FEMA’s Unprecedented Nationwide EAS Test
Owen Myles, Contributing Writer
Activist Post
On Wednesday, November 9, at 14:00 EST, FEMA will conduct an unprecedented nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System. At this specified time, simultaneously across the entire United States a 30-second test will occur on all radio, television, cable, satellite, and wireline video service systems. The FEMA notice (pdf) states that landlines, mobile phones, and power grids will be excluded. Perhaps cellphones are excluded because all cellphones will soon have a built-in presidential alert system? Ask the FCC...

Early snowstorm wreaks havoc with northeast US
A record early snowfall led to the declaration of states of emergency in the states of New Jersey, Massachusetts and Connecticut, as well as large parts of New York State. The storm brought significant snowfall to New York City in October for only the fourth time since the American Civil War of 150 years ago.
Major Snow for Northeastern USA – NYC may get earliest snowfall since the Civil War
How long before somebody blames it on global warming? Who will be first? Romm? McKibben? AP Science writer Seth Borenstein?, some clueless politician?
New York has received measurable snow before Halloween only 3 times since 1869. These events were never more than one inch. If the forecast holds, this would be the earliest 1? snowfall in New York City since the Civil War.
'It was like a bomb went off': Central Park left devastated by snow storm with worst damage for 27 years as fears East Coast blackout could last a WEEK
As many as 1,000 trees were destroyed by the snow storm in Central Park it was revealed as three million homes without electricity were warned the blackout could last for a week.
Park officials said that the unprecedented damage spread across half of the park's 840 acres was the worst they had seen in 27 years after a record 2.9 inches of snow fell on Saturday.

BIG SIBERIAN FREEZE TO HIT BRITAIN
Winter weather will arrive with a vengeance with temperatures well below zero within the next fortnight.
Experts then predict a bitterly cold December with thermometers falling at least as low as -15C (5F).
Snow could hit the country even earlier than last year when a big freeze at the end of November sent temperatures to -20C (-4F), crippling transport. And some forecasters fear that temperatures could plunge as low or even lower this winter.

The End of Climategate?
In another email from CRU head Phil Jones reported, “I’ve just completed Mike’s Nature trick of adding in the real temps ?to each series for the last 20 years (ie from 1981 onwards) amd from ?1961 for Keith’s to hide the decline.” Skeptics decried this “trick” because it tacked (largely without acknowledging it) thermometer data onto the end of a tree ring data series where the complete set of tree ring data suggested that temperatures had actually declined rather than increased.
Scientist who said climate change sceptics had been proved wrong accused of hiding truth by colleague
It was cited uncritically by, among others, reporters and commentators from the BBC, The Independent, The Guardian, The Economist and numerous media outlets in America.
The Washington Post said the BEST study had ‘settled the climate change debate’ and showed that anyone who remained a sceptic was committing a ‘cynical fraud’.
But today The Mail on Sunday can reveal that a leading member of Prof Muller’s team has accused him of trying to mislead the public by hiding the fact that BEST’s research shows global warming has stopped.
Webmaster's Commentary:
Already an early heavy winter has settled on North America; the fourth in a row. This is the earliest an inch of snow has fallen in New York City in recorded history. And still the "Carbonazis" push their agenda for carbon trading, looting planet Earth with CO2 the way ENRON looted California with electricity (and indeed ENRON's Ken Lay helped Al Gore set the scheme up.) Still the Carbonazis proclaim the "science is settled" and we should all pay our carbon taxes to bankrupted governments like the obedient little slaves they hope us to be.
Climategate 2.0? The Muller Con Unravels! Hid Data? Muller accused by his co-author of 'trying to mislead the public by hiding the fact that BEST's research shows global warming has stopped'
'Prof Judith Curry, who chairs the Dept of Earth & Atmospheric Sciences at Georgia Inst. of Tech., said that Muller's claim that he has proven global warming skeptics wrong was also a 'huge mistake', with no scientific basis. Curry is a distinguished climate researcher with more than 30 years experience and the second named co-author of BEST project's 4 research papers'
In fact, Prof Curry said, the project’s research data show there has been no increase in world temperatures since the end of the Nineties – a fact confirmed by a new analysis that The Mail on Sunday has obtained.
Climategate II: The ongoing inconvenient truth behind the AGW scam
Prof Curry is a distinguished climate researcher with more than 30 years experience and the second named co-author of the BEST project’s four research papers.
Her comments, in an exclusive interview with The Mail on Sunday, seem certain to ignite a furious academic row. She said this affair had to be compared to the notorious ‘Climategate’ scandal two years ago.
Like the scientists exposed then by leaked emails from East Anglia University’s Climatic Research Unit, her colleagues from the BEST project seem to be trying to ‘hide the decline’ in rates of global warming.
From 7 Billion People To 500 Million People – The Sick Population Control Agenda Of The Global Elite
As we approach October 31st, dozens of articles are appearing in newspapers all over the globe that are declaring what a horrible thing it is that we are up to 7 billion people.
In fact, it surely is no accident that the United Nations put 7 Billion Day on the exact same day as Halloween. Perhaps they want to highlight how "scary" it is that we have 7 billion people on the planet, or perhaps they are trying to send us a message by having 7 Billion Day occur on the same day as "the festival of death".
In any event, it seems like way too much of a coincidence that 7 Billion Day just happens to fall on the same day as Halloween.
U.S. officials: Israel refused to commit to withhold surprise attack on Iran
In his recent visit to Israel, American Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta did not get a clear commitment from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Ehud Barak that Israel would not take action against Iranian nuclear facilities without coordinating any such operation with the United States.
According to American officials who were briefed about the visit Panetta made a month ago to Israel, the two Israeli leaders only answered Panetta's questions regarding Israel's intentions toward Iran in a general manner.
Webmaster's Commentary:
Netanyahu's Israel is in a mess, and the major labor organization here, the Histadrut, has threatened a general strike, starting tomorrow.
There is a potential Labor Court injunction against it, but one has to wonder what effect that may really have against a ton of angry people, fed up with the way they are treated.
Netanyahu, very much like President Obama, is desperate for some kind of distraction with which to misdirect the fury of his people for bad governmental decisions.
Both Netanyahu and his Sec Def,Ehud Barak, understand clearly that there is only so much pressure US sanctions can bring to bear against Iran, short of a commiting an act of war against Iran. In fact, sanctions, to date, have made the Iranian economy more resilient than it might have been otherwise.
What Netanyahu and Ehud Barak are probably calculating is that Obama, in a very cynical, and certainly desperate and dangerous re-election ploy, will attack Iran either late this year, or the beginning of next, to show how "butch" he is in his effort to protect poor little (nuclear-armed) Israel, and the quid pro quo would be AIPAC doing its best to deliver the American Jewish vote to the democrats for re-election.
This, of course, would mean no blood or money lost for Israel; it will be our American kids who get maimed for life, and die to "neutralize" yet another of Israel's alleged "existential threats" in the region. And the problem here, at this time in history, is not the region, per se, but Israel's pathological incapability for being a reasonable, and responsible neighbor, capable of doing the right thing (the continued siege of Gaza is an excellent example of that kind of behavior).
However, such a move on the part of the Obama administration is fraught with peril.
We don't have the troop strength necessary to make this happen; we don't have the manufacturing resources to resupply critical items, because our manufacturing is primarily outsourced; and no lender in their collective right mind, looking at the trillions the US Federal government has racked up in debt, would loan us the kind of money this war would take to fund.
It would unite the Iranian people around its leadership, and if it takes place, and the US attack happens before the end of this year, it will be our military in Iraq who will be catching the shrapnel - and anything else the Iranian military has to throw at us.
Then, there is the question Russia, whose government has pleaded with both the US and Israel not to start such a war, because it will devolve into not only a regional conflict but perhaps a world war. War with a truly nuclear-armed country, cooperating with Iran militarily?!? Thanks, but no thanks.
Unfortunately, just because igniting a military attack against Iran might well be the most catastrophically stupid, ham-fisted, wrong-headed thing this administration could do right now, is no guarantee that they will not do it.
UK says it will support any US plan to bomb Iran nuclear facilities
Britain’s armed forces are stepping up contingency planning for potential military action against Iran, amid mounting concern about Tehran’s nuclear enrichment programme, a media report said today. The Ministry of Defence (MoD) believed the US may decide to fast-forward plans for targeted missile strikes at some key Iranian facilities, it said.
The Guardian daily quoting British officials said that if Washington presses ahead it will seek, and receive, UK military help for any mission, despite some deep reservations within the coalition government.
Webmaster's Commentary:
Memo to the UK's Ministry of Defense; forgive me, but have you all gone collectively barking mad?!?!?
Two US administrations have consistently tried to blame the failures of the occupations of Afghanistan and Iraq, rather than taking responsibility for initiating two wars which should never have happened in the first place.
Don't you realize that, if the Obama administration goes ahead with such a course of action, you will have absolutely been "played" by a cynical American president, hoping to look "butch" for the upcoming election, and get Israel on its good side in order to deliver the Jewish vote for Obama in the next November elections?!? Don't you get it?!?
Those troops being pulled out of Iraq in less than 60 days will be repositioned for a military campaign against Iran very shortly thereafter.
Oh, and there is one other, teensy, tiny, problem with a military attack: Russia has just warned the US and Israel against an attack against Iran.
War with Russia, anyone?!? Because should the US and/or Israel attack, there is no guarantee that Russia will not join the confrontation on the side of Iran.
Iran now top threat to U.S. says military official
Iran is the biggest threat to the United States and its allies in the Middle East, surpassing al Qaeda, which is down but not out, a senior military official said on Friday.
"The biggest threat to the United States and to our interests and to our friends, I might add, has come into focus and it's Iran," said the official, addressing a forum in Washington.
Next week, the International Atomic Energy Agency, the United Nations nuclear watchdog, is expected to release a report that includes evidence of Iranian nuclear research which makes little sense if not weapons related, Western diplomats said.
Webmaster's Commentary:
One has to wonder if this came from an Israeli outlet; they love to not source who has made such a statement, and at what venue the statement was made.
And that little line buried toward the middle of the article says it all: "Reporters were allowed to cover the event on condition that the senior military official not be identified."
So, here's a pop quiz; since becoming an Islamic republic in 79, how many countries has Iran invaded?!?!? Zero, zip, none, nada!
How many countries have the US and Israel invaded?!? A bunch.
So what are we to conclude, logically, about which countries are really the worst threat to the US and the world?!? The US and Israel, both of which are nuclear armed countries.
U.S. backs away from sanctions on Iran central bank
Despite weeks of tough warnings, the Obama administration has backed away from its calls to impose new and potentially crippling economic sanctions against Iran in retaliation for an alleged plot to kill Saudi Arabia's ambassador on U.S. soil, according to diplomats and American officials.
Although U.S. officials had declared that they would "hold Iran accountable" for a purported plot, they now have decided that a proposed move against Iran's central bank could disrupt international oil markets and further damage the reeling American and world economies.
IDF ready to strike Iran
http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-4143755,00.html
The fact that Israel is holding training sessions seen as practical preparations for striking Iran’s nuclear sites is no secret. Anyone following the intensive drills held by the Air Force in the Mediterranean and in distant regions, ranging from Romania to Sardinia, realizes that Netanyahu’s and Barak’s declarations that Israel will not tolerate nuclear arms in Iranian hands is backed up by practical capabilities developed by the Air Force and by our military industries.
Based on the raging public discourse in recent days, we can estimate that a military option is available.
Webmaster's Commentary:
With your kids in Iraq standing in line for all those Iranian bullets flying back in retaliation.
The Guardian of Israel
Israeli hasbara insists that an attack on Iran is compatible with both Western interests and NATO strategy. For example, this week Israel released information about an IAF exercise in NATO’s bases in Italy. The statement was made to create the impression that any future Israeli aggression against Iran enjoys Western backing. NATO however was quick to disassociate itself from any such attack. NATO leader Fogh Rasmussen confirmed in a press conference that the alliance has no intention whatsoever of intervening in Iran.
To date, we’ve not seen any British public official statement that would suggest that Britain is ready to back either the US or Israel in any possible strike on Iran.
Israeli PM orders investigation into Iran leak
Israel's prime minister has ordered an investigation into alleged leaks of plans to attack Iran's nuclear facilities, it has been reported.
According to the Kuwaiti newspaper al-Jarida, the main suspects are the former heads of the Mossad and the Shin Bet, respectively Israel's foreign and domestic intelligence agencies.
Netanyahu is said to believe that the two, Meir Dagan and Yuval Diskin, wanted to torpedo plans being drawn up by him and Ehud Barak, the defence minister to hit Iranian nuclear sites. Tzipi Livni, leader of the opposition Kadima party, is also said to have been persuaded to attack Netanyahu for "adventurism" and "gambling with Israel's national interest".
UK and U.S. 'draw up joint plan to attack Iran': Evidence of nuclear programme raises tension in Middle East
The UK and U.S. are drawing up plans to attack Iran amid growing tensions in the Middle East, it was claimed last night.
Barack Obama and David Cameron are preparing for war after reports that Iran now has enough enriched uranium for four nuclear weapons.
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s hardline regime in Tehran has been linked to three assassination plots on foreign soil, according to senior officials in Whitehall.
UK military steps up plans for Iran attack amid fresh nuclear fears
The Ministry of Defence believes the US may decide to fast-forward plans for targeted missile strikes at some key Iranian facilities. Webmaster's Commentary:
"We's all Israel's bitches over here!" -- Number 9 1/2
Iran is on the verge of getting the Bomb. It is time for President Barack Obama to act
Next week, the full extent of Iran’s duplicity will be laid bare, with the publication of the latest International Atomic Energy Agency report on its nuclear ambitions.
Why, for example, are Iranian scientists experimenting with triggers that are only used for detonating nuclear weapons? Why are Iranian technicians devoting so much energy to developing a ballistic missile warhead that can carry a nuclear warhead? And why have they designed simulation programmes whose sole purpose is to test nuclear weapons systems?
Webmaster's Commentary:
Memo to Con Coughlin: if these allegations are in fact correct, sir, where is your irrefutable evidence?
Have you, in fact, seen this report and mentally digested it in its entirety before it has been released by the IAEA?!?
Is your portfolio so thoroughly tied up in defense stocks, that you have never, to my recollection, found a potential military conflict you didn't love?!?
So, let's get our facts straight (at least to date), shall we?
1. The last IAEA inspection of Iran's nuclear power station in Bushehr, and other nuclear enrichment sites at Isfahan, Natanz, at Fordo, and the research facility at Arak, were done mid-August of this year. Ali Asghar Soltanieh, Iran's ambassador to the International Atomic Energy Agency, said last week's visit to Iranian nuclear facilities by IAEA Deputy Director General Herman Nackaerts showed Tehran's "100 percent transparency and openness." Nackaerts, head of the UN nuclear watchdog's safeguards department, spent five days in Iran on a visit that coincided with a new push by Russia to revive deadlocked diplomatic talks between Tehran and six major powers.
Had the UN's IAEA Deputy Director General Herman Nackaerts found something suspect at that time, don't you think he would be screaming this to the world?
Mr. Coughlin, one of the first, iron-clad rules of Reporting 101 is to have your facts straight, before you start spewing accusations. Had you actually gone to the effort of interviewing this gentleman, you would most likely have found that he saw nothing which concerned him.
I have to wonder what, in the name of heaven, could have possibly gone so south in the Iranian nuclear program that this upcoming report, which obviously happened in less than 90 days from the date when Deputy Nackaerts actually inspected the sites, can now condemn Iran as developing nuclear weapons?
The timing, and logic, are flawed in the extreme. If Nackaerts saw nothing suspicious, why the rush for an IAEA report which may well trigger military engagement with Iran now?!?
If Nackaerts has actually authored this report, has he possibly been "turned" or "co-opted" by certain national entities (read: Israel, the US, and the UK)to create a report cleverly filled with innuendos and half-truths, to make it appear that Iran has a nuclear weapons program, when it actually does not?
And please; the big lies just don't work any more. A little honest research transmutes this claim into absolute rubbish. As acrimonious as Ahmadinejad may be toward the nation of Israel,he has never claimed he wants to wipe Israel off the map. So let’s set the record straight for once. I asked an authority on this subject to weigh in. He is Muhammad Sahimi, professor of chemical engineering at the University of Southern California, and an expert on Iran’s nuclear program, quoted regularly in the pages of the NY Times and other major publications. Prof. Sahimi is Iranian-American, but no friend of the current regime. Here is what he wrote me, quoting a precise Farsi translation and his gloss on the text: Here is the exact translation of what Ahmadinejad said: “The Imam [Ayatollah Khomeini] said this regime, occupying Jerusalem, must vanish from the page of time.” Note that: 1. This is what Khomeini said. He had said it years earlier, and at that time no one took it seriously. 2. He said “this regime,” not Jews, 3. He did not say “must be destroyed,” rather “must disappear.” What he meant was that Israel’s regime and political system “must” disappear, akin to what happened in the Soviet Union, where the regime disappeared without bloodshed. In fact, Khomeini, in a famous letter to Gorbachev, had made that prediction.
So, Mr. Coughlin, if I, as a plain American citizen, can do the research which sets right the lies, why can't you, and what is the agenda here?
The agenda is simple. Israel's Netanyahu has made the statement that "the window is closing" for an attack against Iran, and that is because the US military is supposed to be out of Iraq by 31 December, according to the terms of the SOFA agreement. Netanyahu wants to see a US led attack against Iran before that time, so that our soldiers are still in Iraq to function as "bullet catchers" before such an attack is undertaken. Thank you, but as the daughter of a World War II Veteran) I would like to hope that Obama will politely decline such madness.
Also, Russia has warned the US and Israel of any attack against Iran. World War III Could Erupt - Russia Warns US of Israel Not To Attack Iran
War with Russia, sir, to appease Israel and deliver the Jewish vote for Obama in 2012? I think not.
Israel test fires missile; Iran in crosshairs
Israel on Wednesday successfully test-fired a missile said capable of carrying a nuclear warhead and striking Iran, fanning the public debate over reports the country's top leaders are agitating for a military attack on Tehran's atomic facilities.
While Israeli leaders have long warned that a military strike was an option, an intense round of public discourse on the subject erupted over the weekend by a report in the Yediot Ahronot newspaper that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Ehud Barak favor an attack.
That was followed by a report in the Haaretz daily Wednesday that Netanyahu is now lobbying senior members of his Cabinet for an attack, despite the complexity of the operation and the high likelihood it would draw a deadly retaliation from Iran.
Is Israel Considering a Pre-Emptive Military Strike on Iran’s Nuclear Facilities?
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is trying to rally support in his cabinet for an attack on Iran, according to government sources.
The country’s defense minister Ehud Barak and the foreign minister Avigdor Lieberman are said to be among those backing a pre-emptive strike to neutralize Iran’s nuclear ambitions. But a narrow majority of ministers currently oppose the move, which could trigger a wave of regional retaliation.
World War III Could Erupt - Russia Warns US of Israel Not To Attack Iran
Israel attack on Iran military suicide
There is a strong speculation that Israel is bound to mount an attack on Iranian nuclear sites, a threat which the Zionist regime has frequently repeated and an idea which, if translated into action, will bring about apocalyptic consequences for the Zionist entity.
Webmaster's Commentary:
The impending departure of the US from Iraq is why Israel has started moving forward with their attack on Iran. Their attack can only succeed if there are plenty of American kids still in Iraq to soak up those Iranian bullets during the retaliation for a strike on Iran's power station.

