Pensez-y....

How the Bush Family Makes a Killing from George's Presidency

Halliburton scored almost $1.2 billion in revenue from contracts related to Iraq in the third quarter of 2006, leading one analyst to comment: "Iraq was better than expected... Overall, there is nothing really to question or be skeptical about. I think the results are very good."

Very good indeed. An estimated 655,000 dead Iraqis, over 3,000 dead coalition troops, billions stolen from Iraq's coffers, a country battered by civil war - but Halliburton turned a profit, so the results are very good.

Very good certainly for Vice President Dick Cheney, who resigned from Halliburton in 2000 with a $33.7 million retirement package (not bad for roughly four years of work). In a stunning conflict of interest, Cheney still holds more than 400,000 stock options in the company. Why pursue diplomacy when you can rake in a personal fortune from war?

Yet Cheney isn't the only one who has benefited from the Bush administration's destructive policies. The Bush family has done quite nicely too. Just a few examples:

Case shines light on how war contracts are awarded

When Poway defense contractor Brent Wilkes heard that the United States was going to go to war with Iraq, he was ecstatic, say several former colleagues.

The only "winners" in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have been the defense contractors.

What the heck is Sibel Edmonds' Case about? And why should I care?

Sibel Edmonds' case is about the intersection of illegal arms trafficking, heroin trafficking, money laundering, terrorist activities and the corruption of many "highly-recognizable, highly-known names" in and around the US government. Sibel says that the people involved will go straight to prison if we can get hearings into her case. Richard Perle, in prison. Douglas Feith, in prison. Dennis Hastert, in prison. Marc Grossman, in prison.

The Law That Never Was -- The Fraud of Income & Social Security Tax

The authority of the federal government to collect its income tax depends upon the 16th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, the federal income tax amendment, which was allegedly ratified in 1913. After a year of extensive research, Bill Benson discovered that the 16th Amendment was not ratified by the required 3/4 of the states, but nevertheless Secretary of State Philander Knox fraudulently announced ratification.

In other words, the 16th Amendment FAILED ratification by 2 states.

"When peaceful revolution is impossible, violent revolution is inevitable." -- John F. Kennedy

450,000 active and retired federal employees did not voluntarily comply with federal income tax requirements for the 2005 tax year, according to documents obtained by WTOP through the Freedom of Information Act.

As trial goes on, he hunkers down

What precipitated this confrontation was the judge's refusal to allow the issue of the legality of taxes to be raised in court. This should come as no surprise since the judge's salary comes from tax money. Indeed to my knowledge, while many judges have declared taxes legal by fiat (which the Constitution does not allow them to do) only one judge has actually looked at the tax laws, and that was judge James C. Fox in Sullivan v United States, who admitted in the court record that the 16th Amendment failed ratification.

As for Mr. Brown, the state motto of New Hampshire is "Live Free or Die". New Hampshire was the first state to sign the Declaration of Independence (one of my ancestors on my mother's side, Josiah Bartlett, was the first to set pen to parchment) and we New Hampshiremen take our freedom very seriously.

I hope violence can be avoided, but as John F. Kennedy used to say, when peaceful revolution is impossible, violent revolution is inevitable. I don't like violence; it's bad for tourism and rough on the landscaping, but in the face of a government that is already acting illegally and unconstitutionally, violence is going to start somewhere, some time. We had better get used to that idea and prepare for it. We The People kicked out one tyrannical tax-happy government in 1776. And it looks like we may have to do it again.

Edwards: Let IRS do millions of returns

Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards wants the Internal Revenue Service to calculate and complete the income tax returns of up to 50 million Americans annually.

Well, John just lost me with that idiocy. Setting aside that this is like asking the bank robber to decide how much he is going to take, the GAO reports that 1/3 of the phone calls to the IRS will result in erroneous information being given to the taxpayers. Remember, this is the organization that can't track down the actual law that obligates taxpayers to pay a direct non-apportioned tax, or for that matter validate the ratification of the 16th Amendment, on which the entire personal income tax rests. Plus, the IRS isn't a government agency, it is a private corporation, no different than ENRON or Arthur Anderson and I am sure you would not want either of those doing your taxes for you.

Games like WoW raise income tax issues, in part because items in them, though part of a "game," have real market value. In [my] paper, ... I discuss two of the issues: the taxation of loot "drops" and the taxation of exchanges within the game, such as the exchange of a virtual sword for gold.

Comverse CEO arrested in Namibia, pays 10 Million in bail!

A SIX-DAY stint in the Windhoek Central Prison ended for Israeli-born high-tech industry millionaire Jacob 'Kobi' Alexander yesterday.

For new readers, Comverse Infosys, the company Kobi co-founded ran before getting caught in a stock fraud scheme involving his own company, installs and operates equipment on US telephone systems that allows the police to listen in on any phone calls with the push of a button. As it turned out, Israeli spies were also using this equipment to listen in on police and DEA to give warnings to Israeli drug criminals of impending arrests and investigations. This was the scandal that led to the Israeli Spy ring arrests, the largest foreign spy ring ever uncovered in the US. The FBI was in the process of rolling up this network when 9-11 happened.

"Evidence linking these Israelis to 9/11 is classified. I cannot tell you about evidence that has been gathered. It's classified information." -- US official quoted in Carl Cameron's Fox News report on the
