U.S. Currently Fighting 74 Different Wars … That It Will Publicly Admit

Washingtons Blog
May 12, 2013
Fire Dog Lake’s Kevin Gosztola notes:
Today US military operations are involved in scores of countries across all the five continents. The US military is the world’s largest landlord, with significant military facilities in nations around the world, and with a significant presence in Bahrain, Djibouti, Turkey, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Iraq, Afghanistan, Kosovo, and Kyrgyzstan, in addition to long-established bases in Germany, Japan, South Korea, Italy, and the UK.  Some of these are vast, such as the Al Udeid Air Force Base in Qatar, the forward headquarters of the United States Central Command, which has recently been expanded to accommodate up to 10,000 troops and 120 aircraft.
Citing a page at US Central Command’s (CENTCOM) website, they highlight the “areas of responsibility” publicly listed:
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) is active in 20 countries across the Middle Eastern region, and is actively ramping-up military training, counterterrorism programs, logistical support, and funding to the military in various nations. At this point, the US has some kind of military presence in Afghanistan, Bahrain, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, U.A.E., Uzbekistan, and Yemen.
US Africa Command (AFRICOM), according to the paper, “supports military-to-military relationships with 54 African nations.”
[Gosztola points out that the U.S. military is also conducting operations of one kind or another in Syrian, Jordan, South Sudan, Kosovo, Libya, Yemen, the Congo, Uganda, Mali, Niger and other countries.]
Altogether, that makes 74 nations where the US is fighting or “helping” some force in some proxy struggle that has been deemed beneficial by the nation’s masters of war.
***
A Congressional Research Service (CRS) provides an accounting of all the publicly acknowledged deployments of US military forces
But those are just the public operations.
Gosztola notes that the covert operations are uncountable:
Beyond that, there are Special Operations forces in countries. Jeremy Scahill in Dirty Wars: The World is a Battlefield, writes, “By mid-2010, the Obama administration had increased the presence of Special Operations forces from sixty countries to seventy-five countries.
***
Scahill also reports, based on his own “well-placed special operations sources”:
…[A]mong the countries where [Joint Special Operations Command] teams had been deployed under the Obama administration were: Iran, Georgia, Ukraine, Bolivia, Paraguay, Ecuador, Peru, Yemen, Pakistan (including in Baluchistan) and the Philippines. These teams also at times deployed in Turkey, Belgium, France and Spain. JSOC was also supporting US Drug Enforcement Agency operations in Colombia and Mexico
Since President Barack Obama has been willing to give the go ahead to operations that President George W. Bush would not have approved, operations have been much more aggressive and, presumably, JSOC has been able to fan out and work in way more countries than ever expected.
Global assassinations have been embraced by the current administration, opening the door to night raids, drone strikes, missile attacks where cluster bombs are used, etc. Each of these operations, as witnessed or experienced by the civilian populations of countries, potentially inflame and increase the number of areas in the world where there are conflict zones.
***
The world is literally a battlefield with conflicts being waged by the US (or with the “help” of the US). And, no country is off-limits to US military forces.
Of course, JSOC is not accountable to Congress … let alone the public:
JSOC operates outside the confines of the traditional military and even beyond what the CIA is able to do.
***
But it goes well beyond the war zones. In concert with the Executive’s new claims on extra-judicial assassinations via drone strikes, even if the target is an American citizen, JSOC goes around the world murdering suspects without the oversight of a judge or, god forbid, granting those unfortunate souls the right to defend themselves in court against secret, evidence-less government decrees about their guilt. As Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Seymour Hersh said at a speaking event in 2009:
Congress has no oversight of it. It’s an executive assassination ring essentially, and it’s been going on and on and on.
***
There are legal restrictions on what the CIA can do in terms of covert operations. There has to be a finding, the president has to notify at least the “Gang of Eight” [leaders of the intelligence oversight committees] in Congress. JSOC doesn’t have to do any of that. There is very little accountability for their actions. What’s weird is that many in congress who’d be very sensitive to CIA operations almost treat JSOC as an entity that doesn’t have to submit to oversight. It’s almost like this is the president’s private army, we’ll let the president do what he needs to do.