Which is why the US gave those bunker-buster bombs to Israel last month! Fear. Right. Sure. No kidding. Fear.
World War 3 A Foregone Conclusion?
The hypno-induced psychotic public can't even hear the war drums any more, no matter how loud. They've become background music, white noise or something to tap your foot to. With sadistic glee still warm over Gadhafi's public torture and execution through the streets of Libya, the bloodthirsty mind-controlled western public will count a Syrian overthrow a nice after dinner mint, while monstrous illegal death drone attack reports on innocent civilians in Pakistan and Somalia are savored pastries while sipping their morning coffee.
A monstrous world unleashed while citizens nod and sway to the rhythm of dystopian mechanized war and control.
Iran 'is ready for war': Tehran vows to retaliate if Israel and the West attack nuclear plants
Iran ratcheted up tensions in the Middle East yesterday when its foreign minister declared the country was ‘ready for war’ with Israel and the West.
In inflammatory remarks certain to fuel uncertainty in the volatile region, Ali Akbar Salehi warned that Tehran would ‘not hesitate’ to retaliate if attacked.
His posturing came as Foreign Secretary William Hague urged Israel’s defence minister not to fan the flames during top-level talks in London.

International Atomic Energy Agency investigators say they’ve discovered a secret nuclear plant in north-western Syria. They claim the complex has a similar design to a uranium enrichment plant Muammar Gaddafi tried to build in Libya.
However, there is apparently no evidence of nuclear production at the site, which is currently used as a cotton-spinning plant.
UN investigators say the previously unknown complex in Syria adds to suspicions that the regime worked with A.Q. Khan, the father of Pakistan’s atomic bomb, to acquire technology that could make nuclear weapons.
Webmaster's Commentary:
And for the record, all I see is a building.
From Syria to Iran: The Drive for Nuclear World War
While the attention has, momentarily, shifted from Syria to Iran, the goal of the British empire remains the same: destroy any semblance of stability in the world through nuclear world war.
Syrian Government Decries America’s ‘Blatant Interference’ in Uprising
I have reported on Western involvement in the Syrian “revolution” (just like Libya) for many months now and it is far from a “conspiracy theory” to say that the West is heavily involved in the opposition at this point.
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has not shied away from pointing this out, either. In fact, he opted to call the Western meddling in Syria a “conspiracy” earlier this year.
The evidence is quite clear, especially given the heavy-handed anti-Assad position held by the American Ambassador to Syria, Robert Ford.
Ford has met with opposition figures, a fact that clearly upset the Syrian people and led to an unsuccessful attempt to assault the compound in which he was meeting.
U.S. moves to sell attack helicopters to Turkey
The Obama administration formally notified the Congress on Friday of an unusual proposal to take three AH-1W "SuperCobra" attack helicopters from the U.S. Marine Corps inventory and sell them to Turkey.
The deal, valued at up to $111 million, would boost Turkey's self-defense as well as regional security and its ability to operate with U.S. forces and other NATO members, a Pentagon notice to lawmakers said.
Ankara has been seeking the helicopters to replace those lost in its long struggle against separatist rebels from the Kurdistan Workers' Party, or PKK.
Webmaster's Commentary:
One has to wonder just why the US has made this deal at this particular time, just before Americans are (theoretically) leaving Iraq in around a little over two months.
The fact that these SuperCobras are being taken from the Marine military inventory means it is a rush delivery.
Were I a betting person, I would bet that this deal has come about because Syria's government will be the next to be toppled by certain covert Western forces, and this is why this delivery of these choppers is critical. Once one of Syria’s closest allies, Turkey is hosting an armed opposition group waging an insurgency against the government of President Bashar al-Assad, providing shelter to the commander and dozens of members of the group, the Free Syrian Army, and allowing them to orchestrate attacks across the border from inside a camp guarded by the Turkish military
So, in essence, Turkey has become the staging area for US/NATO sponsored attacks against Assad's government.
‘We won’t let Syria become 2nd Libya’ – Russian FM
Russia will not allow the repetition of the Libyan scenario in Syria, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said after a meeting with the Co-operation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf in Abu-Dhabi.
“We do not support regimes, we support international law,” Lavrov reiterated Moscow’s stance on Syria. Russia insists on mediating dialogue between the authorities and opposition in the country and this position is reflected in the draft resolution of Russia and China.
He said that Russia supports a peaceful initiative of the Arab League. The document, which was made public on Monday in Doha, provides for withdrawal of tank units from Syrian cities and the start of talks between the forces involved in the conflict.

Israel Admits Arming Syrian Revolutionaries
By Richard Walker
News that Israeli weapons are in the hands of Syrian opposition groups should come as no surprise to anyone familiar with Middle East unrest. For decades, Israel has not only interfered openly in the affairs of its neighbors; it has run covert wars in Lebanon, Syria, Iraq and Iran, to name but a few nations. It has assassinated Iranian nuclear scientists and has supplied terrorist groups as long as they targeted countries it wanted to destabilize.
When it comes to Syria, Israel has a vested interest in seeing it collapse into chaos, convinced the overthrow of the Bashar al-Assad regime will undermine Syria’s allies, namely Iran and Hezbollah in Lebanon. It therefore did not come as a shock to pundits when a Syrian envoy to the Arab League revealed Israel has been supplying Syrian insurgents with automatic weapons. The envoy said both Lebanon and Syria had intercepted shipments of Israeli weapons bound for Syrian fighters.
Israel has long opposed the Syrian regime and, as far back as 2003, used its neo-con supporters to convince President Bush he should sanction the overthrow of al-Assad. Dick Cheney has since admitted he was in favor of a plan to bomb Syria because he believed it would weaken Israel’s enemies in the region. Syria shares borders with Turkey, Lebanon, Iraq and Jordan, and is a gateway for traffic among all those nations. Israel and its backer in Washington, Barack Obama, would like to put a regime in Syria that allows them to control that gateway. In so doing, they could shut off trade between Lebanon and Iran, which is next door to Iraq.
D.C. continues to support Israel’s dirty work in the region even though violence in Syria could quickly spread into Lebanon. It was Israel’s 1982 intervention in Lebanon that led Hezbollah to become the organization it is today.

UK army chief secretly visits Tel Aviv
British military chief General Sir David Richards has secretly visited Tel Aviv earlier this week, the Israeli daily The Jerusalem Post quoted the regime's military sources as saying.

Syrian ‘Nuke Site’ Actually a Textile Factory
It may just be an ordinary textile factory, but it sure looks like a nuclear weapons facility. That’s the conclusion of researchers today, who say the reports last week of a massive plant with thousands of fast spinning machines turned out not to be centrifuges, but rather ordinary cotton spinners. “It is, and always has been, a textile factory,” one of the researchers confirmed.
Webmaster's Commentary:
The lesson here is that the little boy crying "Wolf" doesn't really know what they are talking about. Iraq was accused of building bombs in their power station at Osirik which led to Israel's bombing. No bombs or bomb making equipment were found when the ruins were examined. Israel them bombed Syria claiming to have found a reactor. Again, no evidence substantiating that claim was ever found. Now we had this claim of a uranium enrichment factory in Syria that is a factory making sewing thread!
The finger pointers are batting zero!
Keep that in mind as Israel's presstitutes scream about nuclear weapons in Iran!
NATO will not dare to attack Syria
NATO Secretary General has dismissed the prospect of any military intervention in Syria by the Western alliance.
Addressing reporters on Monday during a joint news conference in Tripoli with Chairman of Libya's National Transitional Council (NTC) Mustafa Abdel-Jalil, NATO's Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen reiterated that any military action within Syria by the Western alliance forces is out of the question.
NATO's Next War: Syria, the Arab Yugoslavia of the Middle East
Following its latest military success in opening the Libyan gate to Africa, the U.S. – led NATO seems about to recruit its 13th Arab “partner,” thus paving the way for the United States to move its Africom HQ from Germany to the continent after removing the Gaddafi regime, which opposed both this move and the French – led Mediterranean Union (MU), a removal that is in itself, for all realpolitic reasons, a threatening warning to the neighboring Algeria to soften its opposition to both Africa hosting Africom and NATO expanding southward and to drop off whatever reservations it still has to the revival of the MU, which lost its Egyptian co-chair with President Nicolas Sarkozy with the removal of former president Hosni Mubarak from power in Cairo.

