & space, cannot be created or subtracted but flow continuously in unison. For example, if an ROV moves from point A to B and then to C, its movement can be described by time, motion, speed and position. You cannot substitute C by A without screwing up the consistency of the all the time-spatial relationships. BP substituted well A coordinates on videos which had been recorded previously at the 3rd well location showing the BOP and Bent Riser. You might wonder why? Such elaborate deceptions played in frontal view of world's audience cannot be just for an April Fool's joke. See later articles coming up on the series.
Essentially it means that you can lie to some people some of the time but you cannot lie to all the people all of the time.
As you add more factors or constrains, the narrow path of lying becomes even narrower. It is like broadening the stage prop. Remember in the Art of Mass Deception, the stage prop is meant only for the front view audience. Look beyond the stage prop and you will see the flaws. The depth variation constrain was added to our analyses which apparently the fraudsters (not being surveyors) were largely ignorant of.
All of the video footage handed to us have their time-spatial details embedded in them. Adulterating them (by us) would leave graphic evidence no matter how professionally done, especially with videos. Our job here was to prove inconsistencies and adulteration of time-spatial details. We do not adulterate videos submitted to us for analyses in order to fit our analyses. There are many ways to check this but this is not included in our primer here for obvious reasons.
BP's raw video feeds were recorded independently without embedding the time-spatial details. Hence it would have been very easy for BP's technicians to broadcast even live video feeds with superficially generated time-spatial details. This is what we suspected they did generally but not all the time. Each video in question has to be examined on case to case basis.
Depending on operators, the date format can sometimes switch from American (mm dd yy) to British (dd mm yy) and feet to metric. The coordinates are all in feet, but depth and altitude can be in feet or metres. The depth here refers to the ROV Depth or the height of the water column above the ROV (measured by a depth pressure sensor which had to be correctly calibrated). If there is a bulk error (say 30ft) it should rightly appear in all depths displayed. Thus, by subtracting the bulk (or datum error) we can retrieve back the right depth. Altitude, depth, coordinates, heading, are all designed for automatic input from the sensors without human intervention once the system is calibrated, up and running. Any human intervention thereafter is likely to be for fraudulent purposes other than normal operation.
The water depth at the ROV location is the sum of the altitude (measured by an ultrasonic transducer to the seabed) and the ROV depth. This is where the bathymetric chart (in BP's exploration plan) comes in handy. Both well A and B have the same water depth at 4992 ft (+/- 5 ft). The third well being up slope, has a water depth of about 4960 ft. An error range of 5 -10 ft is acceptable but the sensitivity (or variation) when the ROV is stationary should not be more than 1 ft. Heading (Hdg) is the direction of the ROV, measured by the gyro, in degrees from 0 to 360. Be aware that the ROV cameras have both zoom and tilt capability. Some of the ROVs (we are told) have hind cameras mounted on them as well. Still that does not explain the motion and orientation discrepancies in the video; resulting in obvious disconnect between the motion in the video and relative position of the recording ROV.
What we have been unable to demonstrate on still snaphots are the inconsistencies in the motion, speed, direction or orientation so obvious in the playback of these doctored videos? For example on a stationary viewport showing the spewing well, the recording ROV could not have move by hundreds of feet without affecting the area of view. With a stationary ROV (coordinates variation < 1 feet) the object in view (within the viewport) should move in opposite direction to the camera's rotation. For example, if the ROV is rotating to the starboard (increasing heading degrees, to the right facing the bow) the object in view should move towards the left and out of the viewport. But in BP's doctored videos, you will see the disconnect caused by superficially adding the navigation information after the field recording.
One BP schill commented that BP might have accidentally merged the wrong navigation information from other dives. Perhaps. But why do these “wrong navigation information” consistently get merged for only certain sensitive locations and events? Consistency in the “accidental errors” could only mean intent to cheat under the guise of “naturally occurring” accidents or errors.
In many doctored videos, you will see the heading change significantly but the BOP remained stationary within the viewport. You can demonstrate this by using a narrow beam pen-torch light shinning on an object. Of course there are the classic time skips (forward and backwards in time), coordinates jumps of more than hundreds of feets etc etc. Hopefully you can have some fun watching these ROV videos with the right perspective.
BP could only fool the world because the world allows BP to.
Having established some fundamentals, we now analyse figure 165-5, an early video example where the actual ground details were recorded, unadulterated. (So far we had not found any on these sets of videos but readers are welcome to feed us back if we had missed out on any). As a comparison to doctored videos, see Figure 165-5a Recycled Data, Frauds & BP's Gulf Disaster.
All the 3 snapshots extracted from different videos show the famous blowout crater with the huge black oil plume, gushing out to the south (see red arrow in the RT video, bottom left). BP misled the world in claiming that this was just a leak on the broken riser. It was not. It was the blown crater of the third well, which they labeled as well BE. Why would they label the well that blew on 20 April 2010 as well BE and not well A? There is a lot more in depth details in figure 165-5. This is just the tip of the iceberg (frauds in the industry). See later articles for more amazing deception by BP.
We can be quite confident on the direction of the oil flow (from the north) as the picture frame is almost parallel to the pipe (casing). The video snapshot on the lower left was captured from RT broadcast dated on 30 May 2010. The top snapshots were extracted from video recorded on 23 April and 5May(blurred?) 2010. All 3 snapshots show the supposedly 2nd leak on the riser in a crater, referred to as Leak(2).
Based on our past analyses and cross-references, we beg to differ. We had argued from different angles, that leak(2) was in fact the blown crater of the third well (BE) which they intentionally blew shortly after 1700 CDT (2220z) on 22 April. Besides trying to misrepresent the third well (BE) as well A, this “missing massive explosive event” was one of the main reason BP's official story was so ludicrously inconsistent.
The main story (BP's Deception in the Gulf, exposed) will explain further but for now we want to demonstrate the consistencies in the un-doctored videos on an obviously same oil-spewing crater.
The graph on the right bottom is a to-scale plot of the location of the 3 wells. The red text gives the details of the ROV position as per the coordinates in the snapshot. On this video, the ROV was 43ft west of the well BE crater. Thus the heading of 97 deg is about right. The water depth (4957.7 + 4.7) of 4962 ft is much closer to the depth of well BE than well A or well B.