Global Research, May 05, 2013
Fars News Agency 5 May 2013
It has been disclosed that Israel has used depleted uranium in its recent missile attacks on a suburban Damascus area.
The first missile which hit Jamraya near al-Haviyeh in Reef (outskirts of) Damascus contained uranium substances, a correspondent of Russian television quoted some local sources as saying.
Other media outlets had also earlier released similar reports on Israel’s use of radioactive materials in attacks on Syria.
Explosions shook Damascus early on Sunday and Syrian state television said Israeli rockets had struck a military research center on the outskirts of the capital.
The blasts occurred a day after an Israeli official said Tel Aviv had carried out an air strike targeting a consignment of missiles in Syria. The research center hit on Sunday was also targeted by Israel in January.
“The new Israeli attack is an attempt to raise the morale of the terrorist groups which have been reeling from strikes by our noble army,” Syrian television said, referring to recent offensives by President Bashar al-Assad’s forces against rebels.
There was no immediate comment from Israeli officials on Sunday’s explosions.
Late in January, the Syrian Army said in a statement that two people were killed and five others injured in an Israeli air strike on a scientific center in Jamraya, 25 kilometers (15 miles) Northwest of the capital Damascus.

Syria Rebels Join Assad In Condemning Israel Airstrikes

Excerpted from CBS News: The Syrian regime and opposition forces found one thing to agree on, albeit for different reasons: The both condemned Israel for carrying out two airstrikes in the Middle Eastern country over the past 48 hours, a major escalation of Israeli involvement in the Syrian civil war.
Israel rushed to beef up its rocket defenses on its northern border Sunday to shield against possible retaliation from both Syria and its patron Iran. Although Syria and Iran hinted at possible retribution, the rhetoric in official statements appeared relatively muted.
Syrian opposition forces also spoke out against the airstrike in a press statement, saying it hurt their efforts to take down the regime of Bashar Assad.
“The Syrian Coalition is suspicious of the timing of this attack,” the statement said. “These strikes have given the regime the necessary time to draw attention away from its crimes and massacres on the Syrian coast. It is not unlikely that as a result of these attacks, and world distraction, more crimes will be committed.”

'Syrian hackers' break into Associated Press' Twitter account and 'break news' that explosions at White House have injured Obama - sending DOW Jones plunging 100 points

A group of Syrian hackers have claimed responsibility for tweeting a false report by the Associated Press of explosions at the White House which plunged the DOW Jones Industrial average more than 100 points and the Standard & Poor's 500 to lose $136.5 billion.
"We hacked you. We're Syrians (honest). Come and get us you schmucks, er, ummm, I mean, you infidels!"

Israel Says Syria Has Used Chemical Weapons

Israel’s senior military intelligence analyst said Tuesday there was evidence the Syrian government had repeatedly used chemical weapons in the last month, and he criticized the international community for failing to respond, intensifying pressure on the Obama administration to intervene.
“The regime has increasingly used chemical weapons,” said Brig. Gen. Itai Brun, research commander in the intelligence directorate of the Israeli Defense Forces, echoing assertions made by Britain and France. “The very fact that they have used chemical weapons without any appropriate reaction,” he added, “is a very worrying development, because it might signal that this is legitimate.”
"Evidence"?!?!?
Where precisely, Brigadier General Brun, is your "evidence"?!?
Because if you really had physical evidence of such attacks, you would be sharing it with the world right now; but of course, you don't, which is why the accusations against the Syrian government grow more and more shrill, in an attempt to pressure the US government and military to intervene directly and overtly.
And Brigadier General Brun, I have a question for you, and would appreciate your answer; if the US overtly intervenes in Syria, what will Russia do to stop it?!?

Report: U.S. Government and NATO Worked with Bin Laden and His Top Lieutenant 3 Months AFTER 9/11

Former FBI translator Sibel Edmonds has been deemed credible by the Department of Justice’s Inspector General, several senators (free subscription required), and a coalition of prominent conservative and liberal groups.
The ACLU described Edmonds as:
The most gagged person in the history of the United States of America.
And famed Pentagon Papers whistleblower Daniel Ellsberg says that Edmonds possesses information “far more explosive than the Pentagon Papers”.
Edmonds translated terror-related communications for the FBI right after 9/11. In that capacity, she read communications between terrorists and other radicals.