Report: Israel seeking to upgrade its nuclear weapons capabilities
Israel is working on improving its nuclear weapons capabilities, according to a report by the independent Trident commission in the United Kingdom that was published in the Guardian newspaper on Monday.
According to the report in the Guardian, Israel is extending the range of its Jericho 3 land-to-land missiles so they will have the capabilities of transcontinental missiles.
Transcontinental missiles are generally thought of as missiles with ranges of about 5,000 miles.

Israel forcing Palestinians out of East Jerusalem
Israel is forcing Palestinians out of East Jerusalem as part of a deliberate policy that might constitute a war crime, a prominent Israeli non-governmental organisation said on today.
The Israeli Committee Against House Demolitions (ICAHD) has presented the United Nations with its findings and demanded an inquiry, saying Israel targeted Palestinians by demolishing homes, revoking residency and eroding quality of life.
"We are witnessing a process of ethnic displacement," said Michael Sfard, a lawyer who helped draw up a 73-page report into the issue. "Israel is manifestly and seriously violating international law ... and the motivation is demographic."
Settlers Stone Elderly Palestinian Lady
A group of Jewish settlers Monday stoned an elderly Palestinian lady as she was picking olives in Mukhmas, a village southeast of Ramallah in the West Bank, according to local sources.
The 80-year-old woman was reported to be injured in the head and transferred to hospital for treatment.

Webmaster's Commentary:
If you think those rockets are really being fired by Palestinians, I have some of Saddam's nuclear weapons to sell you! Call in the next 30 minutes and I'll toss in a mortgage-backed security and a set of Ginzu knives!
Why would Palestinians shoot rockets right now, when such rockets only help Israel block Palestinian statehood?
Of course these are being fired by Israel agents. Nothing else makes any sense.
IS ISRAEL BEHIND THE ROCKET ATTACKS FROM GAZA?
The following video published at HaAretz shows Gaza ‘militants’ preparing to fire rockets at Israel…. The IDF watched, captured it on video and did not try to stop them? Isn’t that a bit strange? It really makes one wonder if this is nothing more than another Israeli false flag attempt to ‘con the world’.
Webmaster's Commentary:
You should feel insulted that the Israelis thought you so stupid you wouldn't realize this was an obvious hoax.
And again, some common sense. Why would anyone in Palestine fire rockets into Israel when rockets HELP Israel block Palestinian statehood at the United Nations? This is another Israeli hoax, firing rockets into their own land and hoping for bloody shirts, then making a phone call saying "We're Arabs; come and get us you schmucks!"
Lieberman: If Gaza rocket fire does not stop, there will be consequences
Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman threatened a strong Israeli response to the rocket fire from Gaza on southern Israel on Saturday.
"Israel is not seeking a confrontation with the Palestinians and does not want to escalate the current situation, but it will not tolerate barrage after barrage without retaliating," Lieberman said during a press conference with the president of Republika Srpska on Saturday.
Webmaster's Commentary:
Cui Bono? Who benefits from this rocket fire?
It cannot possibly be the Palestinians, who have a bid to be recognized as a nation, waiting for a response from the UN.
The Palestinians are not stupid.
But what if Israel had certain agents-provacateurs do this, to gum up the works for UN acceptance of a Palestinian statehood, or create another "justification" to go in to Gaza with a "Cast Lead II" campaign?
Just something to think about.
Israeli Navy Seizes Ships Bound For Gaza, Detains Passengers
Canadian and Irish ships, the Tahrir and the Saoirse, sailing with Freedom Waves to Gaza have been illegally boarded by the Israeli military in international waters, about 50 nautical miles from the coast of Gaza, around 9:30 am EDT. The IDF spokesperson confirmed that the vessels were taken to the port of Ashdod, and the passengers were taken into custody by the Israeli police. Although the IDF spokesperson claimed they took "every precaution to ensure the safety of the activists," Freedom Waves to Gaza organizers have been unable to communicate with the ships since soon after the vessels were approached by Israeli warships earlier this morning.

Following the civil war with Mark Anthony, Augustus reduced the number of Rome's Legions from 50 to 28, that number being calculated as the minimum needed to keep control over Rome's far-flung empire. But the defeat at Teutoburg reduced the number of Legions down to 25, which left some portions of the empire without a legion in easy range. Given the long time needed to fully recruit, train, equip, and deploy a new legion, around five years, this led to a period of Romes history where the remote provinces began to realize that Rome could no longer reach them quickly, and began to try to break free.
That is what just happened to the American empire in Kyrgyzstan!
Flashback: 800 Krytrons Smuggled to Israel
Washington Report, July 15, 1985, Page 6
On May 12, Newsweek magazine disclosed that a federal grand jury in Los Angeles was investigating California businessman Richard Kelly Smyth on charges of violating U.S. export laws by shipping between 800 and 810 sophisticated timing devices called krytrons to a company in Israel without State Department approval. In addition to their numerous civilian applications, krytrons can be used as elegant triggering devices for nuclear weapons and limited exports are permitted only under a strict licensing procedure. Newsweek suggested the case may have "serious implications for U.S.-Israeli relations."
Israel Military Violates Lebanon Airspace - On A Regular Basis
The Israeli military has once again violated Lebanon's airspace by flying a renaissance plane over the country's territory, the Lebanese Army says.
According to a statement by the Lebanese Army, the Israeli aircraft violated Lebanese airspace on Tuesday over the border town of Alma al-Shaab at 7:15 a.m. local time.
The remote-controlled drone left Lebanese airspace the village of al-Naqoura on Wednesday at 3:00 a.m. after hovering over the southern parts of the country and the capital, Beirut, for almost 20 hours, a Press TV correspondent reported.
Israel Called Biggest Threat to World Peace

Israeli doctors 'failing to report torture of Palestinian detainees'
Medical professionals in Israel are being accused of failing to document and report injuries caused by the ill-treatment and torture of detainees by security personnel in violation of their ethical code.

Well, apparently one of Israel's industries is booming; the creation of devices with which to torture.
Were I a betting human being, I would almost be willing to bet that these devices have been tried, and fine-tuned, on a number of Palestinian prisoners

Man pleads guilty to illegally trafficking kidneys from Israel where they were later transplanted into American patients at prestigious US hospitals
Levy Izhak Rosenbaum, an Israeli citizen living in Brooklyn, NY, has pleaded guilty to illegally purchasing kidneys from desperate Israelis, and trafficking them back to the US for transplant in patients at prestigious, but unnamed, American hospitals. Rosenbaum has also reportedly pleaded guilty to conspiracy for illegally brokering kidney sales.
According to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency (JTA), desperate kidney patients collectively paid Rosenbaum $410,000 to purchase kidneys harvested from Israelis who had sold them for a mere fraction of this amount. Rosenbaum's lawyers claim that all the donors agreed to give up their kidneys, but a 1984 federal law prohibits knowingly purchasing or selling organs for transplant.

CIA Drone Assassinations Violate the Law of War
The constitutional arguments against the Central Intelligence Agency’s assassinations of Anwar al-Awlaki and, two weeks later, his 16-year-old son have been widely discussed. Less well known, however, is the case against CIA assassinations to be made on the basis of the law of war.
Into the breach has stepped Howard University law professor Morris Davis, who in a recent column presented a well-researched case that the CIA’s drone assassination program is illegal under the law of war and that, as a result, CIA personnel participating in drone strikes could be prosecuted for murder.
U.S. secretly flying drones out of Ethiopia
The U.S. Air Force has been secretly flying drones from a civilian airport in southern Ethiopia as part of an aggressive campaign against al Qaeda affiliates in Somalia and Yemen, the Washington Post reported on Sunday.
The paper said in its online edition that Washington has invested millions of dollars to upgrade a remote airfield in Arba Minch from where it was now flying a fleet of Reaper drones that can carry Hellfire missiles and satellite-guided bombs.
It quoted the Pentagon as saying the drones had been unarmed and had been used for surveillance and collecting intelligence only but that it would not rule out using them to launch lethal strikes in the future.
Webmaster's Commentary:
The war against Africa, for its vast resources, is well and truly joined. What we are witnessing, at this point in the 21st century, is nothing less than a Western re-colonialization of the continent toward that purpose.
And I really have a hard time believing, for one second, that these drones have not yet been used yet as weapons against the African civilian population.
Drones, Cash, and Advisers: US Escalates Role in Africa
It is a war rarely talked about in the US – even less so than the US military operation in the Philippines or the efforts to prop up Yemeni Dictator Ali Abdullah Saleh. It is the broad US war across Africa.
Sometimes it is drones, sometimes it is military advisers, sometimes it is just massive amounts of cash to whichever dubious dictator the US is pretty sure is the answer to militancy. But just four and a half years after AFRICOM’s creation, the US is in wars virtually across the continent, a war most Americans are totally unaware of.
Webmaster's Commentary:
None of these wars could ever be characterized as wars for "humanitarian causes"; they are about which outside nations will project power first, in terms of the literal recolonization of Africa, to control the rape and pillage of it's vast natural resources.
CIA to continue covert operations in Iraq
On October 21, President Barack Obama announced that all US forces would withdraw from Iraq by December 31 and “America's war in Iraq will be over.”
US officials, however, have made it clear that the CIA plans to continue the programs, which have been run by the Joint Special Operations Command and other military organizations for years, in the country.
U.S. to boost Gulf presence after Iraq pullout: report
The United States is planning to bolster its military presence in the Gulf after it pulls out its remaining troops from Iraq, the New York Times reported in its online edition on Sunday.
President Barack Obama said on October 21 that he had decided to withdraw all U.S. troops from Iraq by the end of the year and the paper said that U.S. military officers and diplomats worried that the withdrawal could bring instability to the region.
It said Washington was negotiating to maintain a combat presence on the ground in Kuwait and was considering deploying more warships in the area.
Webmaster's Commentary:
Translation: Obama is looking very cynically at an election year ploy of an attack against Iran, to rebrand himself as "uber-butch" in Israel's behalf, so that he will get Israeli backing for the 2012 election, to insure that Israel will "deliver" the American Jewish vote to the Democrats.
If, however, his and the Pentagon's calculations are in the slightest bit off, and we lose this one, it could be a catastrophically bad loss.
Russia and China have kind of been playing "Neville Chamberlain" in the previous pre-emptive wars this country has waged in the last decade, and the leadership of both countries must feel played and betrayed by signing on to the UN document on Libya.
Russia, which has a long history of trade with Iran, may well side with it in any military confrontation the US and Israel might conjure up.
We don't have the troop strength to win this; we don't have the manufacturing with which to provide critically needed war materials, and no lender in their collective right mind would lend the US government the money such an undertaking would cost.
Unfortunately, just because such a war may well be the most stupidly insane thing this administration could do,that is no guarantee against it pursuing such a course of action.

Oil, diesel movement to Afghanistan banned
KARACHI: Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Dr Asim Hussain on Saturday said that the government has banned movement of refined petroleum products to Afghanistan.
“The trade of petroleum and petrol is banned to Afghanistan to prevent dumping in the local market that is causing huge revenue losses, besides damaging the road network of Pakistan,” the minister said at a meeting with members of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI).
NATO's Installation Of New Libyan Regime Signals Neocolonial Scramble For Africa
THE installation of the National Transitional Council (NTC) government in Libya by the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) could signal the beginning of an open neocolonial scramble for Africa. Suspicions about such a blueprint were first aroused when President George W. Bush set up the United States-Africa Command (AFRICOM) in 2008, months before demitting office. The demand for a permanent American military footprint on the African continent had come from right-wing think tanks that enjoyed great clout in the corridors of power during the eight years of the Bush presidency.
Webmaster's Commentary:
The rush for Africa's natural resources is on, full swing; but unfortunately, the people who have the temerity to live over the oil and mineral wealth the US government has chosen to appropriate for itself, generally get the short stick in terms of any deals which will ultimately be hammered out.
This invasion is also for the purpose of keeping other oil importers out of the picture here, like China.
US Quietly Assumes Military Posture in Africa
While putting few U.S. troops at risk, the United States is playing a growing role in Africa's military battles, using special forces advisers, drones and tens of millions of dollars in military aid to combat a growing and multifaceted security threat.
Once again, the focus is Somalia, the lawless nation that was the site of America's last large-scale military intervention in Africa in the early 1990s.
Webmaster's Commentary:
"Security threat" Indigenous people wanting to use their own natural resources instead of letting them be taken by foreign corporations.
Suspected US drone-fired missiles kill 2 Haqqani militants in Pakistan, officials say
The U.S. has accused Pakistan of supporting the Haqqani network and allowing the militants safe haven in North Waziristan — allegations denied by Islamabad. Washington has repeatedly called on Pakistan to attack the Haqqanis, or at least prevent them from carrying out cross-border raids, but Islamabad has refused.
In response, the Obama administration has significantly ramped up the number of drone attacks against militants in North Waziristan. The U.S. refuses to acknowledge the CIA-run program publicly, but officials have said privately that the strikes have killed many senior militant commanders.