Both the top photos show the yellow pipe (casing) to be dipping northward into the “cemented sediment” with the oil plume gushing out south. Thus all the 3 photos are consistent with each other. The fact that no coordinates were displayed for the videos on 23 April 2010, strongly suggest that BP was well aware of the sensitivity of that information. On some of the earlier videos, the coordinates were displayed as blanks or zeros. In later videos, the coordinates were falsified.
What is the chance of a falling 5000ft long super strong riser (with a 3.5 million pound load-carrying capacity) breaking into two at exactly the same location the DWH burning rig was reported to have drifted to? And where is the other half of the broken riser in the crater? It could not have floated away if it was heavy enough to dig itself into more than 5m of cemented seafloor. The probability must be astronomical, considering that BP made the report (that the burning DWH rig had drifted 714 ft NW from well A) at 220402z (23:02 CDT 21 April); less than 2 days after the discovery of the blown crater. How did BP know beforehand the 5000ft riser was going to break at that point? More amazingly, could a burning rig drift in a dead calm sea, as evident from independently taken photos? BP acknowledged the semi-sub was “anchored” in place by the riser attached to the BOP at the wellhead. Is this not inconsistent with the Drift Theory? How come none of the fire fighting vessels noticed the drift at sea? Why did the reported drift came from BP's Command Centre and not from the coastguards in the field?
As there is negligible slack in the non-stretchable riser, the burning rig had to sink by at least 50ft for it to move that distance. The burning DWH was observed to be listing from the morning of 22 April with the riser still intact. The DWH did not start to sink until the riser was (intentionally) severed at or around 10:22 CDT 22 April. Such precise timing!
This was what we wrote on 25 Aug 2010.
Twisted tale of the missing 3rd well that blew on 20 April 2010.
DWH never moved 714ft NE as reported by BP to the Coast Guard. BP had to come up with something to explain why the burning DWH was in that location. The sea was calm and DWH had no power to move. This further confirmed DWH was sitting on top of the S20BC location as correctly predicted by the seabed debris forensic analysis. BP had to move the fallen BOP and placed it on Well A in the aftermath of the blowout. This is one of the many reasons BP cannot release the video footage of the BOP immediately after the second explosion blew off the BOP and broke off the bottom fifth of the riser string as detailed in The-mystery-of-the-april-20-blowout-revealed and in The-art-of-mass-deception-part-1.
While many missing parts to the giant jigsaw puzzle have yet to be put in place, it is evident we are getting very close to the truth. Hence the intensified attacks and cointelpro on us. We had been confident enough since July 2010 to boldly publish what insiders can only whisper in private.
The significance of figure 165-5.
It confirms that the crater with the massive oil plume which BP claimed to be the second leak on the riser was indeed the blown 3rd well. The unadulterated videos are “consistently” consistent with our earlier assertions that the 3rd well that blew its top (BOP, well casing etc) and ended up as an open crater, gushing massive oil directly from the Macondo Reservoir 18,360 ft below. It is time the American public, victims and the world know the truth. BP had pulled wools over America's eyes with the fabricated 1 well - 3 leaks on the riser story long enough.
You have to wonder why BP spent more than 100 million USD to mercilessly pound their fabricated lies into the mainstream media and cyberspace to conceal the truth. The massive oil spill in the Gulf is only one of their Planned-To-Happen series of disasters. It is not for fun. These disasters including 911 were planned and triggered to serve their multiple global agenda of controlling the world. The late Matts Simmons sacrificed his life to bring the American public the truth of the BP's Gulf Disaster. His death and scores of those fallen heroes, must not be in vain. We will continue to suffer as victims (one way or another) of past and yet to materialise Inside-Job disasters.
God help us all if the truth continues to be suppressed. The next disaster may be much worse than just a massive oil spill.
A sneak preview of the startling truths in the Gulf disaster in the coming articles.
The making of BP’s Mega Oil Spill in the Gulf
There was no mega oil spill before 1700 CDT 22 April. The mega oil spill could have been averted with several run of the mill options. The 20 April incident was the sort of controllable rig-blowout fire situation the industry expects and routinely trained for. It could have been recovered safely without ending in a disastrous mega oil spill. The facts will show that an explosion within the well was purposely detonated on the evening of 22 April 2010 to induce a second blowout that unleashed the high pressure oil gush from the Macondo reservoir. The second bottom-hole blowout, breaking of the marine riser and sinking of the Deepwater Horizon (DWH), were clear subterfuge from within. How could the official investigations into the causes of this environmental disaster, miss out on all these?
The initial gas blowout (20 April 2010) which killed 11 drilling crew on the burning Deepwater Horizon rig, did not unleash the massive oil spill as BP and the government regulators had wanted us to believe. A detonated explosion within the well on the evening of 22 April, shortly after 2200z (1700 CDT) did.
BP’s Killing Spree in the GOM
Irrefutable proofs and connections of the dots would be presented in the later parts of this series dubbed “BP’s Killing Spree in the GOM”. The articles would show that BP knowingly drilled into 3 hazardous (high risk) well locations (not 1 well as BP officially declared before the US Congress) without adequate risk aversion precautions.
It is like having repeated unprotected sex with a confirmed HIV positive partner despite being forewarned. The evidence would also show that BP’s killing spree in the gulf, unmistakably started as early as March 2010. Pro BP apologists argued the abnormal high number of stranded cetaceans (> 60 dolphins and whales) in March 2010 (a month before the blowout in April) was proof that the cetaceans were stranded from unknown natural causes before the mega oil spill. The March average for the years 2002-2009, was less than 19. They failed to mention that Methane, Hydrogen Sulfide (commonly encountered in exploration drilling), drilling mud and cement had been spilling in enormous quantities (abnormal circulation losses suffered by BP) into the gulf since February 2010.
The toxicity peaked in March 2010 coinciding with the heaviest drilling losses from the 3 wells at the more problematical shallow zone; from late Feb to early April. BP abandoned well A in mid Feb with hefty drilling losses during an out of well control situation, drilled well B and well BE (3rd well) with even heavier drilling losses from 16 Mar to 7April. There is no necessity to invoke unexplained natural causes as the stranded rate correlates very well with the level of toxicity in the gulf.
The spike for the month of March 2011 was again due to increased toxicity caused by the 9.0 Japan earthquake which shook up more oil discharges into the gulf water from the shallow oil accumulations. The statistics on the stranded dolphins accurately reflect the toxicity in the gulf water as revealed in this article,Mystery Of The New Found Oil Revealed.