Italy should use its gold reserves to force a change in EMU policy

The World Gold Council has advised Italy to deploy its 2,000 tonnes of gold to break free of EMU austerity dictates.
By using the reserves – the world's fourth largest – to collateralise the first chunk of any losses for bondholders, Italy could raise €400bn or so on the capital markets and determine its own future for a while.
Italy did this in 1974 when it borrowed $2bn from the Bundesbank, using gold as collateral.

Fresh ExxonMobil pipeline spill hits Missouri

While questions over the severity of ExxonMobil’s March 29 oil spill in Mayflower, Arkansas still remain, the same pipeline has now ruptured, this time to the north, in Missouri.
The 70-year-old Pegasus pipeline, which released thousands of barrels of tar sands oil in Arkansas, has now caused another, albeit far smaller incident in Ripley County, Missouri, 200 miles north of Mayflower, Arkansas.

Financial Collapse - Is Bernanke Preparing to Jump Ship?

There is little if any point in trying to trade this week (at least until Thursday). The Fed is notorious for leaking info to the well-connected. The most recent “accidental” sending of a report a day early is just the latest example.
In simple terms, the market will be even more of an insider’s game today and tomorrow than usual. No point trying to open a new position in that window.
However, against this backdrop the big picture for the markets is growing worse and worse.
However, there are clear signs we’re heading back into recessionary territory. I think the first quarter 2013 GDP growth print is the best we’ll see all year. And it’s very possibly things will get ugly before the year ends.
Speaking of which…
Ben Bernanke has announced he won’t be attending this year’s Jackson Hole meeting. A Jackson Hole meeting without the Fed Chairman is like having a performance of Hamlet without Hamlet himself in it. Why would the single most important Central Banker not attend one of the biggest economic meetings of the year?
He claims it’s due to scheduling conflicts. As if he didn’t know about this meeting in advance.
The fact is Bernanke is likely going to step down at the end of this term in January 2014… which means the markets will be losing one of their biggest props, the famed Bernanke Put.
God help whoever fills the role in the future. Assuming things hold together until next year (a BIG assumption) the new Fed Chairman will be inheriting one of the worst messes in history.
Investors take note, the markets are sending multiple signals that things are not going well in the world. Companies based on the real economy are dropping hard.

U.S. Seeks to Get Rid of Left Governments in Latin America

Recent events indicate that the Obama administration has stepped up its strategy of “regime change” against the left-of-center governments in Latin America, promoting conflict in ways not seen since the military coup that Washington supported in Venezuela in 2002. The most high-profile example is in Venezuela itself, during the past week. As this goes to press, Washington has grown increasingly isolated in its efforts to destabilize the newly elected government of Nicolas Maduro.
But Venezuela is not the only country to fall prey to Washington’s efforts to reverse the electoral results of the past 15 years in Latin America. It is now clear that last year’s ouster of President Fernando Lugo of Paraguay was also aided and abetted by the United States government. In a brilliant investigative work for Agência Pública, journalist Natalia Viana shows that the Obama administration funded the principal actors involved in the “parliamentary coup” against Lugo. Washington then helped organize international support for coup.
The U.S. role in Paraguay is similar to its role in the military overthrow of democratically elected President Manuel Zelaya of Honduras in 2009, where Washington hijacked the Organization of American States (OAS) and used it to fight the efforts of South American governments who wanted to restore democracy. Zelaya later testified that Washington was also involved in the coup itself.

According to the FBI, Jewish extremists commit more terror than Islamic extremists!

Terrorism Is a Real Threat … But the Threat to the U.S. from Muslim Terrorists Has Been Exaggerated
An FBI report shows that only a small percentage of terrorist attacks carried out on U.S. soil between 1980 and 2005 were perpetrated by Muslims.
According to this data, there were more Jewish acts of terrorism within the United States than Islamic (7% vs 6%). These radical Jews committed acts of terrorism in the name of their religion. These were not terrorists who happened to be Jews; rather, they were extremist Jews who committed acts of terrorism based on their religious passions, just like Al-Qaeda and company.
(Loon Watch also notes that less than 1% of terror attacks in Europe were carried out by Muslims.)
http://whatreallyhappened.com/IMAGES/piechart2.jpg
So let me see if I have this right. 6% of all acts of terror are by Muslims (or someone pretending to be Muslims) and the US Government wants total surveillance on them all. 42% of all acts of terror are committed by Latinos, and the US Government wants to make them all legal citizens?