Competition deepens in the South China Sea
In the run-up to this year's East Asia Summit (EAS), the Philippines and Vietnam have sent a preemptive joint message: they are not willing to yield to rising Chinese pressure on unresolved South China Sea territorial issues.
The new loose alliance between the two Association of Southeast Asia Nations (ASEAN) members aims to enhance their strategic cooperation and has effectively invited other regional powers to help counterbalance China's claims in the brewing multilateral dispute.
Webmaster's Commentary:
In light of the fact that the Phillipines can only be characterized as a US-client state, this situation could get very ugly very quickly.
Let us hope that cooler heads prevail at this conference, and that some negotiated settlement regarding navigation, and potential oil finds in the South China Sea, can be reached.
China on Monday warned foreign energy companies against exploration in the disputed South China Sea after U.S. oil giant Exxon Mobil Corp said it had discovered hydrocarbons in August off central Vietnam, in an area also claimed by China.
China To Retaliate If US Currency Bill Becomes Law
China will retaliate in kind against the U.S. if a measure targeting the yuan becomes law, the China Daily reported Tuesday, citing an official from the Ministry of Commerce.
The proposed currency legislation would hurt both China and U.S. interests and if it eventually becomes law, "we cannot ignore it and will definitely reciprocate in kind," said He Ning, director-general of the Department of American & Oceanian Affairs at the Ministry of Commerce, according to the report.
"We have readied ourselves with measures to deal with the possible outcomes from the U.S.," he said, adding that "nations worldwide always like to target China and its policies, including currency, when they have their own problems."
Webmaster's Commentary:
Memo to Congress: demonizing China's currency with such a law is a really, really bad idea.
Stopping these wars without end, eliminating the Federal Reserve, having the Federal government print its own currency, and incentivizing companies to invest and grow here in the US, will go a long way toward fixing the mess in which the American economy has been placed by lousy domestic and foreign policy decisions.
Blaming China for our economic mess is both hypocritical, and potentially economically dangerous for this country. If Congress has any sense, they won't go here.
Report: Military Blew $1 Trillion on Weapons Since 9/11

Once thought lost and now found...$6.6 billion
The mystery of $6 billion that seemed to go missing in the early days of the Iraq war has been resolved, according to a new report.

LA TIMES: How Jewish is Hollywood?

I have never been so upset by a poll in my life. Only 22% of Americans now believe "the movie and television industries are pretty much run by Jews," down from nearly 50% in 1964. The Anti-Defamation League, which released the poll results last month, sees in these numbers a victory against stereotyping. Actually, it just shows how dumb America has gotten. Jews totally run Hollywood.
How deeply Jewish is Hollywood? When the studio chiefs took out a full-page ad in the Los Angeles Times a few weeks ago to demand that the Screen Actors Guild settle its contract, the open letter was signed by: News Corp. President Peter Chernin (Jewish), Paramount Pictures Chairman Brad Grey (Jewish), Walt Disney Co. Chief Executive Robert Iger (Jewish), Sony Pictures Chairman Michael Lynton (surprise, Dutch Jew), Warner Bros. Chairman Barry Meyer (Jewish), CBS Corp. Chief Executive Leslie Moonves (so Jewish his great uncle was the first prime minister of Israel), MGM Chairman Harry Sloan (Jewish) and NBC Universal Chief Executive Jeff Zucker (mega-Jewish). If either of the Weinstein brothers had signed, this group would have not only the power to shut down all film production but to form a minyan with enough Fiji water on hand to fill a mikvah.

Italian Government On The Brink Of Collapse
Italy's Premier Silvio Berlusconi is struggling to gain support for an emergency growth plan that the European Union wants within hours, reports The Washington Post.
Eurozone governments--who are trying to come up with a comprehensive plan to tackle the Eurozone debt crisis by Wednesday--are demanding that Italy draw up new plans for economic stability.
The EU wants Italy to raise its pension age from 65 to 67 and change its legal system to encourage investment, among other suggested reforms.
Berlusconi, however, has found little support within his coalition for the demanded measures, and faces resistance from the Northern League, his powerful ally.
If Berlusconi is unable to meet EU demands, it could cost him his job.

Greek Referendum Will Not Be Stopped

Western Democracy: A Farce And A Sham

Every day that passes adds to the fraudulent image of what is called Western democracy.
Sarkozy and Merkel meet with Greece’s Prime Minister Papandreou at a G20 summit in Cannes.
Consider that the entire Western world is outraged that the Greek prime minister announced that he is going to permit the Greek people to decide their own fate instead of having it decided for them by a handful of banksters, politicians, and bureaucrats living it up at taxpayer expense at “talks” in the French resort of Cannes on the Mediterranean.

Establishment Freaks Out That the Greek People Might Get to Vote on Bailout/Austerity Deal
Activist Post
The E.U. was screaming "crisis" in an attempt to ram through a new bailout plan for Greece and an increased fund to backstop debt contagion in Europe. Greek vote rattles world markets
Investors around the world reacted badly to news that Greek voters will get hold a national referendum on the recent bail-out deal to prevent a default on the country's sovereign debt.
The surprise announcement of a vote raises doubts about the European Union debt deal that would wipe out up to half of Greece's loan payments, but still required unpopular austerity measures by the Greek government.

PAPANDREOU: GREEKS TO VOTE ON EURO MEMBERSHIP IN REFERENDUM
DOW Falls Over 300
The DOW fell over 300 points Tuesday after a European bailout plan was almost overturned by a proposed Greek referendum.
MSNBC reports;
Analysts said if Greek voters reject the unpopular bailout, it would result in a “hard default” by Greece, causing bigger losses for banks and raising the threat of systemic risk.
Greek Premier George Papandreou shocked global markets late Monday by announcing that he will put the nation’s recent bailout deal through a referendum, potentially undoing last week’s long-awaited agreement by EU leaders.
Ordinary Greeks are taking matters into their own hands
People here feel the country is gradually sinking, carrying them down a path dug in arbitrariness and injustice. Yet at this very moment – when it is not only the rules of the game that are challenged but the game itself – they seem to feel empowered to act in ways that would not have appeared feasible in the past: they physically attack politicians, mock and cancel military-inspired national public parades and humiliate army officials attending them, participate in neighbourhood assemblies and mass demonstrations (irrespective of the amount of tear gas thrown against them by the police), create grassroots trade unions to demand their labour rights, occupy workplaces, disrupt public services and protest in violent, impulsive, unpredictable ways.
The Veil of Secrecy at the Fed Has Been Lifted, Now It's Time for Change
As a result of the greed, recklessness, and illegal behavior on Wall Street, the American people have experienced the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression. Millions of Americans, through no fault of their own, have lost their jobs, homes, life savings, and ability to send their kids to college. Small businesses have been unable to get the credit they need to expand their businesses, and credit is still extremely tight. Wages as a share of national income are now at the lowest level since the Great Depression, and the number of Americans living in poverty is at an all-time high.

Welcome to the Oakland General Strike
In any case, even if a relatively small number of people actually strike, the mere act of putting such a notion on the agenda is already awakening people to new possibilities. The general strike is not intended to be a mere work stoppage, but a day for positive, creative public dialogue. Leading up to it, there are open meetings every day at 5:00 p.m. at Occupy Oakland where people are discussing what they are doing, or what they propose to do, to prepare for the strike (publicity, outreach, coordination). You are welcome to observe any of those meetings, and to participate if you feel so inclined. During the day of the strike, there will be large gatherings at the same location (Frank Ogawa Plaza at 14th & Broadway) at 9:00 a.m., 12:00 noon, and 5:00 p.m.

Note at about 2 minutes where someone breaks a store window and the protesters ask, "Why did you do that?" The guy breaking the window is probably an undercover cop or FBI informant, sent in to cause damage the media can use to discredit the protesters. This is an old trick the government has been using and we had to deal with it during the protests against the Vietnam war when the FBI informants first organized a peace march at Disneyland, then started rioting in front of the media cameras.

The criminals within the Oakland Police Department have been caught infiltrating and provocateuring the Occupy Oakland protests.

While Citi's Stephen Englander does not go as far as concluding that a collapse of Europe would be sufficient (but certainly necessary) to "ruin" the world, he does have a very relevant conclusion in a piece just released to clients: namely that central banks everywhere, but in Europe, are using the recessionary slow down in the insolvent continent, which nobody seems to believe any more will be able to avoid a recession (an event which S&P stated in no uncertain terms would lead to a downgrade in France and other core countries), as the perfect political smokescreen to push the turbo print button on their respective money printers. Libye:
If the Libyan war was about saving lives, it was a catastrophic failure
As the reality of what western media have hailed as Libya's "liberation" becomes clearer, however, the butchering of Gaddafi has been revealed as only a reflection of a much bigger picture. On Tuesday, Human Rights Watch reported the discovery of 53 bodies, military and civilian, in Gaddafi's last stronghold of Sirte, apparently executed – with their hands tied – by former rebel militia.
Evidence found of pro-NATO massacre in Sirte, Libya
The U.S. government and NATO countries used alleged human rights violations as a pretext for the war on Libya. These allegations were later proven false by numerous human rights groups, including Amnesty International. Now evidence has surfaced pointing to human rights violations committed by the pro-NATO Libyan rebels.
Human Rights Watch announced on Oct. 24 that they had discovered 53 decomposing bodies at a hotel in the city of Sirte, which rebels were using as a prison. Evidence indicates that many or all of the victims appear to have been summarily executed. Some of them had their hands tied behind their back, bullet holes were found in the ground and spent rifle shells were strewn about. Many were shot in the head. Several have already been identified as Gaddafi supporters.
HUMAN RIGHTS INVESTIGATIONS ON CRIMES OF OBAMA AND HIS NATO IN LIBYA
HRI is an evidence-based, independent and rigorous investigation of human rights abuses. HRI investigated and published on its website a number objective and thorough human rights investigations on the crimes committed in Libya by the Islamists rebels against prisoners of war, African workers, and Libyan civilians. These horrific atrocities were executed with direct military and political support and directions from Obama and his NATO mercenaries which included: Sarkozy; Cameroon; and Al-Thani (of Qatar). These persons and states must be brought to national and international justice and pay for their horrendous crimes.

“At the moment everything disgusts me apart from Libya. I don’t like to think that it is true. It is all very sad.”
She said the Qaddafi family were “normal people.”
Foreign powers had interfered in the country, she said. “We – France and Great Britain – financed the rebels. The people don’t know what they are doing,” she said.

Hillary Clinton knew of Qaddafi ‘White Flag’ truce: US drone fired at Qaddafi convoy after negotiated truce
Asia Tribune
Libyan Leader Muammar Qaddafi was traveling under a negotiated “White Flag” truce last Thursday in an agreement to leave Libya. More claims from sources inside Misrata, Libya that the Libyan National Transitional Council did in fact agree to allow Qaddafi and his convoy safe passage out of Libya.
In addition rebel sources in Misrata claim US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was informed of the “White Flag” truce negotiated and agreed to by Libya’s NTC while visiting Libya Wednesday October 19.
A widely read Internet blog site Larry Sinclair.org reveals the above information noting that the site received them from reliable sources inside Libya.
The question now emerge is whether Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama engage in the firing on a White Flag convoy with the intent to assist in the capture and murder of Libyan Leader Muammar Qaddafi?
The web site Larry Sinclair.org further reports: “It is our opinion that the information received from our sources inside Libya is factual. It has also been reported that journalists were not immediately allowed to report from the site of the US Drone attack on Qaddafi’s convoy until the rebels had the opportunity to dispose of any remaining evidence of the “White Flags” which were clearly connected to the convoy vehicles.”
The question today is: Was Secretary Clinton told of the “White Flag” truce giving Qaddafi safe passage out of Libya? Did Secretary Clinton use this information to prepare a US Drone attack on Qaddafi’s “White Flag” convoy? Who authorized the US Predator Drone strike on the “White Flag” convoy? Will Barack Obama be called to answer for the US firing on a “White Flag” convoy?
Wednesday October 19 Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was in Libya meeting with the Libyan armed rebels. It has come to the attention of Larry Sinclair.org Web Site via sources inside Libya that the Qaddafi convoy was traveling under a White Flag of truce which sources say had been negotiated with Qaddafi. If the information concerning a negotiated truce to allow Qaddafi to leave Libya is true and verifiable, and the United States was involved in or even made aware of this agreement, the US Drone strike on the convoy would be in direct violation of the Geneva Convention and a war crime.
The Asian Tribune previously reported that it was the US drone fire on Colonel Qaddafi’s convoy that led the rebels to capture and brutally assassinate the former Libyan leader.
The web site a day later confirmed that there was an agreement to allow Qaddafi convoy with white flags to proceed and that the agreement was reached between the NTC and Qaddafi representatives.
Sources inside Misrata, Libya have claimed Qaddafi’s convoy was traveling under a “White Flag” truce and also claims Qaddafi was sodomized by rebels before shot in the head.
World outcry over Gaddafi’s murder
Let’s begin with a legal appraisal from the Jurist in an article, The Rule of Law and the Extrajudicial Killing of Muammar Gaddafi, by Curtis Doebbler of Webster University and the Geneva School of Diplomacy and International Relations, in Geneva Switzerland. Doebbler writes, “The killing of Muammar Gaddafi appears to be another violation of international law involving the US, sending the dangerous message that one must kill or be killed.”
He continues, “Although the facts are far from clear, most reports now seem to confirm that Muammar Gaddafi was killed after his convoy was attacked by NATO planes, including aircraft from the US and France, and after he was captured alive. If these facts are correct, they point to yet another serious violation of international law involving the US.
The willful killing or summary execution of a prisoner of war who is no longer participating in an armed conflict is a grave breach of the Third Geneva Convention on Prisoners of War of 1949, to which both France and the US are parties. It makes no difference how much one dislikes the particular prisoner of war. The resulting obligation for all parties to this treaty is that they investigate, arrest, and punish the perpetrators of such crimes.