This is shamelessly republished in its entirely because people need to know what is happening in the Gulf and the majority of people will not click on the link to read more than an excerpt.  Thank you BK Lin for your work and devotion to bringing awareness to the ongoing disaster in the Gulf of Mexico, a subject that has been all but forgotten by even many residents in the Gulf states.

Did you know that no living dolphins have been spotted in the Gulf of Mexico until October of this year?  The Macondo well continues to bubble and burp, the sea floor continues to leak methane and BP most lkely continues to spray Corexit over the Gulf to hide their destruction of the planet.

I took this photo of the oily beach of Anna Maria Island on October 30, 2011, a year and a half after the explosion that set off an unrelenting volcano of oil, methane and other VOCs.  It was once one of the prettiest beaches in the world (at least for me) with brilliant white sand.  Today the oil is clearly visible, yet that hasn't stopped people from going to the beach, swimming in the water, and fishing  All the local restaurants, including the very famous ones, still promote Gulf seafood  as if the oil never touched the coastline of Florida.

Oil stained sand dollar.  Small oil stains were evident on several shells.

The white sand hides underneath the oily, Corexit-laced water.
Small tarballs.

New Car Engine Sends Shock Waves Through Auto Industry

Despite shifting into higher gear within the consumer's green conscience, hybrid vehicles are still tethered to the gas pump via a fuel-thirsty 100-year-old invention: the internal combustion engine.
However, researchers at Michigan State University have built a prototype gasoline engine that requires no transmission, crankshaft, pistons, valves, fuel compression, cooling systems or fluids. Their so-called Wave Disk Generator could greatly improve the efficiency of gas-electric hybrid automobiles and potentially decrease auto emissions up to 90 percent when compared with conventional combustion engines.
The engine has a rotor that's equipped with wave-like channels that trap and mix oxygen and fuel as the rotor spins. These central inlets are blocked off, building pressure within the chamber, causing a shock wave that ignites the compressed air and fuel to transmit energy.
The Wave Disk Generator uses 60 percent of its fuel for propulsion; standard car engines use just 15 percent. As a result, the generator is 3.5 times more fuel efficient than typical combustion engines.
Researchers estimate the new model could shave almost 1,000 pounds off a car's weight currently taken up by conventional engine systems.
Last week, the prototype was presented to the energy division of the Advanced Research Projects Agency, which is backing the Michigan State University Engine Research Laboratory with $2.5 million in funding.
Michigan State's team of engineers hope to have a car-sized 25-kilowatt version of the prototype ready by the end of the year.

Corporate Profit Versus Life On Earth

The last year has been especially catastrophic for life on Earth, while at the same time, corporate profits have jumped a staggering 36.8%, setting all-time records. Is this a coincidence, or are the long-term implications as sinister as they might seem?
How many disasters like the massive poisoning of the Gulf of Mexico, or gushing of radiation from multiple reactor-core meltdowns in Japan can the biosphere take? Or, perhaps a more apropos question is: How much more profit will the biosphere survive?
Tesla’s inventions include radio (recognized by the SCOTUS eight months after Tesla died), X-rays (three years before Roentgen), the Tesla coil, fluorescent light, lasers, bladeless turbines, vertical take-off aircraft, wireless transmission of electricity, the particle beam (“death”, or “peace” ray), the whole system of AC that powers the world…. At the time of his death he held over 700 patents. And the fields Tesla greatly contributed to, such as computer science, robotics, remote control, radar, ballistics, nuclear physics…a comprehensive list would be astonishing.

One invention Tesla was elusive about, sometimes offering teasers but no specifics, had the potential to eclipse all of his and anyone else’s breakthroughs—perhaps even cost him his life, and is behind the perpetual drive to minimize public awareness of Tesla. He had long prophesied that mankind would someday hook their machinery up to the energy of vacuum space—to “the very wheelworks of nature”. The theoretical basis for energy from the vacuum has now been part of “mainstream” physics literature for over fifty years. But as Tesla long intimated, any kind of “free energy” device would never be allowed to reach the market.