‘Iran already past nuclear red line,’ expert says

Speaking at a security conference in Tel Aviv, Yadlin said that “for all intents and purposes, Iran has crossed Israel’s red line… in the summer, Iran will be a month or two away from deciding about a bomb.”
1992: Israeli Foreign Minister Shimon Peres tells French TV that Iran was set to have nuclear warheads by 1999.
1992: Joseph Alpher, a former official of Israel’s Mossad spy agency, says “Iran has to be identified as Enemy No. 1.” Iran’s nascent nuclear program, he told The New York Times, “really gives Israel the jitters.”
1992: Israeli parliamentarian Benjamin Netanyahu tells his colleagues that Iran is 3 to 5 years from being able to produce a nuclear weapon.
1995: The New York Times reports that US and Israeli officials fear “Iran is much closer to producing nuclear weapons than previously thought” – less than five years away. Netanyahu claims the time frame is three to five years.
1996: Israeli Prime Minister Shimon Peres claims Iran will have nuclear weapons in four years.
1998: Former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld claims Iran could build an ICBM capable of reaching the US within five years.
1999: An Israeli military official claims that Iran will have a nuclear weapon within five years.
2001: The Israeli Minister of Defence claims that Iran will be ready to launch a nuclear weapon in less than four years.
2002: The CIA warns that the danger of nuclear weapons from Iran is higher than during the Cold War, because its missile capability has grown more quickly than expected since 2000 – putting it on par with North Korea.
2003: A high-ranking Israeli military officer tells the Knesset that Iran will have the bomb by 2005 — 17 months away.
2006: A State Department official claims that Iran may be capable of building a nuclear weapon in 16 days.
2008: An Israeli general tells the Cabinet that Iran is “half-way” to enriching enough uranium to build a nuclear weapon and will have a working weapon no later than the end of 2010.
2009: Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak estimates that Iran is 6-18 months away from building an operative nuclear weapon.
2010: Israeli decision-makers believe that Iran is at most 1-3 years away from being able to assemble a nuclear weapon.
2011: IAEA report indicates that Iran could build a nuclear weapon within months.
2013: Israeli intelligence officials claim that Iran could have the bomb by 2015 or 2016.

US-Canada Claim Iran-Al Qaeda Ties Despite US Funding Al Qaeda in Iran for Years

As the FBI reels from what now appears to be revelations it was directly involved in the Boston Marathon bombings, a deluge of FBI “success” stories have been “serendipitously” splashed across Western headlines. Among them was an allegedly “foiled” terror attack in Canada, reported to be the work of terrorists supported by “Al-Qaeda operatives in Iran.” The Globe and Mail, in its report, “Canada joins U.S. in alleging al-Qaeda has operatives based in Iran,” states:

Eurozone Debt Levels Reach Record High - Eurostat

Eurozone government debt levels reached the highest level on record last year, the region's official statistics office said, even as austerity measures around the single currency area narrowed budget deficits levels amid a deepening recession.
Government debt as a percentage of the eurozone economy 3.3 percentage points to 90.6 percent at the end of last year, Eurostat said Monday in a statement published on its website. At the same time the collective budget deficit of the 17 countries that use the single currency fell to 3.7 percent of Eurozone GDP from 4.2 percent the previous year, Eurostat said. Around the 27-memeber European Union, which includes Great Britain, the figures fall to 85.3 percent and 4 percent respectively.

BRICS:The Coming Challenge to U.S. Economic Dominance

Late last month, leaders from Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa – the so-called BRICS – announced they were forming their own development bank to assist other emerging economies. The yet-to-be-named bank is expected to compete with the World Bank and the International Monetary fund, two institutions with power structures based firmly in the United States and Europe.
The announcement also serves as yet another sign that the world economy is quickly evolving to a place where United States global economic dominance is being challenged by regional interests. Since the end of World War II, the United States was the driver of global monetary policy. When the Federal Reserve acted, the world listened and reacted.