Libya: Retaliation Rumors Cast Dark Shadow Over New Libya
This town once loyal to Moammar Gadhafi is no more: its 25,000 residents have fled, fearing retribution from vengeful victors from the neighboring city of Misrata who have burned and ransacked homes, crossed out Tawergha's name on road signs and vowed not to let anyone return.

And the US Government, which justified the bombing of Libya into the stone age with the excuse "protecting the Libyan people", does nothing.
Western Mercenaries and Corporations Pouring Into Libya
Western security firms – a polite term for mercenary outfits – are cramming planes into Libya to make the country safe for an invasion of western capitalists, the real beneficiaries of NATO’s war. So frenzied is the crush of war capitalists and their hired gunmen seeking to cash in on the Libyan catastrophe, the New York Times tell us a $5 cab ride from Tripoli’s airport to downtown hotels now costs $800. The head of the U.S.-Arab Chamber of Commerce calls it a “gold rush,” as officials of the government established by force of NATO airpower lay out the red carpet for the foreign hordes. Libya’s nominal new rulers in the Transitional National Council are in a rush to sell off the nation's birthright before they've even got it in their hands.
The huge influx of big, burley western mercenaries is most ironic, since the so-called rebels’ principal call to arms was that Moammar Gaddafi was maintained in power by paid gunmen from sub-Saharan Africa. They used the false specter of a black mercenary presence to turn the rebellion into a race war that claimed the lives of untold thousands of black Libyans and immigrant workers – an ethnic cleansing that no doubt still unfolds and will forever mark the new regime as racist to its core. That same regime now embraces a real world invasion of Euro-American mercenaries. White and money, indeed, makes right, in the new Libya.

The spokesman did not say where the meeting would take place.
"The areas that we're discussing with the authorities are preparation of a macroeconomic framework, assessment of the public financial management capacity, estimation of financing needs, and assistance we might provide in restoring the central bank's payment system and operations," he said.

Libya: revolutionaries turn on each other as fears grow for law and order
The fighting fuelled growing fears that nobody is in control of thousands of swaggering armed men who are still based in Tripoli and that the country's interim government will struggle to impose law and order.
Two people died from bullet wounds and at least seven fighters were injured during a battle that started when militia from the town of Zintan were stopped by guards from the Tripoli Brigade from entering the city's Central Hospital to kill a patient.
Tripoli Clashes: Rebel-on-Rebel Fighting
Among the NTC forces remaining in Tripoli to protect civilians from dangerous Gaddafi loyalists are the hardcore mountain brigades from Az Zawiyah, and the hardcore siege-revenging, Tawerghan-hunting brigades from Misrata. They both seem to share a fondness for summary executions, cruelty to captives, and a special disdain for black people, from Libya and abroad. An October 14 gun battle in the Abu Salim district netted two dead loyalists and 27 arrested, including four "African mercenaries."

Gadaffi Death. NATO WAS THERE. PROOF!
Qaddafi Flying White Flag When Killed - Wayne Madsen Report 1/2
This needs to be posted everywhere to show just how far American leaders have fallen into a pit of depravity.
Washington’s agenda revealed: US-backed rebels ask NATO to ‘stay in Libya’
The west’s new vichy-style government in Libya, aka the ‘National Transitional Council’ (NTC) have now asked NATO to still until 2012, this allegedly in order ‘to stop Gaddafi loyalists fleeing’.
It’s more likely, however, that the rebels are fearing reprisals from the thousands of innocent Libyans who have been maimed, raped and whose family members have been killed in the name of NATO’s liberation of Libya. The list of atrocities done in their name seems to be endless, with new reports of Rebel mass graves and executions coming out daily.
Of course, nothing defines NTC’s barbaric nature better than the brutal execution of Moammar Gaddafi, beaten and shot to death, along with members of his family in Sirte on Thurs. Yes, these are the violent animals that US President Barack Obama, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and British PM David Cameron have backed and fought alongside of in the war for Libya’s riches.
Call it mission creep, or call it 21st century imperialism, but it’s very easy to gather from this latest move that the NTC were never stable enough to facilitate thew huge number of US and European multinational companies who are currently being lined up for hundreds of new ‘reconstruction projects’ and contracts in the country.
Far from being in control of the country and able to govern, it appears that NATO’s NTC rag-tag band of international al-Qaida mercenaries and tribal paramilitary gangs do not have anything near a mandate by the people to rule Libya, as western TV audiences been led to believe for the last 9 months.
The London Guardian reported today on this latest bombshell, announced at a meeting with the US brokered military alliance in Qatar on Wednesday, where NTC interim leader Mustafa Abdel Jalil announced:
“We look forward to Nato continuing its operations until the end of the year,” said Jalil, adding that stopping the flight of Gaddafi supporters to other countries was a priority. “We seek technical and logistics help from neighbouring and friendly countries,”
Among other illegalities which contravene the UN’s flimsy Resolution 1973, which only allowed for a no-fly zone over Libya, Qatar stood in for the US as far back as March 2011, when it recognised the NTC as the legitimate authority in Libya. Writing its own rules, Qatar then went ahead to supply NATO-Rebel fighters with military provisions, heavy weaponry and more than $400m (£250m) in cash towards regime change.
Worse yet, it was revealed today that the Qatari government has provided boots on the ground in support of the US and NATO’s plan for regime change in Libya. According to Ahram Online:
For the first time, Qatar reveals that it had soldiers on the ground across Libya assisting in the fight against Gaddafi’s regime, with the country to play a major role in integrating the rebels into the Libyan military…
“We were among them and the numbers of Qataris on the ground were hundreds in every region,” said Qatari chief of staff Major General Hamad bin Ali Al-Atiya.
Under international law, this move by long-time US puppet Qatar is a flagrant violation of UN 1973, and other international laws, a crime of opportunity which should place Qatar firmly in international court.
The US agenda in Libya was always to exact regime change- but without getting its hands dirty by being caught in public with troops on the ground. In this twisted operation, it assigned the job of fall guy to its chief partner in the Middle East, Qatar.
But now it appears that the US and Britain are both reported to have had special forces troops on the ground in Libya in the run-up to Gaddafi’s assassination last week.
Israeli intelligence news service DEBKA quoted US sources who admit that American drones kept Gaddafi’s home in Sirte under surveillance, while it was surrounded by US and British forces.
American sources are willing to admit that US drones operated by pilots from Las Vegas pinpointed the fugitive ruler’s hideout in Sirte and kept the building under surveillance for two weeks, surrounded by US and British forces.
Both therefore had boots on the ground in breach of the UN mandate which limited NATO military intervention in Libya to air strikes.
In addition, US emirate puppet Qatar put its hands in the cookie jar very early on, providing the marketing and facilitating the selling of rebel-controlled Libyan oil exports beginning in March - oil which, under Gaddafi, was used to pay government salaries and state benefits on which most families depend. That system is now in chaos, as NTC Rebels and assorted western companies scramble to carve up the country’s state-owned assets and natural resources.
The UK was then next to join in the party, when on Oct 4th, independent oil and gas explorer Heritage Oil became the first foreign firm to pump Libyan oil thanks to its acquisition of a Benghazi-based oil company.

Sirte a ghost town, Completely Ruined & Looted by NATO & its rats 27.10.11

Gaddafi’s home town Sirte blasted into the Dark Ages
BBC
Across Libya in recent days, people have been partying, crowds gathering in public places and everyone has been looking forward to building a new country after more than 40 years of stifling, dictatorial rule.
Everywhere, it seems, except for Sirte.
I spent much of the last month here in Sirte, Col Muammar Gaddafi’s home town – a place he had built up from a position of almost insignificant obscurity to become one of the most modern and well-appointed towns in the country.
For the last two weeks, forces from the new transitional government had bombed and blasted Sirte back into the Dark Ages, as pro-Gaddafi fighters inside the city refused to surrender.
Return to rubble
It was to this devastation that the Hassan family returned to over the weekend.
Ghadafi – The Murderous Western Touch
Jurist Special Guest Columnist and international lawyer Curtis Doebbler has indicated that the killing of Gaddafi was a violation of The Third Geneva Convention on Prisoners of War, was a crime of aggression and also constituted the use of excessive force; in as much as it was a clear violation to the right to life, besides being in violation of Resolution 1973 which sought to protect civilians; not to bomb fleeing people as what happened to Gaddafi’s convoy.
France Says NATO Bombing Has Failed
Franklin Lamb LLM, PhD
Activist Post
One of the jokes heard at this week’s massive pro-government Friday post prayer rally at Green Square (in most of the other Arab countries Fridays are days of rage against the government du jour, but in Libya Friday prayers are followed by massive pro-Qadaffi rallies, attended two weeks ago by close to 65% of Tripoli’s population) is about how each morning Libya’s leader, following early morning Fajr prayers dons his formal uniform, complete with those huge epaulets, and salutes the small NATO flag he tapes to his bathroom mirror as he moves from place to place dodging NATO drones and assassins.
Since the beginning of the NATO operation (3/31/11) the alliance has conducted nearly 15,000 sorties, including close to 6000 bombing missions according to NATO’s media office in Naples, Italy (oup.media@gmail.com). The most recent attacks reported on 7/9/11 included 112 sorties and 48 bomb/missile attacks, and that is about average.
The two most active Embassies in Libya these days are the Russian and the Chinese. On 2/25/11, according to the Bulgarian Embassy staff, which was falsely rumored to be currently handling US consular services, whereas it appears no one is doing here in Libya), the US Embassy essentially ordered all EU and NATO Embassies to pack up and join their chartered plane and boats. Libyan officials tell visitors that they were shocked by the fast exodus. “They did not even say goodbye. Suddenly they were on their way to the airport,” one Foreign Ministry advised during a meeting last week.
The Russian and Chinese leadership has grown increasingly critical of NATO’s actions in Libya and are now firmly demanding an immediate and permanent ceasefire. Some cynics here are pointing out that these countries, unlike NATO, know exactly what they are doing and it includes the realization that they have an excellent chance to obtain many billions of dollars in lucrative contracts, which every official interviewed here has sworn, not one Libyan Dinar of which will ever again go to any NATO country, when its aggression is finally repelled. It is partly this realization that it’s “all or nothing” that keeps the US and its potent military asset, NATO, focused on assassinating Colonel Qaddafi and breaking his civilian support base. If Qaddafi lives, NATO loses and so do the current major oil industry contractors who are reportedly becoming depressed seeing reports of all the Russian and Chinese businessmen arriving in Libya.
NATO, Diplomatic, and Congressional sources confirm that the Obama Administration erred badly in thinking that Libya’s regime would collapse “in a few days, not weeks” as Obama assured the American public who has to pony up the estimated $5 billion thru July 31, 2011 costs. Obama’s egregious miscalculation may cost him his presidency if the economy does not.
On Sunday 7/10/11 France seemingly allied itself with Russia and China in calling on NATO to immediately stop its counterproductive and counterintuitive bombing, as more countries witness public demonstrations against NATO’s actions in Libya. French Defense Minister Gerard Longuet said in Paris that it was time for Qaddafi loyalists, which France acknowledges have been rapidly increasing in number, and Libyan rebels “to sit around a table to reach a political compromise” because, he said, “there was no solution with force."
France to hand over frozen Libyan assets to rebels
France said Monday it was handing over $259 million in frozen Libyan funds to the country's opposition and allowing the rebels' new ambassador to use the country's mothballed embassy in Paris.

Ministers were accused of a major U-turn over Libya last night after William Hague confirmed Britain has dropped its demand that Colonel Gaddafi must leave the country.