In 1943, Tesla had an appointment to discuss with FDR that it was possible for us to get all the energy we need simply by tapping the space we’re in. But he never made it to the meeting with FDR; Tesla was found in his apartment, dead of “natural causes”. Officially, it was a heart attack. But information leaked by investigators indicates that for reasons of “national security” the coroner’s report was to be kept secret because it revealed that Tesla died of arsenic poisoning.

Take that, competition! Take that, life on Earth. Free energy available to everyone would devastate corporate profits—almost to the extent that our global fossil fuel economy has devastated the biosphere. Tesla gave humanity so much, promised so much more, and corporations not only murdered him, they have even all but lifted him clear out of mainstream history…tried their best to make him an unperson. They have proven, and always will, that nothing is more dangerous than threatening corporate profits.

Shell profits jump 77% on higher oil prices
July 28, 2011, BBC News
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-14321819
Oil giant Royal Dutch Shell has reported a 77% jump in second-quarter profit, thanks to higher energy prices. Shell's profit for the three months to June came in at $8bn (£4.9bn) on a current cost of supplies basis, up from $4.5bn in the same period last year. Earlier this week, rival BP announced second-quarter profits of $5.3bn. Larger US rival Exxon Mobil said that net profit rose 41% to $10.7bn for the three months to June from the same period last year. The price of oil is much higher now than it was a year ago, in part inflated by political unrest in oil-producing countries such as Libya. Twelve months ago, US light sweet crude oil was trading at about $78 a barrel. It is currently trading at about $97 a barrel, having topped $110 at the end of April.
Note: Why aren't any of the major media questioning the practice of oil companies making huge profits from gas price increases, profits which come directly from the pockets of consumers? Shouldn't they all be responsible for at least part of the burden?

British Gas owner reports £1.3billion profits... just weeks after announcing eye-watering price hikes

British Gas owner Centrica made £1.3billion in the first half of the year but insists an upcoming a 18 per cent rise in bills is essential if the company is to make a profit this year.
British Gas accounted for £270million of the £1.3billion operating profit that Centrica unveiled for the six months to 30 June - which was down from £1.6billion made in the same period last year.
The power giant is also going ahead with a scheduled 12 per cent increase in the dividend it pays to shareholders.

Iran revolutionary guards commander becomes new president of Opec

A senior Iranian revolutionary guards commander targeted by international sanctions has taken over the presidency of Opec after he became Iran's oil minister on Wednesday.
Rostam Ghasemi, head of the Khatam al-Anbia military and industrial base, was one of four ministersnominated by president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to join his cabinet last week and approved by Iran's conservative-dominated parliament.
Ghasemi is currently subject to US, EU and Australian sanctions and his assets have been blacklisted by US Treasury and western powers. He took 216 votes from the 246 deputies present in the 290-seat parliament.
Payback is gonna be a bitch!

China orders US oil giant to halt rigs after spill

The 840-square-kilometre (336-square-mile) slick emanating from the oil field in Bohai Bay -- which ConocoPhillips operates with China's state-run oil giant CNOOC -- has caused huge anger amid allegations of a cover-up.

Iran discovers major oil, gas reserves

The official noted that the exact volume of the new deposit will be announced in the near future, adding that NIOC experts have estimated that the discovery will increase Iran's crude and gas condensate reserves by one billion barrels.

Venezuela tops world oil reserves

Venezuela’s proven oil reserves have surpassed Saudi Arabia’s for the first time, making it the most oil-rich nation in the world, according to the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries.
In its 2010-2011 Annual Statistical Bulletin, OPEC said Venezuela’s proven oil reserves spiked 40 percent in 2010 to reach 297 billion barrels. Saudi Arabia, the long-time leader in the category, had 265 billion barrels of proven reserves, according to the online report, which will be published in November.

Oil Pipeline Breaks on Blackfeet Reservation; Significant Volume of Oil Floods Cut Bank River, Montana

Plenty of people have heard of the recent oil spill on the Yellowstone River in Montana. Few are aware, however, that three weeks ago another leak formed a creek of crude running down to Cut Bank River just miles from Glacier National Park.
Cowardly local papers, perhaps for fear of hurting tourism or stepping in front of juggernaut corporations, have completely ignored reports from environmental officials and concerned citizens. They have often repeated the drilling company's press releases verbatim.
We were on site and documented it...

As cash-strapped motorists are forced to pay record petrol prices, BP makes profit of £3bn in just three months

As cash-strapped motorists are forced to pay high prices for petrol at the pumps, oil giant BP today unveiled profits of £3.2bn in just three months.
Boosted by record prices at the pumps, it marks a dramatic turnaround for the company in the past 12 months, but petrol remains at 136p a litre on the forecourt.
The reversal in fortunes comes after it made a £10.3million loss in the same period a year ago following the Gulf of Mexico oil spill disaster.

Sick Gulf residents continue to blame BP

Just weeks after BP's oil disaster in the Gulf of Mexico began on April 20, 2010, Fritzi Presley knew something was very wrong with her health.
The 57-year-old singer/songwriter from Long Beach, Mississippi began to feel sick, and went to her doctor.
"I began getting treatments for bronchitis, was put on several antibiotics and rescue inhalers, and even a breathing machine," she told Al Jazeera. The smell of chemicals on the Mississippi coastline is present on many days when wind blows in from the Gulf.
Presley's list of symptoms mirrors what many people living in the areas affected by BP's oil spill have told Al Jazeera.

Alabama tornado recovery: FEMA rejections vex April storm victims

The tornado turned Jonathan Stewart's house into a pile of rubble on April 27, nothing but bricks and debris scattered ovei a concrete slab.
Days later, an inspector from the Federal Emergency Management Agency came to Stewart's address in Pleasant Grove, and took some notes and pictures. Three days later, Stewart received a letter stating he didn't qualify for a FEMA grant. One of the reasons: Insufficient damage.
'Based on your FEMA inspection, we have determined that the disaster has not caused your home to be unsafe to live in,' the letter read.
This is the house FEMA says is still safe to live in.