US Mint Halts Sales, Depletes Inventory Of One-Tenth Ounce Gold Coins

Today, we learn that, as expected, none other than the US Mint has officially run out of small denomination gold coins, in this case One-Tenth ounce American Eagle gold bullion coins. We are confident this incontrovertible proof of soaring retail demand for physical will somehow result in JPM or another bullion bank dumping a few extra thousands ounces of paper/electronic gold or silver to further disconnect the paper price from what is actually going on with physical demand. As for the US Mint, first it's fractions of an ounce: look forward to the mint running out of all bullion denominations in the coming days and week, first in gold, then in silver as well.

VIRTUAL 9-11: Will the US & Israel Hack The US Banking System Computers and Falsely Blame It On Iran (or Syria or Russia or China)?

So what it looks like is being planned, and pre-sold to the American people with all these stories about celebrities' personal information being hacked and made public (an activity that produces no profit for the hackers other than news headlines), and the "Syrian" (nudge nudge wink wink) hack of the AP Twitter feed that shocked the US stock market, is that the US Government will itself take down the US financial computers, and blame it on Iran /Russia/ China/Al Qaeda/Syria/Arabs and others to be named as convenient. This gets Wall Street and Washington DC off the hook, because now the financial melt-down is an act of war, rather than the result of decades of Wall Street crime and corruption and the predations of Private Central Banks. US banks have already been hit with cyber attacks over the last two weeks, to set the stage.

Boston - Picture of the day

The entire case against the Tsarnaev brothers is that they were seen wearing backpacks, then seen not with backpacks. The remains of the backpacks with the bombs are black, the backpack worn by the younger brother is white. The remains of the backpack that held one of the bombs is identical to one seen being worn by one of the "black and tan" operatives at the scene. And photos after the bomb blast show him without the backpack. So why isn't this man being arrested and questioned?
http://whatreallyhappened.com/IMAGES/SMALL_bgackpackman.jpg

User Prediction Made before the Events Happened

http://whatreallyhappened.com/IMAGES/wRTiCiG.jpg
The official story is that both bombs were in black backpacks, but as the above photo shows, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev's backpack was white.

As Boston reeled, younger bombing suspect partied

As the world hunted him, the younger brother suspected in the Boston Marathon bombings acted like any other college sophomore.
Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19, was on the campus of University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth every day after the attack until late Thursday, a university official told CNN. Tsarnaev attended classes and dorm parties and went to the gym while the rest of Boston came to a tense standstill.
A student at the school told The Boston Globe that she saw Tsarnaev at a party Wednesday night that was attended by some of his friends from intramural soccer.
"He was just relaxed," she said, asking the paper not to print her name.
In other words, not acting like he was guilty of anything or had any reason to suspect the authorities were after him.

LOOK! Proof That Craft or Blackwater Agents did the Boston Marathon Bombing Event!

In this video i show you how the Media suspect that is still alive and captured , Left the event WITH HIS BACKPACK ! BUT ……Their Craft aka Blackwater Agent was caught running out of the scene ..WITHOUT HIS BACKPACK ….The one that matches the Bomb Backpack PERFECTLY !!

Who is this Guy!

This guy was lugging this backpack with the gray stripe on it all over the area of the bombings. After the bombings he and a couple of his younger darker buddies were missing their packs. This guys' pack matches. There seems to have been this guy and several others in civilian clothes along with the paramilitary guys. Where ever this guy showed up a couple of the darker younger men would be nearby along with a late middle aged woman. There are a lot of pics of this guy and the black pack with gray stripe at least there used to be. I'm having trouble finding them now!

Summary of 'white backpack defense' of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev

Top investigator says both bomb containers were black nylon and the photo of blasted pieces of of the backpack that contained the second bomb is black -- so why is Dzhokhar Tsarnaev even suspected since his bag was white as seen in several pictures.
We were given only one photo of "Suspect 1" and "Suspect 2", a photo in which Dzhokhar Tsarnaev's backpack is not clearly seen and identifyable as white.