Human rights fact-finders show Libyan deaths, injuries not 'propaganda'
In the CIA kick-started war on Libya, The New York Times report Monday by John F. Burns, calling Libyan civilian casualties "propaganda," does not square with a series of WBAIX in-hospital interviews by Joshalyn Lawrence that show civilian victim survivors of US/NATO intensifying bomb raids, both witnessed by a human rights fact-finding mission including Cynthia McKinney and former MPs who report it is NATO spin that mainstream media is reporting.
NATO-led coalition to plan post-Kadhafi Libya: US officials
ABU DHABI (AFP) - US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton arrived in the United Arab Emirates on Wednesday for talks with European and Arab partners on planning for a democratic Libya without Moamer Kadhafi, aides said.
The talks in the UAE capital Abu Dhabi on Thursday come after President Barack Obama said NATO's mission in Libya was forging "inexorable" advances that meant it was only a matter of time before Kadhafi's departure.
The meeting will be the third International Contact Group event since the organisation was launched in Qatar two months ago...
Use of Predators Sets Dangerous Precedent
In May, as an intervention that was slated to last “days, not weeks” approached its third month, President Obama quietly authorized the use of unmanned Predator drones against Libyan government troops. This news was greeted with indifference by the American press and public, suggesting that many Americans have stopped asking questions about how the costly, deadly, unpredictable wars their government regularly leaps into are waged.
Apparently, it is no longer a notable event when heavily armed, remote-controlled planes hover over and occasionally fire missiles at targets in the Third World — unless your village is among those in the crosshairs. But Americans could benefit from a vigorous public debate about the ethics of drone warfare.
This is yet again an illegal, immoral war, fought not to protect the Libyan people, but to large degree to protect the central banking system against the proposed Libyan gold dinar standard, which would most probably have given the dollar the boot as the world's reserve currency.
Drone attacks kill some of those who were intended to be killed (they've missed Ghadaffi so far, but killed his son, and two grandchildren), but create massive civilian casualties in the process.
Human life appears to be worth absolutely nothing to this administration or to NATO, in the process of keeping the world safe for compound interest.
And please remember; just as it has with torture, which the Bush administration introduced, the Obama administration has institutionalized the use of drone warfare as simply normal and moral process in the conduct of war...as American as apple pie.
It is neither.
It is high time that a very public debate be held about the moral and ethical use of this technology, and the potential for unintended consequences here.
Nato agrees to extend Libya air war for another 90 days
Nato has agreed to extend its Libyan air war by three months and dismissed charges by Col Muammar Gaddafi's regime that the bombing campaign has already killed 718 civilians. flashback: On Mar 18th, 2011 Obama said "Libya Action Would Last 'Days, Not Weeks'
NATO extends Libya operations to September
NATO said on Wednesday it had extended its Libyan mission for a further 90 days, after Muammar Gaddafi made it clear he would not step down, dashing hopes of a negotiated end to the uprising against his rule.
The 28-member alliance originally took over a campaign of air strikes, the enforcement of a no-fly zone and an arms embargo on Libya, to protect rebellious civilians from attack by Gaddafi's forces, in late March for 90 days.
"NATO and partners have just decided to extend our mission for Libya for another 90 days," NATO Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said in a statement.
Memo to NATO Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen: what do you think you can do in the next 90 days you haven't done since starting this this military misadventure, where your "humanitarian aid" has killed probably hundreds of innocent civilians, leaving the rest to deal with the results of exposure to depleted uranium?!?
As you well know, the conflict is deadlocked. The next "phase" of the operation will have to be ground troops, and lots of them, to break that stalemate.
One has to wonder just when the first American NATO troop member will be killed by Gaddafi's forces, after Obama pledged that there will be no US ground troops used.
But I am almost willing to bet that if ground troops are the next phase, US combat troops will be involved.
US Still Flying ‘Hundreds’ of Strike Missions Against Libya
President Obama’s claims that the United States is not engaged in hostilities against Libya are centered around the premise that they are purely providing “support” for the British and French attacks, and that as such they are not a direct combatant.
This claim is entirely untrue, however, as a spokeswoman for US African Command (AFRICOM) confirmed today. Rather, the US has flown 801 attack sorties, and actually dropped bombs on Libya in 132 cases after the president claimed the support role began.
We know when this President is lying; he opens his mouth...and words come out of it!
When Obama ran for President and I supported him over McCain, because I sincerely wanted to believe that he meant what he said about "hope and change"; unfortunately, as his first term grinds on, that "hope and change has now morphed into "shock and awe".
He has expanded those theatres of war he claimed he would shut down, and started yet new military actions against Pakistan, Yemen, and Libya, while avoiding calling out the Bahraini leadership over their vicious crackdown on protesters there.
At this point, if one is a fiscal conservative with a conscience, there is absolutely no candidate out there who looks remotely attractive, with the exception of Ron Paul; and Ron Paul's chances of winning the Republican nomination for President are about as great as those of pigs flying.
NATO Helicopter Attacks Tantamount To Ground Operation: Russian Foreign Minister
NATO's actions in Libya are gradually evolving into a land operation, Russia's foreign minister warned on Saturday.
The French armed forces website said on Saturday that British and French light aviation helicopters of the ground forces had delivered pinpoint strikes at Libya on Friday night as part of NATO's military operation.
"We know that France and Britain intend to use combat helicopters, which we see as intentional or unintentional development [of NATO's operation into] a land operation," Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is absolutely correct in his assessment.
It is only a matter of time before we see NATO sending in ground troops, because the 3-month aerial bombardment has only produced a stalemate, and not the outcome which NATO and the US claim they want; regime change.
Bill would approve US role in Libya retroactively
WASHINGTON (AFP) - Two top US senators on Tuesday introduced a bill that would retroactively support America's military role in Libya, amid a raging debate over whether President Barack Obama flouted the law by not getting prior congressional approval.
"I believe we will find a strong, bipartisan majority that is in favor of authorizing our current military operations in Libya and seeing this mission through to success," said Republican US Senator John McCain, one of the authors of the bill...
Congress smacks down Obama's Libya resolution
WASHINGTON (AFP) - In a symbolic but scathing rebuke to President Barack Obama, the US House of Representatives on Friday rejected a resolution authorizing US military action in Libya for one year.
Lawmakers voted 295-123 to defeat the measure and and moved to take up a second resolution aimed at sharply reducing the US role in NATO-led, UN-mandated operations against Libyan strongman Moamer Kadhafi's forces.
Want Congress to Stop the War in Libya? Don't Hold Your Breath
This week the House is likely to pass an amendment to a Pentagon spending bill that would cut off funds for the war in Libya. The vote reflects the momentum behind a coalition of liberal Democrats opposed to the war and Republicans who want to rebuke the White House for failing to seek approval for the war from Congress.
That vote, however, marks where that momentum likely ends. Despite the buzz in the news, Congress is not likely to cut off money for the war in Libya anytime soon. "The House is likely to cut off funds, but it is not likely to be enacted into law," said John Isaacs, the executive director of the Council for a Livable World who closely tracks defense issues in Congress.
Translation: Congress is merely grandstanding so they can promise the voters they tried to stop the war during next year's campaign speeches.
US Congress votes against Libya funding
WASHINGTON (AFP) - The US House of Representatives voted to prohibit the use of funds for American military operations in Libya.
Lawmakers adopted the amendment to a military appropriations bill by a vote of 248 to 163.
A number of members of Congress have recently expressed their dissatisfaction at President Barack Obama's decision to go ahead with operations in Libya in March and to continue without congressional authorization...
And JUST in time for the election season! I have no doubt that every congresscritter will brag to their war-weary constituents how they finally stood up to the President, but whether this vote materially changes US involvement in Libya remains to be seen. Libya may run out of people before Obama runs out of your money!
Just 26% Favor Continued Military Action in Libya
A new poll demonstrates sanity among U.S. voters.
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that just 26% of Likely U.S. Voters feel the United States should continue its military actions in Libya. Forty-two percent (42%) are opposed and 32% are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)
But 59% agree the president should get the approval of Congress if he wants to continue U.S. military action in Libya. Twenty-one percent (21%) say congressional approval is not needed. Another 20% are not sure.
This marks a jump in support for congressional authorization from mid-March just after the president committed U.S. military forces to helping anti-government rebels in Libya. At that time, 47% said the president should have gotten congressional approval before ordering the military into action in Libya. Thirty-four percent (34%) said the prior approval of Congress was not necessary, but 19% were undecided.
Most voters remain skeptical of how soon U.S. military involvement in Libya will end. Just 32% think it is at least somewhat likely that U.S. military operations in Libya will be over by the end of the year, with 10% who say it is Very Likely. Fifty-four percent (54%), however, think it is unlikely those operations will be done by the close of the year, including 14% who say it is Not At All Likely. Another 14% are not sure.
This is comparable to findings in late April.

Neocon group calls for increase in military action against Qaddafi
Steve Watson
The chicken hawk neoconservatives that make up the Project For A New American Century cabal have written on open letter to House Republicans warning them not to reduce or cut funding for U.S. involvement in the military aggression against Libya or face becoming an ” irresolute” nation.
The group, now re-named The Foreign Policy Initiative (FPI), also claims that though it shares with Congress “concerns” over the conduct and justification of the military mission, “The problem is not that the President has done too much… but that he has done too little to achieve the goal of removing Qaddafi from power.”
NATO Preparing Ground War in Libya
New reports suggest the US is preparing to deploy as many as 30,000 troops to Libya this October in direct contradiction to earlier assurances that there would be no boots on the ground.

Nato has refused to rule out bombing Libya's ancient Roman ruins if Colonel Gaddafi is using them to hide military equipment.
Rebels in the divided country claim the under-pressure Libyan leader could be hiding rocket launchers at the UNESCO World Heritage site of Leptis Magna - which is between the capital Tripoli and rebel-held Misrata.
Canadian jet fighters join NATO raids on Tripoli,…
OTTAWA - Canadian warplanes have bombed the Libyan capital of Tripoli.
A Canadian Forces spokesman confirms that CF-18 jet fighters took part in four days of targeted strikes last weekend.
But the spokesman could not say whether any of the strikes came close to hitting Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi.
The Canadian jets were involved in day and night raids on Tripoli, which has recently been the focus of more intense NATO bombing.
They struck at depots housing armoured vehicles in an attempt to degrade Gadhafi's command-and-control structures.
Canada has six fighter jets taking part in the NATO-led bombardment enforcing a United Nations resolution to protect civilians from Gadhafi.
U.S. Invasion of Libya Set for October
Infowars.com has received alarming reports from within the ranks of military stationed at Ft. Hood, Texas confirming plans to initiate a full-scale U.S.-led ground invasion in Libya and deploy troops by October.
The source stated that additional Special Forces are headed to Libya in July, with the 1st Calvary Division (heavy armor) and three corps deploying in late October and early November. Initial numbers are estimated at 12,000 active forces and another 15,000 in support, totaling nearly 30,000 troops.
It’s just a little war
The report says that “because U.S. military operations [in Libya] are distinct from the kind of ‘hostilities’ contemplated by the resolution,” the deadlines for congressional approval or force withdrawal do not apply.
“We’re not engaged in sustained fighting. There’s been no exchange of fire with hostile forces. We don’t have troops on the ground. We don’t risk casualties to those troops,” said one senior administration official, who briefed reporters on the condition of anonymity during a conference call arranged by the White House. “None of the factors, frankly, speaking more broadly, has risked the sort of escalation that Congress was concerned would impinge on its war-making power.””
Funny, when those planes hit the World Trade Towers the White House immediately called it a war, even though there was no sustained fighting, nor exchange of fire!
Missing SAMs in Libya alarms the West
The United States has led the global hunt for manpads, which are available for a few hundred dollars apiece. In 2003, Colin Powell, the U.S. secretary of state, remarked that there was "no threat more serious to aviation" than SAMs.
Translation: The US will shoot down a passenger jet and blame it on "Muslims" to kick off a new escalation of the war.
First it was the Navy, now RAF chief tells politicians we can't stay in Libya beyond the summer
The RAF's ability to respond to future emergencies will be curtailed if the mission in Libya continues beyond the summer, its second in command has warned.
In a briefing paper for politicians, Air Chief Marshal Sir Simon Bryant said operations in Afghanistan and Libya were together placing a 'huge' demand on resources.
The air force's head of combat operations also described morale as 'fragile', with many areas 'running hot' as the coalition's defence cuts appear to undermine the efforts of air crews.

Possible Cracks Emerging in NATO's Libya Military Campaign.
TRIPOLI, Libya -- Possible cracks emerged in NATO's Libya air campaign Wednesday as Italy expressed concern about the accidental killing of civilians and called for a suspension in hostilities to allow the delivery of humanitarian aid. However, Britain insisted the alliance was "holding strong."
As West labors in Libya and Syria, Russia seizes an opportunity
With the West, including the United States, stuck in a military stalemate in Libya, Russia is busy offering itself to the region as the un-NATO.
Just weeks after abstaining (rather than vetoing) a United Nations Security Council resolution authorizing the use of force in Libya, Russia is now pressing for a diplomatic solution to replace military intervention in Libya.
And Russia modeling itself to the region as an alternative to an interventionist West does not stop there.
It also is balking at a Europe-sponsored and US-backed UN resolution on Syria it says it fears would be used as a pretext for more military action. And this week it teamed up with China to castigate the West for overstepping bounds the two countries said have been set by the United Nations.
Generally, Russia has been behaving like the real adult in the room, while NATO and the US haven't been able to find a war they didn't love to start, but haven't been able to end successfully.
Russia will not sign on to any UN condemnation of Syria's repression of its people, because it knows full well that this would give the US and NATO carte blanche to start yet another war, with Iran as the real target here, and Syria and Iran have a mutual defense pact.
IF the US and NATO go to war against Syria (and ultimately Iran) anyway, do not be surprised to see Russia and China enter the fray on the side of the Syrian and Iranian. governments.

The mistranslating of Gaddafi’s speech is even being regurgitated in ALTERNATIVE media, who are simply repeating – without questioning – the DISINFORMATION of the mass media.
The stage is being set for another Mossad/CIA/MI6 FALSE FLAG TERRORIST ATTACK on European civilians – just like Lockerbie. They can then intensify their illegal war against Libya’s interest-free money system and blame Gaddafi for something else he did not do. (See my post: MEGRAHI FRAME-UP)

NATO will be Defeated in Libya
http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=25634
The argument in Libya has been won by the Al Fateh revolution. There is now a glaring truth confronting the North Atlantic Terrorist Organization (NATO) – Muammar Qaddafi has handed out over one million kalashnikovs to the Libyan people. If he was the brutal dictator that NATO would have us believe him to be, then the armed population could have turned their guns on him and the revolutionary armed forces by now, especially as they would have NATO’s full backing if they did so.
Instead, on July 1st, more than a million Libyans, were in Green Square and the surrounding streets, to hear Muammar Qaddafi speak and to rally against NATO.