FEMA To Demand That Hurricane Katrina Victims Return Aid Money

Associated Press
NEW ORLEANS -- Nearly six years have passed since Hurricane Katrina drowned New Orleans in misery, but many residents haven't forgiven the Federal Emergency Management Agency for its sluggish response to the storm. Now another delayed reaction by FEMA – a stop-and-start push to recoup millions of dollars in disaster aid – is reminding storm victims why they often cursed the agency's name...

Over 5,000 New Spills In The Gulf Since The BP Gulf Oil Spill Stopped 1 Year Ago Today

Since the BP Gulf oil spill was capped over 1 year ago, over 5,000 new spills have gone relativity unnoticed by the media and the public.
Even worse is while Obama falsely claims that important safety changes have been implemented the scathing truth is crooked judges are throwing out lawsuits against BP in bulk and Congress still has yet to pass any new laws governing offshore drilling safety.

BP Spill Stopped One Year Ago Today – 5,000 Spills Since Then

July 15, 2010 was a day of relief for many – even for folks up here in West Virginia – after 2-1/2 months watching helplessly as oil and gas billowed relentlessly into the Gulf of Mexico from BP’s runaway Macondo well. On that day one year ago, the final valve was carefully closed on an improvised “capping stack” that did the job after a string of heartbreaking failures. By that time an estimated 172 million gallons of oil had spewed directly into the Gulf, vastly exceeding the Exxon Valdez tanker spill of 1989 — making it the nation’s worst oil spill, and the world’s worst accidental spill.

EPA: Water Wells Contaminated Near Fracking Blowout Site

Underscoring the risks to drinking water supplies of hydraulic fracturing, three water samples collected from private wells following a blowout at a natural gas drilling site in northeast Pennsylvania have been found to be contaminated, the federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) said today.
Officials with EPA informed residents in the area of the blowout about the test results but declined to provide any details as to what contaminants were detected.

Scientists find record level of shellfish toxin in Southeast Alaska

State scientists looking into paralytic shellfish poisonings in Southeast Alaska have found the highest levels of toxin ever recorded, so high that just one mussel could cause death in several people.
Tests showed that baby mussels taken May 25 from a boat dock in Ketchikan had toxin levels estimated at more than 30,000 parts per million, according to the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services.
"At those levels, a single mussel is enough to kill several people," said Kate Sullivan, a member of the Alaska Harmful Algal Bloom program at the University of Alaska Southeast.

Even BP-Funded Scientists Find that the Use of Corexit Dispersant in the Gulf Made Things Worse, but BP Still Tries to Blame Others for Destruction

As the Herald Tribune notes, even BP-funded scientists are finding that dispersant made things worse:
BP succeeded in sinking the oil from its blown well out of sight — and keeping much of it away from beaches and marshes last year — by dousing the crude with nearly 2 million gallons of toxic chemicals. But the impact on the ecosystem as a whole may have been more damaging than the oil alone.
The combination of oil and Corexit, the chemical BP used to dissolve the slick, is more toxic to tiny plants and animals than the oil in most cases, according to preliminary research by several Florida scientists. And the chemicals may not have broken down the oil as well as expected.
Scientists reported some of their early findings last week at a Florida Institute of Oceanography conference at the University of Central Florida. The researchers were funded a year ago through a $10 million BP grant.
There is anecdotal evidence that dispersant was still being applied many months after BP and the government said spraying had stopped. See this, this, this, this, this, this, and this.

New research impacts Gulf: Crude oil linked to unborn baby defect

Unborn babies exposed to Gulf of Mexico's water, beaches, air, land and seafood may be at higher risk of having their hearts malformed before birth and having congenital heart disease for life, US researchers said Saturday. The new research may shed light on sharp increases in both Gulf miscarriages and Gulf dead baby dolphins.

Sick fish in Gulf are alarming scientists

Scientists are alarmed by the discovery of unusual numbers of fish in the Gulf of Mexico and inland waterways with skin lesions, fin rot, spots, liver blood clots and other health problems.
"It's a huge red flag," said Richard Snyder, director of the University of West Florida Center for Environmental Diagnostics and Bioremediation. "It seems abnormal, and anything we see out of the ordinary we'll try to investigate."
"I just cannot figure it out,. I mean, it can;t be the oil spill. It just can't! President Obama said the oil had magically vanished last July and he would not lie to us. And anyway he took his daughter and went for a swim in water that was really, really close to the Gulf of Mexico to show us it was safe. So, I just have no answer for why all these fish (and people) are sick. Please don't take away my global warming funding!" -- A. Scientist

April Deadliest on Record for Gulf Sea Turtles

Unprecedented numbers of dead sea turtles wash ashore
A tally of sea turtles found dead or dying on the beaches along Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama found April to have the highest numbers every recorded in a single month, 188 as of April 28, since records began in 1986. The average annual number of sea turtles found stranded in these three Gulf states 1986-2009 is 97, but reached 600 last year due to conditions resulting from the BP oil spill.
“The health of the Gulf and local sea turtles has been impacted by the BP oil spill and now ‘business as usual’ shrimping operations are jeopardizing critically endangered Kemp’s ridley sea turtles,” said Chris Pincetich, Ph.D. with the Sea Turtle Restoration Project.