Source: 2011 slayings of Tamerlan Tsarnaev's friend, 2 others revisited

The slaying of one of Tamerlan Tsarnaev's best friends in September 2011 is now being reviewed by a "wider group of eyes,"a source close to the Boston bombing investigation tells CNN.
The stark contrast between Tamerlan Tsarnaev's personal life, star student, star athlete, potential Olympian, and the crimes he is being framed for, have proven an embarrassment for government propagandists. So now they are struggling to find anything that can be used to "rebrand" Tamerlan Tsarnaev as an uber-villain that
plausibly could have committed the Boston Bombing. The headline proclaims the suspicion he was involved with a drug-related slaying back in 2011 (the same year the FBI investigated Tamerlan Tsarnaev at the request of a foreign government and found nothing suspicious about him) based solely on the fact he knew one of the victims.

Now, given the high rate of crime and murder in this nation, I would expect many of our readers have at some time in their life known someone who was murdered. I do. I worked with former Playmate of the Year Dorothy Stratten in two films, Skatetown USA and Galaxina. That does not mean I had anything to do with her murder.
Knowing someone who was murdered does not in and of itself constitute grounds for suspicion. This is another pathetic reach by the propagandists to prop up a rapidly crumbling official story.

U.S. Attorney Dismisses Case Against Initial Ricin Suspect

The United States Attorney has dismissed "without prejudice" all charges against Paul Kevin Curtis, the man initially identified as a suspect after letters that tested positive for ricin were mailed to President Barack Obama and other officials.

Analysis Finds 55% Ground Beef, 39% Chicken Contaminated with Superbugs

Would you still eat that turkey burger if you knew it contained antibiotic resistant bacteria? Maybe not. But if you eat turkey, there’s a good chance you are ingesting some of these potentially lethal “super bugs”. The same holds true for beef, chicken, and pork, according to a recent analysis from the Environmental Working Group.
The EWG analyzed tests recently released from the federal government, and what they found was that a great deal of American meat is contaminated with antibiotic-resistant bacteria. More specifically, the EWG found the following contamination levels:
81% of raw ground turkey
69% of pork chops
55% of raw ground beef
39% of raw chicken

If you are still a meat-eater (and at this household, we still are, to some degree), know where your meat comes from. Ask the meat manager at your market or big box store how much antibiotics are given to the turkeys, chickens, pigs, and beef you eat. IF they do not know, ask them to please find out. IF you can find an organic source of meat, so much the better. Some of the big box stores are offering chicken which has not been treated with antibiotics or growth hormones, so there is some positive news here.
IF you can go more vegetarian, as long as the veggies are not GMO, this may be helpful.
Unfortunately, however, one of the main staples of a vegetarian diet, beans, is a problem for gout sufferers, because any kind of legume can potentially cause gout flares; the same is true for mushrooms and asparagus.

Scientists Discover Bt Toxins Found In Monsanto Crops Damage Red Blood Cells

Studies are showing that Bt toxins found in Monsanto crops are harmful to mammalian blood by damaging red blood cells and more. RBC’s are responsible for delivering oxygen to the body tissues through blood flow.
Bacillus thuringensis (Bt) is a bacterium commonly used as a biological pesticide. It is a microorganism that produces toxic chemicals. It occurs naturally in the environment, and is usually isolated from soil, insects and plant surfaces. Prior to this study, Bt was thought to be toxic only to insects, but recent studies are proving otherwise.

Marijuana And Cancer: Scientists Find Cannabis Compound Stops Metastasis In Aggressive Cancers

A pair of scientists at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco has found that a compound derived from marijuana could stop metastasis in many kinds of aggressive cancer, potentially altering the fatality of the disease forever.

Curcumin and Cancer Prevention and Treatment

There is an emerging body of data suggesting a role for curcumin in cancer prevention and as an element of cancer treatment. Curcumin, derived from the Indian spice turmeric, blocks nuclear factor-kappa B(NF-kB), and thus reduces levels of inflammatory cytokines in the body. Curcumin also interferes with the formation of advanced glycation end products, compounds which trigger inflammation and may increase the risk of cancerous mutations in cells. Curcumin regulates tumor suppressor pathways, increasing the death of cancer cells, and also interferes with several mechanisms responsible for tumor invasiveness. Cell culture data suggest that curcumin has anti-cancer effects in breast cancer, cervical cancer, prostate cancer, and colon cancer. The best available data indicates that curcumin acts in synergy with prescription cancer chemotherapy. Optimal dosage is uncertain – doses as high as 3600 mg

The Data is Very Strong: Marijuana Plant Extract Stops Cancers From Spreading

The data is very strong and there’s no toxicity associated with A compound found in cannabis could halt the spread of many forms of aggressive cancer, scientists say.
The first research to show marijuana’s anti-tumor properties was presented at the American Association for Cancer Research meeting in Los Angeles in 2007 demonstrating that THC may activate biological pathways that halt cancer cell division or block development of blood vessels that feed tumors. It then became a target of synthetic research into THC for drugs such as ImClone System Inc.’s Erbitux and Amgen Inc.’s Vectibix.