Mutilated pro-Gaddafi soldiers found dead in rebel-controlled area – report
A mass grave believed to contain the remains of Gaddafi loyalists has been discovered in the Nafusa Mountains in Libya, adding to concerns over the way the Libyan rebels treat captives and the civil population in territories under its control.
The five mutilated bodies were found in a water tank just off the main road between Zintan, the area’s main town, and Al-Qawalish, according to The Daily Telegraph newspaper.
The identity of the men, one of whom had been decapitated, remains unknown.
The mutilated corpses were clad in green uniforms of a kind worn by troops loyal to the Libyan leader, Muammar Gaddafi.

NATO bombs Libyan hospital
http://uruknet.com/?p=m79904&hd=&size=1&l=e
ZLITAN, Libya -- A hospital worker in western Libya said that NATO forces struck a local hospital on Monday and killed seven people, including three doctors.
Libyan government minders brought journalists Monday to the destroyed hospital in the town of Zlitan, about a two hours drive east of the capital Tripoli. The reporters were also taken to several food warehouses that the government said were damaged in the airstrikes and were still burning.
Ambulance driver Osama Mahmoud said three doctors were among the dead at the Zlitan hospital.
"In this whole area there is no military," Mahmoud told The Associated Press.
At the scene of the destroyed hospital, X-rays, medical supplies and hospital gurneys peeked through the tangled rubble and twisted metal. Four bulldozers worked to clean up the damage.
Residents said NATO planes bombed the buildings early Monday morning. A NATO spokesman in Naples, Italy, said the alliance would not release information on the strikes before Tuesday.
Global Hypocrisy: France Arming Libyan Rebels
France admits to violating UNSC r.1973 by arming Al-Qaeda rebels in Libya.
Bangkok, Thailand June 30, 2011 - Brazenly violating a UN resolution it itself had help push through the Security Council, France has now admitted to arming Libya's rebels with machine guns, anti-tank weapons, and RPGs. UNSC r.1973 supposedly allowed only for NATO forces to "protect" Libya's civilian populations and specifically prohibited the supplying of weapons to either side...
British, French agents undercover in Libya to get Gaddafi
A team of 130 British and French agents are reportedly on a one-million-pound-a-week, do-or-die deep undercover mission in Libya to get Colonel Muammar Gaddafi.

US Rejects Libya Ceasefire, Vows War Will Continue
Libyan officials have directed phone calls to a number of NATO member nations urging a ceasefire in a ongoing NATO war. The call was immediately spurned by the US, who said the offer was “not credible” and vowed the war would continue.
Allies vow to finish Libya job, Russia joins fray
DEAUVILLE, France (AFP) - The US and France are committed to finishing the job in Libya, President Barack Obama said on Friday at a G8 summit that saw Russia finally join explicit calls for Moamer Kadhafi to go.
Russia's dramatic shift -- and an offer to mediate -- came as British Prime Minister David Cameron said the NATO mission against Kadhafi was entering a new phase with the deployment of helicopter gunships to the conflict.
"We are joined in our resolve to finish the job," Obama said after talks with French President Nicolas Sarkozy at the G8 summit of industrialised democracies in the French resort of Deauville...

RAF to get 'bunker busters' for Libya mission
The Royal Air Force is to get 2,000lb "bunker busting" bombs to boost its mission in Libya.
The Ministry of Defence said the Enhanced Paveway III bombs were capable of penetrating the roofs of reinforced buildings.
The MoD said this would enable the RAF to attack command centres and communications nodes in Libya.
Defence Secretary Dr Liam Fox said: "We are not trying to physically target individuals in Gaddafi's inner circle."
These bombs may well be capable of inflicting an enormous amount of damage, but in the end, ground troops may well be needed to finish this.
One just has to wonder as to precisely when, in this now 3 month old standoff, such troops will be deployed.
And as to the UK's defense secretary's disingenuous remark that "We are not trying to physically target individuals in Gaddafi's inner circle", why has the NATO mission managed to kill one of sons and two of his grandchildren?!?!?
That statement reeks of the most rank hypocrisy.
NATO vows to ratchet up pressure on military targets in western Libya
NATO said Saturday it has begun ramping up its airstrikes on military targets in the western part of Libya, where rebel forces claim a string of advances through territory still largely under Moammar Gadhafi’s control.
“We are engaging all military assets that are being used to indiscriminately target the civilian population throughout Libya,” Lt. Gen. Charles Bouchard, commander of NATO’s Libya mission, said in the statement sent Saturday but dated the previous day.
A brief question for Lt. Gen. Charles Bouchard, commander of NATO’s Libya mission: sir, can you kindly explain to the American people how we are "protecting" Libyan civilians by killing them, and leaving those left standing to face the consequences exposure to depleted uranium, which causes horrendous cancers, and the birth defects in their children?!?
Just wondering.
NATO risks spilling own blood while mounting pressure on Gaddafi
“Just wait, if a helicopter crashes and God forbid we lose ten people… If that happened, [if] we started being blown out of the sky – don’t even think about it. So the issue is we haven’t dropped any blood. Yeah, we’ve dropped tens of millions of pounds which we haven’t got, but not single one of our people has died. When that happens, the game, and the PR game, will change,” Kelvin MacKenzie, former editor for The Sun expects.
The government might be able to defend that, as long as the new strategy makes rapid progress. But if it doesn’t, many see the next step as troops on the ground – in clear defiance of the UN resolution that allowed the original no-fly zone to be enforced in Libya.
Almost inevitably, there will be some NATO loss of life, either from choppers getting shot, or when - at some point - ground troops are deployed in Libya.
But don't forget; no matter the carnage and bloodshed on all sides, in light of the Libyan rebels have given the green light to the concept of a Central Bank, this military operation will make Libya safe for compound interest!
In Violation Of UN Resolution, Western "Boots" Are Now On The Libyan Ground
In a TV slip caught by Al Jazeera, yet another Zero Hedge [and WRH] prediction has been confirmed: namely that it was only a matter of time before NATO "boots on the ground" would promptly replace the CIA's "sandals on the ground" in a fully Western-backed land invastion of Libya. Since it is too early to predict the nationality of the armed invaders, we will assume they are British as Al Jazeera speculates, because otherwise Congress is about to find itself in an unprecedented scandal for completely ignoring its duty to impose the War Powers Act, which in turn would mean that the President now has a unilateral right to enforce the invasion of any country he so chooses.
US Navy 'dropped cluster bombs on civilian urban areas in Misratah, Libya.'
The HRI said it has convincing evidence that the cluster bombing blamed on pro-Gaddafi forces was actually carried out by the US Navy.
he report says at the time of the attack, Human Rights Watch and a reporter working for US media immediately blamed forces loyal to Libya's embattled leader Muammar Gaddafi for the cluster bombing that threatened civilian lives.
According to the report, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Navi Pillay and the US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton were quick to condemn the act.
Russia, Angry About Libya, Won’t Support Resolution on Syria
(CNSNews.com) – Russia will not back a U.N. Security Council resolution on Syria, President Dmitry Medvedev stated Wednesday, a stance that underscores Moscow’s continuing disapproval of the Western military operation in another traditional Russian ally in the region, Libya.
China evacuates largest-ever number of citizens amid Libya unrest
About 4,600 Chinese had left Libya by Thursday in China's largest-ever evacuation, the rescue of about 30,000 nationals stuck in the riot-torn north African state.
Webmaster's Commentary:
Please note that because of all the oil development deals China has with Libya, China's government definitely does not want to see any kind of regime change in the country.
At Deadline, U.S. Seeks to Continue War in Libya
The administration apparently has no intention of pulling out of the Libya campaign, and Mr. Steinberg said that Mr. Obama was committed “to act consistently with the War Powers Resolution.” So the Obama legal team is now trying to come up with a plausible theory for why continued participation by the United States does not violate the law.
No matter what Obama does here, one thing is certain: he will not stop the US military involvement with Libya, even without the consent of Congress.
Look for some kind of weasel-worded Executive Order on or right before 20 May which may appear to observe the War Powers Resolution, but does not actually do it.
This is a stalemate, without the introduction of ground troops, and Obama knows this. There are reports that NATO is readying such a campaign right now.
So one has to wonder if such a deployment of troops will include the very US troops Obama promised the American people he would not send.
'US faked Libyan casualties to strike'
Press TV: There's a troubling piece of news that I ran across, I'd like to get your idea on. It was the fact that there are some false numbers that have been reported on an article that came out, that Gaddafi's violence on Libyan civilians is exaggerated. And this is based on a group of British doctors and lawyers who actually visited Libya and found that the casualties are really exaggerated. First, what do you think about that?
Dankof: I'm prepared to believe it because these figures tend to be exaggerated or minimized depending on what it is the British MI6 or the CIA want to achieve in any given situation.
'Libya war costs surpass US estimate'
US Defense Secretary Robert Gates says the aerial war on Libya has cost the United States about 750 million dollars so far, despite the Pentagon's initial assessment.
"It's probably at this point somewhere in the ballpark of 750 million dollars," AFP quoted Gates as saying on Thursday.
Pentagon officials previously anticipated that the operation would cost the US military 604 million dollars from the start of the US-backed military effort on March 19 to April 4.
You Didn't Get Our Ok for Libya, But Here's the Funding Anyway
The US Congress has refused to grant President Obama authority to continue the military campaign in Libya. But the very same lawmakers have turned down a motion to cut funding for the American action in the country.
BREAKING NEWS: NATO Ground Operations. Qadhafi mobilizes 800,000 Troops and Militia
NATO expected to begin ground operations in Libya
Baku: Libyan leader Muammar Kaddafi declared a large-scale conscription in the country due to the probability of NATO ground operations, the Al-Sharg al-Awsat newspaper said referring to a Libyan high-ranking official. The Libyan official said his government expected that NATO will begin ground operations in Libya and they are ready to meet any scenario relating to that development. "The Libyan government is taking measures to conscript women and children as well”.
The source said NATO air strikes couldn’t force Kaddafi to leave power and this situation leads the NATO leadership to ground operations. “We have reliable reports about the NATO’s plans to begin ground operations in Libya”.
IF, and I stress, if this report is true (and I hate like heck that it is not sourced), one has to wonder just how soon such a ground invasion of Libya will involve the very American troops President Obama promised the American people would not be part of such a military action.
NATO Military Operation: Escalation in the Bombing Campaign, "Boots on the Ground"
The North Atlantic Treaty Organization confirmed on May 7, 2011 a total of 5510 sorties since March 31st. This figure does not include the strike sorties undertaken from the 19th to the 30th of March.
Out of 5510 sorties, 2204 are classified as "strike sorties", involving the bombing of one or more targets.
NATO identifies only a few of the targets out of several thousand strike targets.
There is evidence that NATO is also striking civilian targets including government buildings and residential areas.
According to NATO, "a total of 20 ships under NATO command are actively patrolling the Central Mediterranean."
Meanwhile, there are confirmed reports of foreign troops on the ground.
Without considerable foreign troop strength on the ground, this war is apt to grind on for the foreseeable future.
One has to wonder just when Obama will break his promise to the American people about "no US troops on the ground in Libya".
After all, breaking his promises has been one of the most consistent hallmarks of this President.
NATO’s War Against Libya’s Civilians
Briefly noted below are five recent instances of undisputed NATO bombings on Libyan civilians selected because they still among the most frequently discussed by residents of Tripoli.
On May 13, 2011, a peace delegation of Muslim religious leaders having arrived in Breda to seek dialogue with fellow Sheiks from the east of Libya was bombed at 1 a.m. in their guesthouse by two MK 82 bombs.
Eleven were killed instantly and 14 were seriously injured. NATO claimed the building housed a “Command and Control Center.” All witnesses and the hotel owner have vehemently denied this claim.
PHOTOGRAPHIC EVIDENCE: NATO Bombed Libya's Nasser University
http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=25221
The NATO war against Libya is not a humanitarian endeavour. It is a blatant war of aggression and a violation of international law.
War crimes are being committed by NATO.
Hospitals and universities have been bombed. Civilian infrastructure has been brutally destroyed.
Recently Tripoli's Nasser University was bombed. University staff were injured and killed. There is no justification for this.
What NATO is doing is taking advantage of internal divisions to destroy Libya as a country.
The unspoken objective is to destroy Libya's economy and to prevent it from developing as a nation-state. This is why schools and universities, hospitals, shipyards, factories, not to mention residential areas, have been the target of NATO bombings.
Readers are informed in advance that the photographic evidence that follows is graphic and disturbing.
These photographs were taken by Mohammed Al-Alam, a student at Nasser University. The photographs were directly forwarded to me.
Mahdi Darius Nazemroaya, Global Research, June 12, 2011
Some of the photos of dead students are very gruesome, and there is no evidence of the "Command and control center" NATO claimed justified the bombing of the university.