Methane still seeps in ongoing Gulf of Mexico oil horror story

In a technical comment document presented Thursday, marine scientist Dr. Samantha Joye and other experts argued that the odorless yet potent greenhouse gas, methane is still seeping into the Gulf of Mexico, contrary to study reports that a bacteria ate the methane in four months.
Continually asking, "Why?" has led Dr. Joye and her colleagues to now conclude that former research findings about success of the bacteria-eating methane, used in the Gulf after the catastrophic April 2010 deep sea oil rig explosion, are flawed: "ambiguous" and "unconvincing."
Joye's colleague experts include those from University of California, Santa Barbara; Florida State University; University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill; University of Washington, Seattle; US Naval Research Laboratory; Scripps Institution of Oceanography; and Leibniz Institute for Baltic Sea Research. (See: "Scientists doubt claims methane gone after BP spil," AFP)
Joye's report states that "samples from the control stations and the low-oxygen stations that were analyzed for unique genetic markers in the January 2011 study showed no significant difference in the abundance of methane consuming bacteria."
The former study also "neglected important factors that affect the transport and biodegradation of methane... (and) only provided a tentative match of the observational data."
"Methane is violently reactive with oxidizershalogens, and some halogen-containing compounds. Methane is also an asphyxiant and may displace oxygen in an enclosed space. Asphyxia may result.. The concentration of methane where asphyxiation risk becomes significant is much higher than the 5–15% concentration that forms flammable or explosive mixtures."
Methane off-gas can "penetrate buildings' interiors and expose occupants to significant levels of methane. According to NIDCD, medical complications/symptoms of exposure to methane (asphyxia) include:
  • dizziness
  • fatigue
  • nausea
  • headache
  • irregular breathing
"Exposure to extremely high levels of natural gas can cause loss of consciousness or even death." (NIDCD)
A gas detector can be one of the most important tools to help protect residents where methane might be leaking.

Blowout could spill 58 million gallons in Arctic

The federal agency overseeing offshore drilling in Alaska says the worst-case scenario for a blowout in the Chukchi Sea lease could result in a spill of more than 58 million gallons of oil into Arctic waters.
That's about a quarter of the Deepwater Horizon spill, which put 206 million gallons of oil into the Gulf of Mexico. But it's far more than Shell Oil — the major leaseholder in waters off Alaska's northwest coast — says it could handle under its current response plan.
When applying for exploratory permits, Shell was required to prepare for a maximum spill of 231,000 gallons per day. The company says its fleet of on-site responders — including boats, barges, skimmers, and a tanker that can hold 21 million gallons of recovered liquids — can handle a spill of 504,000 gallons per day.
But according to the memo prepared by the Alaska office of the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement, a worst-case scenario blowout could initially discharge about 2.6 million gallons per day.
Webmaster's Commentary:
Okay, let's keep this simple. Are there any oceans in the world we have NOT fucked up with oil or radioactivity to the point where we can no longer safely eat the food?

US Conoco Phillips' China Oil Spill Six Times Size of Singapore

A huge oil spill off the Chinese coast has now contaminated an area around six times the size of Singapore, state media reported Friday, as the government said it may seek compensation for the leak.

A Great Nothing Sweeps the Land

Deadly tornadoes, tsunamis, earthquakes, land hurricanes, random violent storms, flash floods, and radiation have swept the land. No longer is there a rock to hide under.
Now crabs, whales and other sea life are being found gathering in masse in Antarctica.
Could this be a bi-product of all the earth changes, the BP oils spill, or maybe the Fukushima reactor accident?
Science Daily recently reported the following in an article titled King Crabs Invade Antarctica;

“It’s like a scene out of a sci-fi movie — thousands, possibly millions, of king crabs are marching through icy, deep-sea waters and up the Antarctic slope.”

“They are coming from the deep, somewhere between 6,000 to 9,000 feet down,” said James McClintock, Ph.D., University of Alabama at Birmingham Endowed Professor of Polar and Marine Biology. [referring to thousands if not millions of crabs]
Shell-crushing crabs haven’t been in Antarctica, Earth’s southernmost continent, for hundreds or thousands, if not millions, of years, McClintock said. “They have trouble regulating magnesium ions in their body fluids and get kind of drunk at low temperatures.”
Much like the recent tornado outbreak in the Untied States, we are seeing very strange patterns in weather, nature, and even in modern man; but is there more to this mass migration to Antarctica?

Physorg.com recently reported in the article Record number of whales, krill found in Antarctic bays“;

“Scientists have observed a “super-aggregation” of more than 300 humpback whales gorging on the largest swarm of Antarctic krill seen in more than 20 years in bays along the Western Antarctic Peninsula.”

The sightings, made in waters still largely ice-free deep into austral autumn, suggest the previously little-studied bays are important late-season foraging grounds for the endangered whales. But they also highlight how rapid climate change is affecting the region.
The Duke University-led team tracked the super-aggregation of krill and whales during a six-week expedition to Wilhelmina Bay and surrounding waters in May 2009. They published their findings today (April 27) in the online science journalPLoS ONE.
“Such an incredibly dense aggregation of whales and krill has never been seen before in this area at this time of year,” says Duke marine biologist Douglas Nowacek. Most studies have focused on whale foraging habitats located in waters farther offshore in austral summer.
Whatever the case, these are defiantly interesting times to say the least.

Honeybees ‘entomb’ hives to protect against pesticides, say scientists

‘Entombed’ pollen is identified as having sunken, wax-covered cells amid ‘normal’, uncapped cells. photo: Journal of Invertebrate Pathology
Honeybees are taking emergency measures to protect their hives from pesticides, in an extraordinary example of the natural world adapting swiftly to our depredations, according to a prominent bee expert. Scientists have found numerous examples of a new phenomenon - bees “entombing” or sealing up hive cells full of pollen to put them out of use, and protect the rest of the hive from their contents. The pollen stored in the sealed-up cells has been found to contain dramatically higher levels of pesticides and other potentially harmful chemicals than the pollen stored in neighbouring cells, which is used to feed growing young bees.

BP Wants Thousands of Oil Spill Claims Tossed

NEW ORLEANS (CN) - A BP attorney told a federal judge Thursday that thousands of lawsuits for economic damages must be dismissed because they were filed before claimants tried to settle through BP's $20 billion Gulf Coast Claims Facility, administered by Kenneth Feinberg.
Oil spill defendants also claimed immunity from liability for the toxic dispersant Corexit, saying they simply made "decisions that should have been made by the United States government."

BP: Most Gulf Oil Spill Victims Should Not Get Any More Payouts

BP is arguing that most victims of last year's Gulf oil spill should not get any more payouts for future losses because the hardest-hit areas are recovering and the economy is growing.
The British oil company argues its case in a 29-page document made public Friday and filed with the Gulf Coast Claims Facility. The $20 billion fund is responsible for paying for damages from the spill.
Oh, really?!?
1. The oil and chemicals are still there, one year on.
As reported on 25 April, 2011 at:
http://www.scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=one-year-after-bp-oil-spill-millions-of-barrels-oil-missing
"NOAA testing found enough of the more than 1,000 different hydrocarbons in oil to keep areas closed to fishing until April 19 this year—almost exactly a year after the spill started. "Oil is still present," explains biologist Martin Bourgeois of the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries."
"It's not just the oil that persists, of course. At least one of the compounds in the 300 oil tankers worth of dispersants used to break up the spilled oil is still out there—dioctyl sulfosuccinate sodium salt, or DOSS, which is the active ingredient in COREXIT. "It didn't seem to be significantly degraded even through September," says chemical oceanographer Elizabeth Kujawinski of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, who studied its fate in water samples."
2. People are still sick from the toxic pollution in the Gulf.
As reported on 9 March 2011 at:

http://english.aljazeera.net/indepth/features/2011/03/201138152955897442.html
"BP's oil disaster last summer gushed at least 4.9 million barrels of oil into the Gulf of Mexico, causing the largest accidental marine oil spill in history - and the largest environmental disaster in US history. Compounding the problem, BP has admitted to using at least 1.9 million gallons toxic dispersants, including one chemical that has been banned in the UK.
According to chemist Bob Naman, these chemicals create an even more toxic substance when mixed with crude oil. Naman, who works at the Analytical Chemical Testing Lab in Mobile, Alabama, has been carrying out studies to search for the chemical markers of the dispersants BP used to both sink and break up its oil."
3. The spill has had long-term effects on the ecosystem, plants, marine life, and other wildlife.
As reported on 22 April, 201 at:
http://bpoilslick.blogspot.com/2011/04/bp-oil-spill-effects-still-being-seen.html
"Wathen, who just visited the coast last weekend, said right now, 99 percent of the Gulf is open for fishing and has supposedly tested safe for consumption, but the fishermen won’t eat their catch.
Wathen said the effects of the spill are still evident along the coast.
“There’s oil in the shrimp, there’s oil in the crabs,” Wathen said. “We’ve got dolphins washing up on our beaches in unprecedented numbers with unprecedented lesions on their skin. This is not normal.”
Doctors are also starting to see sick people with lesions on their skin, Wathen said. They are being treated for Staph infection, but the antibiotics aren’t working."

With Obama still in BP's pocket, this is a pre-election year scam, engineered to quietly throw the people who have hurt the most from something that was absolutely not their fault collectively under the bus of not paying at all fairly or equitably for the damage BP has caused.
And if the Gulf Coast Claims Facility lets BP get away with it, every single member of this organization who allows this to happen should be fired on the spot.

Court Rules US Taxpayers, Not BP Or Transocean, Are Liable For Gulf Oil Spill Clean Up Costs

US District court has dismissed over 100,000 lawsuits brought against BP And Transocean to pay for oil spill clean up costs and environmental damages caused to the Gulf of Mexico from the BP Gulf Oil Spill.
The court ruled that injury stopped the moment the well was sealed and the Federal Government, aka The US Taxpayer, is now liable for clean up costs along with any damages caused by deficiencies of the cleanup of the Gulf Of Mexico.

Former BP boss Tony Hayward set to pocket share of £410m windfall - a year after catastrophic Gulf of Mexico oil blast that killed 11

It has been just over a year since the Gulf of Mexico oil rig disaster - when 11 men were killed in a devastating blast.
But it must seem an age ago for the man who presided over the incident, who is set to get a share of a £410 million windfall after helping raise £1.3bn as part of a venture with financier Nat Rothschild.

Obama announces new oil drilling

WASHINGTON (AFP) - President Barack Obama, under pressure over high gasoline prices, Saturday committed to annual oil and gas lease sales in Alaska's National Petroleum Reserve and to speeding up production in other areas.
In his weekly radio and Internet address, the US leader admitted that one of the biggest burdens for US consumers in recent months had been the high price of gasoline -- which is more than four dollars a gallon in some areas.
"These spikes in gas prices are often temporary, and while there are no quick fixes to the problem, there are a few steps we should take that make good sense," Obama said...

US House Approves Bill Seeking To Speed Up Offshore Drilling Permits

The U.S. House of Representatives has voted to impose deadlines on the Obama administration to issue offshore drilling permits, as Republicans renewed calls for greater amounts of domestic oil production amid rising gasoline prices.
The House passed the legislation Wednesday, approving the second of three bills that seek to expand and speed up the pace of offshore oil and gas drilling.