Cancer drug Avastin linked to 2 cases of flesh-eating disease: Health Canada

Health Canada is warning that the cancer drug Avastin has been linked in rare cases to necrotizing fasciitis, the fast-moving bacterial infection also known as flesh-eating disease.
Two Canadians taking Avastin developed necrotizing fasciitis and one of them died, the federal department said Thursday in a warning issued in conjunction with the drug's manufacturer, Hoffmann-La Roche Ltd.

Teenagers' favourite lipsticks are 'laced with toxic metals': Popular colours and glosses 'contain substances linked to cancer'

Many popular lipsticks and glosses are laced with toxic metals, a study found.
Use of some of the cosmetics could lead to girls and women unwittingly exposing themselves to potentially dangerous levels of chromium – a chemical that can cause lung cancer and has been linked to stomach cancer.
The researchers also warned those who frequently applied some of colours and glosses could take in ‘troubling’ amounts of aluminium and manganese.
Some studies have linked aluminium to Alzheimer’s disease, while there are concerns that manganese can cause mood swings and problems with memory and co-ordination.

Sugar industry's secret documents echo tobacco tactics

"The first folder that I opened jumped right out at me," she said. "It was on the Sugar Association letterhead which is the trade association in Washington for cane and beet sugar producers. And the word "confidential" was right under the letterhead. So the first document I saw was a confidential Sugar Association memo talking about their PR strategies in the 70s."
What Couzens found was something food industry critics have been seeking for years — documents suggesting that the sugar industry used Big Tobacco tactics to deflect growing concern over the health effects of sugar.

Big Pharma Criminality no Longer a Conspiracy Theory: Bribery, Fraud, Price Fixing now a matter of public record

Those of us who have long been describing the pharmaceutical industry as a "criminal racket" over the last few years have been wholly vindicated by recent news. Drug and vaccine manufacturer Merck was caught red-handed by two of its own scientists faking vaccine efficacy data by spiking blood samples with animal antibodies. GlaxoSmithKline has just been fined a whopping $3 billion for bribing doctors, lying to the FDA, hiding clinical trial data and fraudulent marketing. Pfizer, meanwhile has been sued by the nation's pharmacy retailers for what is alleged as an "overarching anticompetitive scheme" to keep generic cholesterol drugs off the market and thereby boost its own profits.
The picture that's emerging is one of a criminal drug industry that has turned to mafia tactics in the absence of any real science that would prove their products to be safe or effective.

FDA secretly retests 100 different drugs after testing company admits its work was all fraudulent

On the morning of May 3, 2010, three agents of the Food and Drug Administration descended upon the Houston office of Cetero Research, a firm that conducted research for drug companies worldwide.
Lead agent Patrick Stone, now retired from the FDA, had visited the Houston lab many times over the previous decade for routine inspections. This time was different. His team was there to investigate a former employee’s allegation that the company had tampered with records and manipulated test data.
When Stone explained the gravity of the inquiry to Chinna Pamidi, the testing facility’s president, the Cetero executive made a brief phone call. Moments later, employees rolled in eight flatbed carts, each double-stacked with file boxes. The documents represented five years of data from some 1,400 drug trials.
Pamidi bluntly acknowledged that much of the lab’s work was fraudulent, Stone said. “You got us,” Stone recalled him saying.
Consumer safety, when it comes to medications in this country, is zero to nil.
IF you go to a doctor to have a medical condition diagnosed and treated, please, first, find out if your doctor is receiving any kind of compensation for prescribing that drug (reference the Pfizer case, where that was happening, some years ago).
Then, ask for the oldest drug in that doctor's medication arsenal which has been vetted over the years, and has the best record for safety.
Trust, when it comes to the medical establishment, is only for the very wealthy who can sue a doctor or HMO into bankruptcy if treatment is botched or makes the problem worse, or complete fools.

