Spin

Using the 1992 presidential election as his springboard, documentary filmmaker Brian Springer captures the behind-the-scenes maneuverings ... all of politicians and newscasters in the early 1990s. Pat Robertson banters about "homos," Al Gore learns how to avoid abortion questions, George Bush talks to Larry King about halcyon -- all presuming they're off camera. Composed of 100% unauthorized satellite footage, Spin is a surreal expose of media-constructed reality.

FOX NEWS INTERNAL MEMO: "Be On The Lookout For Any Statements From The Iraqi Insurgents...Thrilled At The Prospect Of A Dem Controlled Congress"...

'NY Times' Finally Publishes Op-Ed 'Redacted' by C.I.A.

For days, it was an open secret that The New York Times was holding an Op-Ed piece after the Central Intelligence Agency objected to publication of parts of it. It's written by Flynt Leverett, a former senior director for Middle East affairs at the National Security Council. and Hillary Mann, a former Foreign Service officer.

The Times finally published it Friday -- with sections literally blacked out.

CNN editors pull Palestinian quotes, replace with US

CNN Exposed Review: CNN adds Palestinian remarks to US veto story, two days later

Actually, this article is slightly inaccurate. CNN originally did have Palestinian remarks about the US veto of the UN resolution against Israel, then dumped them for remarks by Bolton and by Israel's ambassador (but I repeat myself). CNN got called on that bias, so here we are two days later and the remarks by the Palestinians have been put back in. M.Rivero WRH

The Media's Bloody Footprints

"It was premeditated slaughter in every sense of the word. The Marines came in and they killed everyone inside." Khalid Ahmed Rsayef; Haditha eyewitness

Western media is the bullhorn for the political establishment. Its message is crafted to reflect the objectives of elites and defend the interests of ownership. The recent coverage of the massacre in Haditha doesn’t change the media’s essential purpose. It’s still a fully-vested partner in the corporate mechanism.

Violent video game effects linger in brain: study

Video Game Violence Goes Straight to Kids' Heads

Violent video games alter brain activity

Use of Video Games by the Military

  • "The shots of bombs and burning cars do hint at a faceless, nameless enemy with no political motivation —`evil,' if you will. This fits the emotional melodramatics of a video game where the villains deserve to die, end of story."

In the United States, the military has long understood the power of video games as a recruitment tool. In 2004, the U.S. Army followed that path to a logical conclusion and produced its own video game. The action shooter, entitled America's Army, was such a success with teenagers, the army hosted a tournament in New York City that year. Recruiters, naturally, were waiting outside.

Then again, why spend the time and money to develop a video game promoting military values when game
designers are already doing it for you? Since the early days of GI Joe and Combat, they've catered to a lucrative niche of young people willing to don a virtual rifle and fight for freedom. Technological leaps have ratcheted up the realism over the years, with the weapons, goons and gore becoming ever more lifelike. Of course, soldiers aren't always fighting terrorists, rescuing hostages and airlifting forest fire victims.

Blair And Bushs Latest Weapon Of War: YouTube

THE WHITE House and Downing Street have signalled they intend to open up a new propaganda war by encouraging frontline soldiers to post positive video news stories about the Iraq occupation on internet websites.

Blair said that gruesome images showing the "reality of war" were being used as a propaganda weapon by insurgents to influence public opinion that ultimately impacts on the morale of the armed forces.

Memo to Tony Blair; in case you had missed this in some of your history classes, war IS gruesome, by its very definition: it's about killing and maiming as many enemies as possible until they do what you want them to, apparently by "any means necessary" these days (including depleted uranium, as is happening in Iraq and Afghanistan).

There IS no pretty, lovely, sanitary war, because war is simply an espression of foreign policy, writ large with blood, death, and maiming. M.Rivero WRH

Now Daddy Bush Slams Bloggers

Blames Internet for "ugly climate," echoes vitriolic rhetoric of web haters

Mainstream Media to Bloggers: Bug Off.

As the establishment sees it, millions of pajama clad amateurs are sitting at home pounding their keyboards and then uploading their uninformed, unedited and unrefined streams of consciousness, while print media circulation and TV News ratings continue to fall.

Attention MSM: It really comes down to two simple questions.

1. Who told the American people that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction, mainstream media, or blogs?

2. Who told the American people that the claim that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction was a bald-faced lie, mainstream media, or blogs?

When you honestly answer those questions, then you will understand why your readers are now our readers. M.Rivero WRH

Iran defies United Nations with pledge of 'going nuclear within weeks'

Posted Dec 22, 2006 07:10 PM PST
Category: MAINSTREAM MEDIA

I posted this under mainstream media because this is a typical example of the propaganda that is being sold as news by the Telegraph.

What Iran has announced they plan to do is ... turn on the electric lights. Iran's nuclear programme is building a power station. Actually, the Russians are building it for them. The IAEA which has full access to Iran's nuclear facilities confirms the work is about building a power station and no indications of a weapons program anywhere to be found. Of course, Israel won;t believe that because Israel managed to conceal a weapons plant underneath their reactor at Dimona, and Israel will never admit that other nations do not behave the way Israel does. Hence, if Israel does it, Iran must be assumed to be doing the same.

Meanwhile,m this article, not content with again blurring the line between a nuclear power station (which Iran is legally entitled to have under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty) and nuclear weapons, ends with the claim that Ahmadinejad has said Israel should be "wiped off the map". In point of fact, Ahmadinejad has never actually said that, despite the use of the quote marks by the Telegraph. What Ahmadinejad said was that Israel will pass from the pages of history, a passive statement and one founded on Gandhi's observation that tyrants, no matter how strong they may appear, always fall.

The telegraph should be ashamed of such bald-faced propaganda, but then, I suspect the Telegraph has no shame at all. M.Rivero WRH

'Al-Qaeda' is a Manufactured Intelligence Front

"Ana raicha Al Qaeda" is colloquial for "I'm going to the toilet". A very common and widespread use of the word “Al-Qaeda” in different Arab countries in the public language is for the toilet bowl. This name comes from the Arabic verb “Qa'ada” which mean “to sit”, pertinently, on the “Toilet Bowl”. In most Arabs homes there are two kinds of toilets: “Al-Qaeda” also called the "Hamam Franji" or foreign toilet, and "Hamam Arabi" or “Arab toilet” which is a hole in the ground. Lest we forget it, the potty used by small children is called "Ma Qa'adia" or "Little Qaeda".

"Hello, I am from 'The Toilet" and I am here to hijack your airplane and fly it into a building. Please fasten your seat belts and return your seat backs and trays to their full upright position. Thank you. Have some peanuts." M.Rivero WRH