WASHINGTON (AFP) - Washington announced on Friday it would resume the sale of offshore drilling licenses in the Gulf of Mexico, where the BP disaster 16 months ago unleashed the worst maritime oil spill in history...

BP Has Built An Artificial Island To Get Around Offshore Drilling Ban In Alaska

The offshore drilling moratorium that is falling apart in court already contains one major loophole -- and there's little surprise which company is threading the needle.
BP plans to begin drilling two miles under the sea just miles away from a delicate wildlife reserve in Alaska. The company will get around the deep-water moratorium by constructing an artificial island -- 31 acres of gravel -- and registering as an onshore rig. Not exactly the safest operation, reports Rolling Stone but Don't expect the White House to crack down on the loophole.

Flashback: DHS Hired Israeli Company To Spy On ANTI Gas Drilling Activists Whose Claims Are Now CONFIRMED!

Remember, Department of Homeland Security officials have hired foreign security companies to spy on activists who were actively exposing the connections between natural gas companies and flammable drinking water, a connection that has now been confirmed!
This is absolute proof that parts of our government work for the interests of the major multinational corporations.
On September 16th, 2011 we reported that anti gas drilling activists were put on a Pennsylvania intelligence bulletin as possible security threats.
NOW THE CONNECTION HAS BEEN CONFIRMED!!!
For the first time, a scientific study has linked natural gas drilling and hydraulic fracturing with a pattern of drinking water contamination so severe that some faucets can be lit on fire.

Exxon Makes $30.5 Billion, So GOP Votes Unanimously To Give Them Tax Breaks

Exxon Mobil is by far the most profitable company in the new Fortune 500 list, riding “high oil prices to a staggering $30 billion in income” in 2010. Exxon made over $10 billion more than fellow oil giant Chevron, the third most profitable company (AT&T edged out Chevron for the number two spot). ConocoPhillips’ $11.4 billion in profits put it in the 16th spot, giving the three oil giants a combined $60.9 billion in profits in 2010.
Today, the Republicans in the House of Representatives celebrated this massive redistribution of wealth from American families to oil executives. With the support of 7 oil-patch Democrats, 234 Republicans voted to block a bill to eliminate a $1.8 billion annual subsidy that treats oil drilling as “domestic manufacturing”

The Four Horsemen Behind America's Oil Wars

While Americans are robbed at the gas pump, Exxon Mobil will this week report a 60% increase in its quarterly net profits to a cool $10 billion. Royal Dutch/Shell will report a 30% increase.
In 1975 British writer Anthony Sampson penned The Seven Sisters, bestowing a collective name on a shadowy oil cartel, which throughout its history has sought to eliminate competitors and control the world’s oil resource. Sampson’s “Seven Sisters” name came from independent Italian oil man Enrico Mattei.

Exxon boosted profits up 69 percent from a year ago

The world's largest publicly traded company said today that higher oil prices boosted profits 69 percent from a year ago. The result was Exxon's best since earning a record $14.83 billion in 2008's third quarter.
Wall Street had been expecting sharply higher earnings for oil companies. Oil prices rose 17 percent in the quarter. But huge oil profits will aggravate drivers with gasoline prices averaging $3.89 per gallon nationally.

As radiation from Fukushima's nuclear plants melting down and radiation from the Gulf of Mexico's crude oil are contaminating Earth's life forms in unprecedented amounts, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is considering changing a 20-year mining ban protecting the Grand Canyon's entire one-million acre watershed so the area can be used for uranium mining: nuclear weapons and energy.

UN Calls for Population Control as Global Birthrates Decline

At a time when we are experiencing a worldwide decline in birthrates, and many countries find themselves in a demographic crisis that will leave their nations in economic and social ruin if something doesn’t change, the United Nations Populations Fund (UNFPA) continues to call for more population control.
Last week the Population Division of the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs released a projection that the world population will reach 7 billion on October 31 of this year. The UNFPA used this as an opportunity to call[1] for more family planning services in order to decrease fertility rates worldwide. This is a not so subtle call for more population control.
The call for population control is a false alarm. Birthrates are already dropping worldwide. Many countries have fertility rates that are well below replacement rate.
In order to maintain a steady population that does not increase and does not decrease, a country must have a fertility rate of 2.1. This is the replacement rate.  If each woman has an average of 2.1 children, she will replace herself and a man, and allow for the occasion in which some children will not make it to maturity in order to replace themselves. A fertility rate below 2.1 children per woman means that a country will not replace itself.
Russia is a perfect example of this. Today Russia’s population is disappearing. From 1985 to 1990, Russia had a fertility rate that just met replacement, 2.12 children per woman. Russia’s fertility rate dropped drastically from 2005 to 2010, to 1.44 children per woman.[2] Similarly, Russia’s total population has decreased from 148,244,000 people in 1990, to 142,958,000 in 2010.[3] That is a decrease of 5,268,000 people in 20 years. A significant factor is Russia’s declining birthrate is abortion. An unofficial estimate signifies that there are 4 million abortions a year in Russia as compared to only 1.7 million live births. [4]
The demographic crisis in Russia has prompted Prime Minister Valdimir Putin to say,
“Without exaggeration, the central problem of contemporary Russia is demography, strengthening the family, [and] increasing the birth rate.”[5]
Russia is not the only country with a fertility rate that is below replacement. Most of Europe is suffering from this demographic crisis. Italy, Spain, Germany, and Portugal and others had fertility rates close to 1.4 children per woman from 2005 to 2010.[6] Furthermore, worldwide fertility rates have dropped by nearly 50% since 1950.[7]