Study: Bee Venom Kills HIV

Bees could hold the key to preventing HIV transmission. Researchers have discovered that bee venom kills the virus while leaving body cells unharmed, which could lead to an anti-HIV vaginal gel and other treatments.
Scientists at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis found that melittin, a toxin found in bee venom, physically destroys the HIV virus, a breakthrough that could potentially lead to drugs that are immune to HIV resistance. The study was published Thursday in the journal Antiviral Therapy.
"Our hope is that in places where HIV is running rampant, people could use this as a preventative measure to stop the initial infection," Joshua Hood, one of the authors of the study, said in a statement.
This could be an incredible breakthrough, if the clinical trials work well.

Food, drink industries undermine health policy, study finds

http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2013-02-11/lifestyle/sns-rt-us-chronic-diseasebre91b00d-20130211...
Multinational food, drink and alcohol companies are using strategies similar to those employed by the tobacco industry to undermine public health policies, health experts said. In an international analysis of involvement by so-called "unhealthy commodity" companies in health policy-making, researchers from Australia, Britain, Brazil and elsewhere said self-regulation was failing and it was time the industry was regulated more stringently from outside. The researchers said that through the aggressive marketing of ultra-processed food and drink, multinational companies were now major drivers of the world's growing epidemic of chronic diseases such as heart disease, cancer and diabetes. Writing in The Lancet medical journal, the researchers cited industry documents they said revealed how companies seek to shape health legislation and avoid regulation. This is done by "building financial and institutional relations" with health professionals, non-governmental organizations and health agencies, distorting research findings, and lobbying politicians to oppose health reforms, they said. The researchers [added] that their evidence showed [the] collaborative approach had failed. They recommended that, in the future, food, drinks and tobacco firms should have no role in national or international policies on chronic diseases. Instead, they proposed a system of "public regulation" which they said would focus on directly pressuring industry by "raising awareness of their shady practices and maintaining active public pressure".

Drug Overdose Deaths up for 11th Consecutive Year
February 20, 2013, ABC News/Associated Press
http://abcnews.go.com/Health/wireStory/drug-overdose-deaths-11th-consecutive-year-18540263
Drug overdose deaths rose for the 11th straight year, federal data show, and most of them were accidents involving addictive painkillers despite growing attention to risks from these medicines. "The big picture is that this is a big problem that has gotten much worse quickly," said Dr. Thomas Frieden, head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which gathered and analyzed the data. In 2010, the CDC reported, there were 38,329 drug overdose deaths nationwide. Medicines, mostly prescription drugs, were involved in nearly 60 percent of overdose deaths that year, overshadowing deaths from illicit narcotics. The report [in the] Journal of the American Medical Association ... details which drugs were at play in most of the fatalities. As in previous recent years, opioid drugs — which include OxyContin and Vicodin — were the biggest problem, contributing to 3 out of 4 medication overdose deaths. Medication-related deaths accounted for 22,134 of the drug overdose deaths in 2010. Anti-anxiety drugs including Valium were among common causes of medication-related deaths, involved in almost 30 percent of them. Among the medication-related deaths, 17 percent were suicides. The report's data came from death certificates, which aren't always clear on whether a death was a suicide or a tragic attempt at getting high. Frieden said the data show a need for more prescription drug monitoring programs at the state level, and more laws shutting down "pill mills" — doctor offices and pharmacies that over-prescribe addictive medicines.
Note: Over 38,000 drug deaths are more than the 32,000 automobile deaths in the US. This means that the risk of dying from drugs is now greater than the risk of car accidents. Monsanto drags over 400 U.S. farmers to court over GM seed patents: When will Big Ag's corrupt reign end?

(NaturalNews) Agri-giant Monsanto, not satisfied with being one of the world's largest agricultural corporations, is dragging hundreds of U.S. farmers into court over alleged copyright violations for repeated usage of the company's patented seeds.
In a case that has surprised a lot of observers, the U.S. Supreme Court agreed to hear one of these complaints on Feb. 19. That case, Bowman v. Monsanto Co., was billed as a landmark battle pitting farmer Vernon Bowman against the international Ag-giant over the former's repeated use of seeds he bought from Monsanto which the company says are only supposed to be used for one growing season.