NATO Out of Ideas as Libyan War Mired in Stalemate
The story is the same as ever, the Libyan War is still a stalemate. Claims of progress are few and far between for either faction, while the NATO air strikes are showing no signs of changing anything on the ground.
Worse still, NATO has no “plan B” in the conflict, launching repeated strikes more as a matter of course than out of the belief it will accomplish anything. Nearly two months in, questions about the wisdom of starting the war are growing.
If THIS is what the NATO high command in any way shape or form attempts to characterize as "planning", this organization should be disbanded immediately by member nations as a catastrophic failure.
Of course, that will happen when pigs fly; the egos of those involved are far too large to admit defeat. And if NATO is unwilling to consider a peace accord and partition, when do NATO troops on the ground start to arrive?
And how many of those troops will be the American troops Obama vowed would never be there?!?
But of course, the only consistent element in Obama's administration has been that of breaking his promises to the American people.
Death squads reportedly assassinating Libyan regime figures in Benghazi
The New York Times yesterday reported on a wave of execution-style murders of former Libyan government internal security personnel in Benghazi. The killings, the Times noted, "have raised the specter of a death squad stalking former Gadhafi officials in Benghazi, the opposition stronghold."
If, in fact, NATO is going to follow through with ground attacks, and have "advisors" on the ground to assist the rebels in key locations, these assassinations may well be telegraphing that such attacks are imminent.
NATO missiles hit Gaddafi’s complex
NATO continued its intensified assault on Libya’s capital on Thursday, sending missiles into Moammar Gaddafi’s compound hours after the longtime leader appeared on state television to dispel rumors that he had died. The attacks continued a major escalation that NATO says will help protect civilians, but Libyan government officials say they are simply attempts on their leader’s life.

Libya: All About Oil, or All About Banking?
Ellen Brown
Global Research
Several writers have noted the odd fact that the Libyan rebels took time out from their rebellion in March to create their own central bank – this before they even had a government. Robert Wenzel wrote in the Economic Policy Journal:
I have never before heard of a central bank being created in just a matter of weeks out of a popular uprising. This suggests we have a bit more than a rag tag bunch of rebels running around and that there are some pretty sophisticated influences.
The West Versus China: A New Cold War Begins on Libyan Soil
The question as to why US-led NATO forces are determined to engineer a regime change in Libya is now becoming clear. While media pundits and political experts still argue over whether the Libyan rebel gangs are actually being backed and directed by US, UK and Israel intelligence agencies, broader long-range Western policy objectives for Libya are being completely ignored.
One only has to read the strategic briefings in U.S. AFRICOM documents to realise the true endgame in Libya: the control of valuable resources and the eviction of China from North Africa.
Susan Rice’s Viagra Hoax: The New Incubator Babies
On Thursday, US ambassador Susan Rice announced that Libyan government troops were being issued Viagra and told to rape as a terror weapon. She made the comment as part of a debate with another envoy to highlight that “the coalition is confronting an adversary doing reprehensible things.”
However, today, MSNBC was told by US military and intelligence officials that there is no basis for Rice’s claims. While rape has been reported as a “weapon” in many conflicts, the US officials say they’ve seen no such reports out of Libya.
Memo to US ambassador Susan Rice: stop lying to the American people and the world, if that is something you can possibly manage, Madam Ambassador.
Understanding that Saddam Hussein had absolutely no weapons of mass destruction, and that the war against Iraq was all about the oil, the American people can handle the truth about why the US is in Libya; they may hate the truth like hell, but, I guarantee you, Ambassador Rice, they will understand.
The US is in Libya for:
the oil,

the water,
http://www.prisonplanet.com/virtually-unknown-in-the-west-libyas-water-resources.html
and the gold.
Added to that is the fact that the rebels have created a new central banking system
and voila! It's an invasion just too good to pass up.
Additionally, the war against Libya has chased China out, and the Chinese government has lost billions in abandoned infrastructure projects.

Libya Rebels Execute, Behead, Mutilate Gaddafi Army who Surrender! Where is CNN now?
US continues to conduct air strikes in Libya
U.S. fighter jets have continued to attack Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi's air defenses even after NATO took over command of Libya operations earlier this month, the Pentagon said on Wednesday.
The disclosure came as Libyan rebels are struggling to gain ground from Gaddafi's forces and NATO allies are squabbling publicly over stepping up air strikes to help topple him.
It also followed Pentagon assurances that the United States had halted regular strike sorties after Washington's April 4 handover of full command of international operations to NATO and would conduct attacks only if asked by the Brussels-based military alliance.
Officials at the Pentagon said that position still stands.
Webmaster's Commentary:
Now, let me get my head around this:
US fighter jets continue to attack Libya's air defenses, even while the Pentagon has said that the US has stopped regular strike sorties, and these are justified by stating that because these actions are characterized as "Suppression of Enemy Air Defenses", they don't count as "strikes"?!?
Can the way this language is used by the US military possibly be more Orwellian Newspeak?!?
I sincerely doubt it, but this government continually surprises in this area.
Already, this campaign has already devolved spectacularly into a genuine Charlie Foxtrot, and the US and NATO have only themselves to blame.

European Union prepares to send ground troops to Libya
The European Union is seeking to utilise the humanitarian cover of the fate of the besieged city of Misrata to send ground troops to Libya under its command. The operation could be mounted within a matter of days. In a reversal of previous policy, the German government of Angela Merkel has offered to play the leading military role.
EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton has officially requested a go-ahead from UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon. The German Press Agency DPA reported that Ashton wrote to Ban on April 7 “telling him about the EU’s readiness to act.”
Webmaster's Commentary:
The stench of hypocrisy in this act by the EU just reeks.
There is nothing "humanitarian" about such a proposed military incursion.
And please remember: this is the same EU which stated last week, as reported on 5 April, 2011 at:
http://www.zawya.com/story.cfm/sidANA20110405T111559ZFVT78
'Libyan oil fair game as long as Kadhafi doesn't profit: EU"
'he European Union said Tuesday that the sale of Libyan oil is fair game as long as Western pariah leader Moamer Kadhafi does not profit from exports.

This is all about which countries wind up getting Libya's oil and water, period, end of discussion.
The Libyan people are all considered expendable in pursuit of this goal, pure and simple. That's why coalition forces are using depleted uranium weapons here.

Obama sends drones to Libya as Britain readies troops
President Barack Obama, together with his British and French counterparts, Prime Minister David Cameron and French President Nicolas Sarkozy, issued an open letter last week spelling out that their joint military campaign against the country would continue until it achieved the toppling of Libyan ruler Muammar Gaddafi and that any other outcome than regime change would represent an "unconscionable betrayal."
It is in this context that Obama’s order to use pilotless warplanes over Libya assumes ominous implications.
The "unique" and "additional capabilities" that Washington is introducing into the Libyan intervention is the ability to carry out targeted assassinations.
Webmaster's Commentary:
These alleged "targeted assassinations" create one hell of a lot of collateral damage in terms of civilian deaths, as evidenced by the use of drone attacks in Pakistan.
But of course, Libyan civilians are expendable to Obama and the Western powers conducting this military campaign, even though they have wrapped this operation in a by now blood-soaked "humanitarian flag".
The Western "Newspeak" on this is that we are "protecting" Libyan civilians by killing them, and leaving those left standing to enjoy the fruits of depleted uranium exposure, which will inevitably cause massive cancers and horrendous birth defects for their kids, just as happened in Falluja, Iraq.
It's all about the oil, keeping China out of the Mediterranean, and the water.
The stench of this collective hypocrisy is enough to make thinking, moral people absolutely ill.

NATO air strikes hit Tripoli – Libyan state TV
NATO aircraft has bombarded south-western parts of the Libyan capital, Tripoli, killing seven civilians, reports AFP, quoting Libyan state television.

NATO Data Confirms the Magnitude and Destructive Nature of the Libya Military Operation
NATO data confirms the magnitude and destructive nature of the Libya military operation.
"Since the beginning of the NATO operation (31 March 2011, 08.00GMT) a total of 2,771 sorties and 1,110 strike sorties have been conducted.
"A total of 18 ships under NATO command are actively patrolling the Central Mediterranean. 22 Vessels were hailed on 17 April to determine destination and cargo. 1 boarding was conducted (no diversion).
A total of 384 vessels have been hailed, 10 boardings and 3 diversions have been conducted since the beginning of arms embargo operations."
We are dealing with a formidable military force, a deployment of naval power and air force bombers directed against a country of less than 7 million people, less than the population of Switzerland.
Webmaster's Commentary:
This is all about the oil and water, and diverting these resources from countries like China, which is going to lose billions from development deals with a "regime change" in Libya.
Libya: Italy rejects calls to join ground attack operations
Splits in the international coalition on Libya widened on Friday as Italy flatly rejected calls to contribute air power to the mission targeting Colonel Muammar Gaddafi's forces.
Amid growing fears of a military stalemate in Libya, Britain and France have exhorted other Nato members including Italy, Spain and the Netherlands, to provide warplanes and other "strike assets".
Only Canada, Norway, Denmark and Belgium are supporting the Anglo-French ground attack operations, which Nato estimates is at least ten warplanes short of what is required.
Libya faces risk of "prolonged conflict": Italian expert
The Libyan crisis faces the risk of turning into a "prolonged conflict" which will end up splitting the country in two, a leading Italian expert said in a recent interview with Xinhua.
"I see no immediate solution to the conflict between NATO forces and the Libyan rebels on one side, and Muammar Gaddafi on the other. The ongoing civil war is fated to become an internal cancer that will destroy territorial unity and lead to a partition," Giuseppe Sacco, a professor of international relations at the Rome-based Luiss University said.
Webmaster's Commentary:
What may well happen will be a partition of the country, leaving the oil-rich portions of the country in a Western sphere of influence.
France To Send Military Advisors To Libya
France vowed Wednesday to step up airstrikes on Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi's forces and acknowledged that it has military officers already working with Libyan rebels on the ground.
Italy joined Britain in announcing their commitment of military instructors to train the rebels, who have failed to rout Moammar Gadhafi's forces despite weeks of NATO-led airstrikes.
European powers and the Libyan opposition remained firm against sending foreign ground troops into Libya, a dangerous and politically risky step. However NATO, which is leading the U.N.-sanctioned international military operation to protect civilians, is now acknowledging that airstrikes alone cannot stop the heavy shelling of cities by Gadhafi's forces.
EUFOR Libya: EU Prepares Military Ground Operation In Libya
Finnish Foreign Minister Alexander Stubb on Tuesday said that the European foreign ministers are planning a military support operation in Libya in case a request will be made by the United Nations and humanitarian aid organisations such as OCHA.

UK Sends In Troops As Ground Invasion Of Libya Accelerates
Unleashing yet another deft salvo of Orwellian doublespeak, the British government announced today that it would be sending in military forces to “help” Libyan rebels while still insisting that it is not sending in military forces, as the EU gears up to dispatch a further 1,000 troops, also under the dubious pretense of preventing humanitarian suffering.
US to deploy drones against Kadhafi in Libya: Gates
WASHINGTON (AFP) - The US military will use armed drones over Libya, Defense Secretary Robert Gates said Thursday, calling them a "modest contribution" to international coalition efforts there...
Obama OKs use of Predator drones in Libya
The United States is using armed Predator drones in Libya to target Moammar Gadhafi's forces with the approval of President Barack Obama, Defense Secretary Robert Gates said on Thursday.
The unmanned aircraft, already used to target militants along Pakistan's border with Afghanistan, will allow for precise attacks against Gadhafi's forces, Gates told a news conference in Washington, D.C.
Webmaster's Commentary:
Let me just make sure I have correctly wrapped my brain around this: we're using the same Predator drones we've been using in Pakistan, which do a magnificent job of not differentiating between innocent people and insurgent/military forces?!?!
As reported on 2 January, 2010 at:
http://news.antiwar.com/2010/01/02/us-killed-700-civilians-in-pakistan-drone-strikes-in-2009/
"On January 1, 2009, a US drone strike killed two senior al-Qaeda leaders, the first in what then President-elect Barack Obama had said would be a dramatic escalation of the aerial bombardment of Pakistan’s tribal area.
"Much has been made of the successes, but while the strikes have been regular and they almost always are presented by Pakistan’s intelligence community as having killed “suspects,” the actual successes are few and far between, with only five confirmed kills of real militant leaders, and a handful of unconfirmed claims that usually haven’t panned out."
With the percentage of innocent civilians these weapons kill relative to the actual people they are supposed to target and kill, Obama may have just guaranteed that his campaign in Libya will carry right on through the 2012 election.. Not only that, but now that Gaddafi's military understand that the US is coming with armed drones, they will simply dress in civilian garb, and melt into the Libyan general population whenever possible!!
Euro-American Land Invasion of Libya Imminent
The official Euro-American invasion of Libya is about to begin. I say “official” invasion because the Europeans and Americans already have boots on the ground making bloody footprints in Libya, from U.S. Special Ops and CIA, British Special Air Services commandos, and their French counterparts. The news media of the invader countries know their armed forces are active on Libyan soil, and occasionally report as much. But they dutifully await announcements from their governments that the “real” invasion has, officially, begun.
Western Nations Inch Closer To Having Troops On Libyan Soil
Europe is ready to send an armed force to Libya to ensure delivery of humanitarian aid and Britain said Tuesday it will dispatch senior military officers to advise the opposition – signs that Western nations are inching closer to having troops on Libyan soil.
The new tactics seem to have been spurred by the continued deadlock after two months of fighting between Gadhafi's army and rebel forces. There has also been growing international concern over the fate of the besieged rebel city of Misrata, where NATO has been unable to halt heavy shelling by Gadhafi's forces with airstrikes alone.
Webmaster's Commentary:
